It has to do with the 100 player server, orinially there only were 64 player servers, but they say modded that to 100.
But now only 64 players get nametags shown i believe, the rest wont get any, so the aiming thing isnt bulltetproof.

Anyways just try to accustome yourself to look at the friendly positions on the map more, better to get into cover check map, than stand somewhere staring a someone for seconds.
If you assault flags shooting from to far isnt advisable anyways, you ll just alert the enemy and if you re far away enough they ll have respawned by the time you get into cap.

There are still fh2 levels without a Sounds.con in their server.zip, such as motovskiy_bay.

But do Sounds.con references to City.eax or Openlandscape.eax work since those do not exist in fh2 common*.zip but only in bf2 common_client.zip?

It would still be quicker and more informative to glance at the mini map (keeping it zoomed out), or open the full map.

Wreck of a command StuG III Ausf. G (MIAG 08.1943 prod.). The summer of 1944, Kuuterselkä.
Spoiler
Ps. 531-29 commanded by Captain Kvikant had destroyed two T-34-85, one ISU-2 and one supply truck full of ammunition, before it was disabled by T-34-85 (?) during the early morning of 15 June 1944. The vehicle was abandoned and destroyed by its crew. Captain Kvikant died two days later from a shrapnel wound to the head (he refused orders to wear a helmet). The gunner, Lance Corporal Haapamäki destroyed IS-2 during the battle of Vuosalmi, 13 July 1944.

Of course we already have the M3 Stuart and Lee like these https://www.o5m6.de/redarmy/m3_volkhov.php, but they would need early scenarios, mainly in 1942.

The Red Army still used them on secondary fronts, such as Petsamo-Kirkenes Offensive in late 1944 (with T-26s, KV-1s etc.).
