Schematics (again)
« on: 29-03-2009, 21:03:25 »
Well,

Lobo gave me a ton of good schematic websites. Unfortunately, and oddly enough, over the weekend I got a Trojan, and when I went to remove it, many programs/applications were removed a long with it. This includes firefox, and since my schematic bookmarks were in firefox, I've lost them to  :-\.

So anyway. I already know about ww2drawings website for WW2 Armor schematics. So I guess as far as armor goes, I'm in good shape. But I was wondering, maybe some of you have good sites with WW2 sea-craft? Landing craft, ships etc. And possibly, a WW2 hand weapons schematic site. I don't really have trouble finding dozens of hand weapon pictures, including profile shots, but I figured I'd ask about this as well  ;D.

Here is an example:

Would be appreciated.  ;)

Cheers,
Apple

This guy has made very good schematic drawings, not just of tanks but also of guns, planes and ships. Check his homepage, maybe you´ll find something good.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.

Stumbled across this baby just now

SBD-5 Dauntless

*Edit*

Following that up, I found this gem, with 3 way diagrams of just about every plane used by the U.S. Navy, including ones showing pilot seating and weapon positions. They also have original performance charts, and the diagrams show fields of fire.

DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY -- NAVAL HISTORICAL CENTER

They also have an address shown, so if you contact them they might (might) give you more info, or access to more schematics. Apparently our navy is a bit nostalgic.  :P

*AnotherEdit*

OK, I did a bit more research through the Navy's confusing website and found out that, yes, they will send you copies of documents they have on Microfilm-For a price The price isn't that unreasonable, though, it starts at $5, and for $10 they'll send you CD copies of aviation reports from WW2, yours to cherish forever. Or you could go there in person, and theoretically get lunch and your run of the library. Or something...dang military bureaucracy, such a confusing website.

Twilight - the movie is just like Schindler's list... You know you're watching a crime against humanity, but it's sort of entertaining.~~Ts4EVER

What about any for the Higgins LCVP?

I've found one:

http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USN/ships/img/LCVP/LCVP-plan.gif

And its not that great. Spent awhile looking but didn't see any. ;)

I would sketch my own and scan them into my PC, but I have no scanner ;D.

Figured I'd ask,
Cheers

Oh, and they have a nice 3d gallery. I see Matroskin posted his awesome King Tiger there.  ;D
