A fellow shooter of mine has both, and he is sure that the K98 has more recoil :/

7.62x54mm= 3700 joules on a 4KG rifle
7.92x57mm= 4000 joules on a 3.7KG rifle

But NOTHING beats the recoil of a M44 mosin nagant.

AND NOTHING! beats the recoil of a Steyr M95-30 stutzen

In terms of diffrence between the K98. The mosin should have simular cycling speed, but a bit slower reloading time.


MAJOR EDIT

Where is the round reciever? I know there are pre 1936 hexa reciever made Mosin nagants, but by the time of 1943 most of the rifles where round recievers :/
I can see the sniper rifle having the round reciever. but not the infantry rifles
or is this one still being made?.


other then that, it looks good. compared it with my own mosin

Are the M38 carbines and M44 also gonna be made?

I'm looking forward to them too as much as seeing The Finnish army in the mod. Unfortunately it feels kind of unlikely they will make it into the first Eastern front release. After all the mosin nagant and these two Finnish rifles are alike with a few differences, for example the iron sight. When I had seen Chad's animation preview video of weapons I saw the iron sight of mosin nagant just fits the best for me, and only time will tell what the iron sight of M/27 Pystykorva and M/39 Ukko-Pekka look like when aiming down the sight.

I hope the weapon & vehicle section on the official website will be updated as soon as possible so we would see how much is already done and this way follow the progress of the Eastern front more easily. Anyhow who knows what Eastern front content is already there but not yet published for the community.
