It really depends on the situation. In those areas around the Carpathian Mountains the frontlines were shifting pretty fast (100 km per day were possible) so artillery played a "minor" role compared to tanks and transport that saw heavy usage. The engaging forces were on the move basicly all the time wich makes heavy artillery usage more difficult. But don't be affraid. It is likely that you will see some heavy artillery on other maps.
