Fire (graphics)
« on: 23-04-2009, 18:04:15 »
Alright, this is something that bothers me alot.
Battlefield 2's fire, it looks like shit. Now, some of you may think that it's just BF2's graphics, thats wrong, the fire in BF2 can look way better!

One mod that already did this in 2006:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bruJoVC672s
Activate High Quality and go to 0:30, have a look at that fire.

Any reasons why this isn't ingame? Does it take up too much space? Lag causing fire?

Thanks,
Fuchs.

Well there isn't any map with so much fire in FH2. Why should there be such fire in the desert? What's there to burn like that?

Desert? Weren't there some rumours about more theatres?  ???
Anyways, back to serious, imagine dense city fights what has seen heavy bombings (Caen for example) I love the graphics FH2 creates but I simply hate the fire, it annoys me. Thats the only reason I bring this up.
This isn't a suggestion like put in it in 2 days but it's also for future theatres like that rumour about northern France, how is that province called again..

The twisted burning hulks of tanks that nobody knows where they came from and people refuse to put out with fire extinguishers.

Not bashing doomsayer and his mod.. but... BF-apocalypse isnt an active mod.. there are reasons for that.
We can make effects with many many particles and huge textures if we want, but.. as opposed to BFH we want a mod that is played... yes its resource hogging, and can destroy more in a map than it creates.

looked nice though!

It may not destroy the mod with nice effects that look good but it could destroy the mod because better graphics put more stress on the computer. Too much stress and many people can't play the game fluently and won't play the mod... Hence "yes its resource hogging, and can destroy more in a map than it creates. "

I'm sure we will all see some cool fire effects when Normandy comes with the flamethrower. ctz can do magical things with code and FatJoe can do magical things with PS...;)

All the passengers catch on fire, and the car plunges off an inconvenient cliff to its fiery, but cinematographic, demise?
Twilight - the movie is just like Schindler's list... You know you're watching a crime against humanity, but it's sort of entertaining.~~Ts4EVER

I pity it taking up too much space and power. Just imagine Pavlovs house with those fire effects.  :-X
