 i must say that the argument that certain behaviours become exploitative has fallen upon deaf ears.

 With only a couple of servers that are all adminned, we can count upon the server staff to take care of people that step out of line and this way the Devs can just focus on making things and letting us figure out whether they work or not.

 (p.s. the whole testing argument is hollow anyways as there isn't a large enough testing team to actually figure out most problems)

Has anybody suggested for Flare flight time improvements? Or perhaps Flare-mortars?
The thing about that is that the flares in their current form (and well any type of dynamic lighting in bf2 engine) are huge resource hogs. My FPS drops by 15-20 everytime I launch a flare. You can say blah blah upgrade your computer but it just puts more demand on the server if you're playing online and is more likely to make the map crash.

Last time I played, it was impossible to hold farmhouse (just one example). I won't start that Cobra story again as it only repeats itself.

Cobra works just fine, but only on 64 servers, its just not designed for anymore than that.  Played it just the other day on the normal 762 server, germans did a fine job defending for awhile, but thats another story.

Cobra would benefit greatly from tweaks to the push code, since it's actually quite ridiculous that the closest flag to the German main is a flag they aren't allowed to attack and cannot recap. I've long thought Cobra would be ten times more fun if the south American main was turned into a German outpost, and was paired with Watermill as the 2 flags that are lost once, lost forever, while Farmhouse can be recapped as many times as needed.

Another minor suggestion: I would really love to see the ambiguity regarding resupplying AT/AA guns removed. My own ideas:

  • Make all weapons have an ammo limit. I don't think any gun of any kind on any map should have infinite ammo, not even the Bofors on Crete. Sure, some guns should effectively be limitless, but give those guns 99 shells or something, so they theoretically could run out and need to be resupplied.
  • Even more importantly, I would like to see an agreed percentage for ammo boxes (the kind dropped from trucks or tossed hopefully at your PaK using an ammo kit). I think we should agree on an amount of shells that each box will resupply, which would be different for every gun, but a consistent percentage of the total ammo loadout. 50%, 25%, whatever, it should be the same for everything.

    Example: let's say one box will reload 50% of a gun's total amount. Here are three guns, using nice round numbers:

    FlaK 36: 40 AP shells
    Hetzer: 30 AP shells
    2pdr: 80 AP shells

    So, when you throw an ammo box at the gun/tank, it replenishes 50%. This would give the FlaK 20 shells, the Hetzer 15, and the 2pdr 40. Therefore, if you fired 9 shells in your Hetzer and then resupplied with an ammo box from a kit, you would go back to your original 30 shells. But if you had fired 19, you would only get 15 from the box (since remember, it replenishes 50%), leaving you with 26 shells instead of 30, unless you waste another ammo box for the last 4.

    The key here is consistency: currently it really sucks how sometimes you seem to get plenty of ammo for your gun, and sometimes not. Sometimes I am out of my 6 Time Fuse HE shells in a matter of minutes, and then I use an ammo box, which replenishes a load of useless AP shells I fired, but doesn't give me any Time Fuse ammo. I don't care if the number is 50% or 10% or 25%, it should just be consistent across the board.
  • Lengthen the auto-destruct delay for ammo trucks. Seriously, and I don't mean to be unkind, but it's fucking ridiculous that a bailed King Tiger sits on the map for 10 minutes doing nothing, when I drive an ammo truck literally 10 seconds from the Church to the 88 on Cobra, park it next to my gun, and it explodes and wounds me and takes half my gun's health after I've been out of it for 10 seconds.
  • I don't think any fixed gun should respawn on it's own (i.e. 25pdr on Olympus). They should all be required to be repaired. Moveable guns should respawn, fixed guns not.
  • Consistency between reloading your hand weapons from an ammo box versus an APC or truck. Currently for some reason it takes twice as long at a truck or APC, when it should be the same.

    This is done on purpose, to prevent nade, zook, Faust spam. But I really don't think it has any effect at all because I have almost never seen a squad using the APC/Truck for ammo, it's almost exclusively used as a taxi to the nearest flag.
