No comets were in action in Normandy.  Or even in France if I remember correctly.  And they were first delivered in december 44, while Normandy ended 4 months before.

Comet didnt enter until the most latest stages of the war in europe, 1945. It was like the british equivalent to Pershing, meaning it was very rare and only saw a battle or two, if even that. It was too late for the Comet to have an effect on anything.

Quote
The 11th Armoured Division was the first to receive the new tanks in December 1944 and the only division to be completely refitted by the end of the war. Because of its late arrival, the Comet did not participate in any major battles though it did see combat against the Germans. The Comet was involved in the crossing of the Rhine and the later Berlin Victory Parade in July 1945. The Comet's maximum speed of 32 miles per hour was greatly exploited on the German Autobahns.

That's just what Wiki says.

On this subject you can trust Wikipedia. It agrees with my encyclopedia about tanks.
"Force answers force, war breeds war, and death only brings death.
To break this vicious circle one must do more than act without thought or doubt."

Well, the Comet had only 30 mins of flight and it saw little action, probably late 1944 untill march, i think the luftwaffe stopped using them.

The documentary is wrong, they often are.  That tank simply did not see action expect for the river crossing.

From what I can recall, the Comets that arrived in time for the offensive through the Ardennes did not see any (or very little) action. The crews were not properly trained to use the new vehicles and were reverted back to using their old Shermans/Cromwells.

At least this is what I can remember, but I may be getting confused with something else.
