Messerschmitt Me 323 for Crete
« on: 26-05-2011, 11:05:55 »
I know the usual constraints here but some hotshot modeller might get all excited about this. Ya never know.

Quote
The genesis of the Me 323 was in a 1940 German requirement for a large assault glider in preparation for Operation Sea Lion, the projected invasion of Great Britain. The DFS 230 light glider had already proven its worth in the famous attack on Fort Eben-Emael in Belgium (the first ever assault by gliderborne troops), and would later be used successfully in the Crete invasion in 1941.

If it's not possible to actually carry the vehicles then the aircraft could act as a spawn point for vehicles. Landing could be a problem but I have landed OK on the bomb damaged airfield on Crete ... but not in something of this size.

I do not think that the engine can do it, if you would have vehicles in the plane =/
if it were possible a static which spawn when you cap the airfield and then find in it light tanks or vehicles like a Kübel or something  :)

Agreed... It's unlikely it can be made the other way.

I don't see how this is impossible. Just look at the TB-3s carrying two I-16s flawlessly on that Constanta map.

Now gimme a Waco with AT gun/light howitzer/Willys jeep! :D

Those I-16s spawn attached to the plane.  Any vehicles would have to spawn attached to this transport.  Any vehicle driven in before take off would explode and take the plane with it..

I know, just have that glider spawn the vehicle inside and that's it.

Yeah, if it spawns inside, you'd be fine. Where are you going to be driving to in a plane above the ocean anyways? Might as well wait to land  :)

Um, you realize it wasn't on Kreta, right?  And was only ever used for transport missions, IE, stuff that we don't do ingame?  Like moving stuff from Sicily to Tunisia whilst Rommel was in Lybia?

Why include ME323
When the time to make it
Can be used for the Leichtsgeschutz 75 and stationary 20mm oerlikon?
(Replace one bofors with 2 of these would seriously help balance)
-i am fairly sure that if they took porn off the internet, there would only be one website left and it would be called bring back the porn "Perry cox, Scrubs.

Or understand that putting this in is like putting in a map where all you do is ferry supplies from Sicily to Tunisia with NOTHING HAPPENING.

I'd love to play something like that! Would make a nice change of gameplay!

What Crete needs is angry farmer kits with Lee-enfields portraying the Cretians who fought there.Or even better a spawn kit with pitchforks and some rifle

This.

But yes, the M321 and 323 were never anywhere near Crete, so no, they can't be there.
