Well, one way you could possibly make a dogfight map, which also included a serious element for land lovers, is create a large open expanse, that is lightly detailed but which looks excellent from the air. Over these parts of the map you could place flags with large (and I emphasize large) radii, up in the sky, with no geometry to make them visible. These flags would be out of bounds for any tanks or infantry to take, and too high in the air even if they somehow found a magical way. No, the only way these flags could be captured is by the fly boys, which would have to dog fight over the zones marked on the minimap.
Whilst, on the ground either in a corner, or through the center of the map, Infantry, Tanks, and others could enjoy a battle that was more or less straight, perhaps with a diamond in the center or a straight flag setup with no push code. That way, there would be a set of 3 or 4 flags for infantry and tankers to fight over, whilst aircraft (which would be in plentiful supply) would be used to take the other flags, (2 or 3 aerial flags) that, in this map, have a higher strategic importance.
Hmm, I think I wanna go map now.
