Game crashes after map has loaded and I click join game

I dont know what happened, but I started up FH2 today and now I cant play. I load up a map, everything goes smoothly, and when I click join it crashes. It even shows me the map for a split second and them bam, nothing.

Its not a freezing crash either, it just dumps the game and goes to desktop without warning.

I dont understand this as I have been playing frequently for 3 weeks now with no crash at all.

Any suggestions?

Have you installed 2.46? And did this happen after the install, or did you have problems with 2.45 as well?

Well I know it updated on its own. I'd imagine I'm running the newest version.

Ive got an AMD 4200+, ati 6670 and 2gb of ddr800, windows xp. Used steam to install BF2. Like I said it was running fine till all of the sudden it just wouldnt. I reinstalled FH and that didnt help. Ive also updated my video drivers. It was running pretty well with high settings, x2 AA. Id also like to mention that PR is installed and it is still running, as is regular BF2. Hope that helps...

Can you try running it in windowed mode, to see if it generates any error messages. You can select this in the launcher.

sorry how would I go about doing that? I only have a launch icon on my desktop, no FH launcher.

My guess is that you still have FH 2.45 (the previous version), since self-updating is a new feature of FH 2.46 (thus you have to manually update an older version), it's not an invisible process, and a ~5GB download is very hard not to notice :)
To upgrade to FH 2.46, you need to download and run one of the files from here: http://forgottenhope.warumdarum.de/fh2_downloads.php . The most "righteous" option is the first one - FH2 Launcher.
