Debug assertion failed
« on: 06-11-2016, 03:11:36 »
Hey everyone, i have a problem. Whenever i load a map it crashes at 2% and then an error message pops up saying:
           Debug assertion failed!

           Version: 1.5.3153-802.0 Build date:2009-8-20 20:8
           Module: ParticleSystem
           File:
           C:\dice\Projects\BF2Branches\Patch_1_50\Code\BF2\Geom\ParticleSys
           tem\ParticleSystemManager.cpp
           Line: 371

           Text: Too many ParticleSystemManager templates

           Current
           confile:Objects/effects/weapons/shellejections/emitters/e_shellejection
           _9mm_3ponly/e_shellejection_9mm_3ponly.tweak

I have played Forgotten Hope 2 before, i uninstalled it and then decided to install it again and then this happend. Anyone knows how to fix this pls?? I have BF2 v1.5 too.

Have you added any custom weapons or vehicles recently?

Nope, I haven't done anything to FH2.

Hi, GamingCap.

To my understanding, that effect/object "e_shellejection_9mm_3ponly" is not present in any FH2 build (public and developer) or BF2 related. So here are some quick questions I wanted to ask you:

1) Have you installed BF2 with patches 1.41+ 1.50?
2) Do you run Forgotten Hope 2 via FH2 Launcher? If you do, hit "repair" through options and see if it solves it.

Best regards,
Roughbeak

Hi, Thanks for the answers.
Answers to your questions:
1) I've just downloaded the full BF2 v1.50.
2) I do run FH2 with the launcher but i've already hit the repair button but i still get the error.

That's your mistake. Please follow the installation instructions and apply BOTH patches before you'll install FH2. Alternatively, you can use battlelog.co's free version of BF2, which is already patched up and ready for online play.

Hey thanks for the help. But before i uninstalled BF2, i deleted some weapons that i've installed in the vanilla bf2 mod. That worked but then i get another error saying:
Debug assertion failed

Module: GeomMisc
File: C:\dice\Projects\BF2Branches\Patch_1_50\Code\BF2\GeomMisc\DebugTextDrawer.cpp
Line: 52

Text: Failed to load font Fonts/BF1942.font, aborting

Current confile:

Seems like the font is missing. How can i fix this?? Thank in advance for any help you can provide.

You can by reinstalling BF2 with both patches in the correct order. There is no workaround  ::)

Yes, but make sure you download
- the game client
- the patches (they are under the third tab called "Tools and Patches")

and then install them in the correct order: game, 1.41, 1.50

I fixed it  ;D ;D. Before i was gonna reinstall BF2, i was trying to figure out the problem. After some time i found the solution. I've installed some custom files in the vanilla bf2 mod but FH2 also reads files from the vanilla bf2 mod and found custom files that caused FH2 to crash. So i moved every mod that had custom files to somewhere else (i moved the mods to another folder on my desktop) and that fixed the problem. But still a big THANKS to everyone that answered ;).

Slayer, whole point of battlelog's BF2 download is to avoid downloading and installing the patches. They are there, you can download them, but even on their site, in the tab you mentioned, it says: "Warning! These files are only listed here for reference. You should not need to install them to play BF2" and that "you only need this if you installed from the original CD!". Their client is already patched up. If the question was about the battlelog.co version of patches, then yes, you can download them from their site, it doesn't matter from where you'll get the 1.41 and 1.50  ;)

Yes, I wasn't sure if "version" meant game or patches, so just to make sure I posted this. The "install in correct order" is just a habit from the old days ;)
