What IF: Open-source BF42 and MMO

So its probably a tad far-fetctched, but it's nice to know what the community think of the idea...

Imagine, Battlefield 1942, after all its years, decided to go open-source, or perhaps have an open-source version with a very similar engine. How cool will it be if the FH devs decided to make BF42 MMO maps for it. Think:
1/ Full sized armies
2/ Imported FH2 sounds to enhance FH1 effect
3/ 'Random' code seen in random clothes, kit etc
4/ Implemented 3d ironsights for FH1
5/ a more, FH2 aiming system with bolt-action animation etc
6/ Further improved aircraft handling with FH1 aircraft engine
7/ Naval warfare!
8/ Updated effects, skins and such given that most players can at least handle FH2

so what do you think?

Rather go for standalone and forward than taking steps backwards.

I dunno... I'm a conservative, its my thing to think more in functional terms... Besides, Bf42 was one of if not the most moddable game, before engine decided to get to complex to mod, so it feels only right to have it, since, with it open-source, alot of modification can be done on it to make it feel more modern...

Think:
9/Engine fail rather than blow up and debris lasting for long on the battlefield and becoming a tactical structure
10/ Bots for COOP... if you so wish.
