It is certaily possible. FH2 has several 1940 French weapons and vehicles, but it takes quite a while to develop a map to use them all on. It really depends on what the mappers are interested in. That being said, I really hope that a 1940 French map will be eventually finished and released, since this is a part of the war that is not often portrayed in video games. It is certainly in the realm of possibility.

My only worry is the German fanboys will bitch when the French tanks chew them up for breakfast and spit out ruined husks of Panzer 2s.

i guess it would be historically realistic to counter superior tanks by superior german airforce? kinda like it is now for allies on normandy maps.

Yeah, it will turn out that Frenchies had the best infantry weapons, the best tanks, the best planes, but somehow they lost the war...  :P

Infantry weapons, tanks and planes mean jack shit in the big scheme of things (unless you are running around with swords or something). However, FH2 is not about the big scheme of things, it's about tactical skirmishes.

Exactly, and in the tactical skirmishes, more often than not, the French tanks crushed the German tanks.  Also, on the air force, the French planes did extremely well with very high combat KDR's.  Just because their higher leadership was inept doesn't mean that, on the front lines, they didn't perform exceptionally well for what they had.

That being said, the French would probably be the first FH2 army without spawnable smgs. Then again, real pros use rifles anyway ;). And for those smg lovers we have the russkies coming up, who even might get unlimited smgs on some maps.

yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees! All that please. Actually (because my knowledge is non-existant) did French had any LMG's, any that you could shoot while standing perhaps?

I'd love me some Frenchies in FH2 8) The devs have put an amazing mod together with a lot of the main fronts being touched on. But the real reason I got into FH1 (apart from other things) was the idea that I could fight in battles that weren't seen in mainstream games. Fighting in 1940s France. Pz2s Char B1s, random french weapons I've never heard of, that's where it's at ;) I'm actually really surprised with the amount of French content that the devs have hiding in the files. That's A LOT of work to put in and I really hope they can get a few maps to showcase them on.

Or put some french pickup kits in the old Bir Hakiem flag on Gazala :P

The French did have one - Mas 38. Who knows how many were equipped though. ;)

In FH1 I loved its fire sound.

That was the most common one, however it only started to arrive on the frontlines in May 1940, a months before the collapse. It was probably used more often by the Germans than by the French. That was also the gun that was used to execute Mussolini, btw. All in all almost 2000 of those were made.

The French had other smgs though, which were used in very small numbers by Group Franc special forces during the phoney war in 1939 and early 1940.

You got the STA smg (1000 made):

The ETVS (50 used):

The Petter smg (50 made):

Then they had several foreign designs in use.

EMP35 (3250, but only 1540 magazines on hand)

Suomi KP31 (150 used on the frontlines)

Thompson M1921 (3000 available, but mostly used in the colonies and by tank destroyer crews)

Didn't the French also have a semi-auto rifle?

It would be great to have France 1940. Would be even better after seeing all those French stuff in the changelog :)
