PPD-40
« on: 29-11-2016, 14:11:12 »
Can you please add the PPD-40, the main Russian sub-machinegun in 1941. It looks a lot like the Suomi KP/-31 SJR, which means that texturing and animations would be easy. The Finns captured a few thousand and used them to good effect. Below is a picture of a Russian rambo armed with a PPD-40.  ;D ;D

The gun in the picture is a PPSH.

And only the Finnish coastal troops and home guard used the PPD's, not frontline units. And Finns captured a few hundred of PPD-40's and PPD-34's, not thousands.

Well the Russians used the PPD on mass before being replaced by the PPSH, but this photo shows that it was used until the end of the war by sailors.

No, that photo just shows that it was issued to sailors.

The PPD was used to end of the war, sure, but by war's end it was mostly regulated to non-eastern front areas (Central Asia, Far East, Murmansk, etc).  Its mass use was the early war, and since there are no maps or plans for early Ostfront, that point it moot.

But why did the devs make the BT-7, since it was used early in the war, and late in the war against Japan. But they said that there will be no Japan, only in CMP, so I see no reason why not to make the Winter war, and Operation Barbarossa. I know the team is small, but the Battlegroup 42 team was small, and they made a mod that has more weapons, nations, weapons and maps than FH-2.

The BT7 was used through to the war's end, even on the Ostfront.  Also, Winter War/Op Barbarossa would require basically brand new character models for all sides (Russian early war uniforms/helmets, German early war uniforms, Finnish winter uniforms, early Soviet winter uniforms, etc etc).  So unless you have a character modeler or two hiding in your back pocket, that's not happening.

Also, Battlegroup 42 didn't have to redo everything for a Battlefield 2 mod.

BG42 team has been working on BG42 from BF1942's peak years while FH team switched to BF2 to develop FH2. Besides, making maps for BF1942 was piss easy and fast compared to BF2.

Most of BG2's stuffs are ported from BG42.

The FH2 team decided to go full high quality and recreate them all one-by-one, so we won't have off-scale models like tiny Churchill tanks like back in FH.

But don't we have early German uniforms from the Greek campaign?
