Use water planes. They are in BF2>static objects>water I believe.

Ok...I think I have seen stuff about that bumping about on the internet for mapping stuff.  I guess I can do that whenever then.  Now it is time to place statics and such.

Thanks azreal.

One more dumb question....Over and undergrowth.  Before statics/flags/spawns or after?

Depends on your style of mapping. If you have a flag layout planned then after, if you make the terrain first then before... I personally do them as I go along, but then my method of mapping is doing small bits here and there or finishing one area before starting the next one.

Well since I have no method of mapping I will go with yours.  ;D  Time to buckle down and start that first town.

Thanks

(posting this here as well)

Ahhh my old friend Tpaint. Where did I go wrong with this thing?

My surrounding terrain got painted just fine. But the actually playing area just got a "dusting" of the texture.

BTW: The "WTF?" Is what I hand painted (no duh) and the same look expected over the whole area.

Also a follow up to my last map.....Yeah I learned about backing up crap.  Very important when you are buzzed and talking to people over venty while doing the MSN thing and cruising the web/youtube.  BF2 editor does not like this very much and wants your undivided attention when saving your map.  At this point it finds itself prone to a murder suicide.  Murdering your F*%&$ing map while killing itself and your comp.  Anyway it was a fun 20+ hours wasted that I learned a lot from with help from here and the guys at WaW.

Haha, I told you I would do it myself, I'm not going to use the real heightmap.

This is more about Tpaint.  I have just tried to keep this under one topic.

BTW: Fuchs.....I found a guy who lives in Jalo that may be able to give us some good info.

That is excellent news, maybe he got a larger aerial picture!
