that can be prevented by weapon handling, not by shader effects.

dont get me wrong, color correction and near death efffect look really cool, but that granny effect its like wighting with a piece of corruged celofan in the face, not inmersive at all ><

Haters gonna hate and whiners gonna whine.

But I must whine a little bit too: Those pics are perhaps the worst screen to show the post processing effects I have seen.

Some of those are the initial proof of concept version pics... It doesn't even looks like that any more...

Scrap that. Now that I look closer: all of those are really old and plain ugly compared to the current state...

Let's list all the previously unseen content found in the video:

-Snowing effect
-New running sounds
-New distant tank sounds
-New map

The vehicles were German. From left to right: Panther-Panzer III-Hanomag-Tiger II
The AT gun was probably a 57mm M1 AT Gun or a 76mm M5 AT Gun

That's what it look liked to me, at least.

Lol you missed one big one. Also there is some new stuff int he pictures too.

Well, I guess the playermodel is new too. Haven't really played in a while so I can't remember.

Mh didnt someone say that FH2 is not posting WIP stuff?
So those are WIP pics, and we can look forward to a more "normal" look?

Cause if the video is ingame graphic, I looks ok.

Then why don´t you show how it "really" looks?
And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.

The film grain is really really subtle. It's barely noticeable during gameplay, because it changes every frame. It's more visible in static images for that reason. It also has a purpose. DXT compression and color correction causes slight 'banding', especially in clear skies. The grain hides this. It's also much less than in most games (L4D for example).

The grain also hides the nature of the temporal dithering on the blur.

Also, in the first image (the one with the C47s, is actually an old screenshot with twice the grain amount. I kept it in the update because it was difficult to reproduce in-game. It was just a random image taken at the right moment, I felt it was more honest than posing it.

Either way, our beta testers were really on top of things to ensure it won't negatively affect gameplay, so don't worry about it. Once you get used to it, you don't want to go back. It really adds much to the immersion.

There's also no noticeable performance impact. In fact, I optimized the shaders so there might even be an improvement. Due to BF2 engine limitations, the shaders also had to conform to Shader Model 2.0, which it still does. I've also added simpler shaders for medium and low quality.

@jan_kurator: it has always looked like that, but yeah, I need to spank a mapper for that.

The question was aimed more towards FH2´s PR-team, than directly at you.
But Remdul gave a nice explanation, so some things are more clear, now. I´m still interested to see the shaders in "real" 1st person view, instead of the 3rd person "over the shoulder" look, as we can see it in the teaser.
