Next...is an obvious demonstration of German Bias in game.   :D

This is not german bias, just me on a killing spree ;)

So i was driving around on Totalize with my trusty Churchill.....

I was crossing the river, untill i hear a "plunge" behind me.   I thought it was a panzerfaust who missed..

It was a Faustkubel, the second lamest thing on FH2...

But i zagged a bit to the left, and well.....Well...

Thank god i am in my right. FRAKKING SCRATCHES ALL OVER MY CHURCHILL.I HOPE YOU HAVE GOOD INSURANCE

Wrong, we were just a assault squad trying to take back the windmill with a kuebel blitz attack. As we rushed round the corner your tank was in front and no way of stopping anymore. Also Marv was driving and he isn´t the kind of guy who uses brakes anyway ;)  Was a good laugh in TS for sure.

Same scene, 5 sec later from different view :

General Discussion / Re: Artillery System - what's wrong?

So you guys are saying that it is possible to do mobile arty if the equation is altered to account for slopes and altitude??? ???
Extending the calculation is not needed for mobile arty I think. It´s just if you fire your arty or mortar from a slope you wont hit the center of the spot by aiming at 0,0 on the dials. By extending the calculation it should be possible to correct this. This would also help for mobile arty of course.

Many thanks gunnie. A few things:

If you can get the spotter projectile to output Z coordinates as well, I could provide a suitably modified equation for it that compensates for height.

From looking into C:\Battlefield 2\mods\fh2\python\game\plugins\artillery.py and artillerymath.py it seems that elevation between gun and target is already taken into account (artillerymath.py line 33).

Can you get roll, yaw, and pitch data for the arty? Alternatively, can you output the direction of firing in vector (ijk) format? If so, I may be able to solve the problem with calculating mobile artillery on a slant.

The calculation does not take slopes into account to correct the elevation but I think it could be done by using vehicle.getRotation() and do a correction for the elevation value. Take a look at artillery.py handle_spot and calc_trajectory and artillerymath.py _go and utilitys.py gunElevationDeltaH. Needs some math skills but should not be much of a problem.

Locking the distance to the artey seems kinda...awkward, to tell you the truth. Wouldn't updating the distance every .5 seconds cause next to no latency and yet allow near real time firing? Could you put the differences between X, Y, and Z coordinates into a cartesian distance formula? Seems relatively simple to me, but meh.
I seems as this should already be the case. A timer checks if your spot needs to update. There it always updates if the gun is not "static". Anything in the code might be not working like expected though.

I think the rambo kit in normandy also uses that gebalde ladung

What do define as the rambo kit? Mg42 aint that by a long shot.

I think knife, browning, silenced sten, no69 offensive grenade, satchel charge, binocs and bandages qualifies as "Rambo Kit" :p

I was on hslan two days ago when it crashed on Op. Cobra.
I was axis, entering the church as it was held by the allied and ran up the tower, picked up the stg44, ran up the stairs and took the sniper. As i looked out of that window i saw a panther in front of the church, pointing its barrel at my window. I thought, "omg. church is still allied, most likely he thinks im an enemy and will fire.. please, noo.."  Just in this moment i got the "Server connection problem" Message. Made me quite confused for a sec, because i was so sure that i was going to die. .. might be just coincidence, though.

Count me in. It´s a pleasure being able to help you guys !
Btw, few days ago on HSLAN Operation Cobra crashed just as I was about to park the german spawn halftrack in a very tight space under the barn with the civilian car near airfield.

General Discussion / Re: p-51 that bad ?
« on: 10-01-2010, 02:01:10 »
My only trouble with the P51 so far is just that it seems very easy to get shot out of the Cockpit while making strafing runs. I got killed by an MG42 burst and a shot from an G43 Rifle in the two flights I made. But maybe I just suck as a Pilot  ::)

I'd like to know more about that line by Josey.
this was today on hslan.
some enemy was anouncing "enemy over there" via all chat and Josey tried to confuse the enemy team with this reply :)

Yo

I have 2.2 installed, now when i apply 2.25, it reaches the 1/121 part but it crashes.

The debug files says...

Quote
02:55:02:   target = C:\Archivos de programa\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\fh2\objects_statics_server.zip
02:55:02:   patchlen = 2346647
02:55:02: -> hashfile: C:\Archivos de programa\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\fh2\objects_statics_server.zip
02:55:02: Error: Failing with 'Failed' because: hash_file: fopen failed
02:55:02: Error: Patch suitability verification failed: Failed

And im not sure what to do

The log says "fopen failed". Make sure the file is actually there and that you dont have it opened or in use somewhere when the patcher wants to write to the file.

lol, nice, the best Wyatt report ever  ;D
the scene with the ABBA singer was even a bid sad.

Oh, and I can´t believe that anyone wouldn´t realize the irony and sarcasm of the Jon Stewart Show.  ::)

and to von-Mudra:
Isn´t the anarcho-capitalism that already exists in america today (to some degree) the reason for the worldwirde financial crysis ? Wouldn´t it lead to a "total war" against all health and environmental concerns, just for the sake of profit. The horror..

Some research revealed it to be a Luftwaffe Spoon.

You also have to think about the relatively early time they designed this stuff.
With Tanks and Planes being just invented a few decades earlier, everything seemed possible.
Even if something seemed ridiculous at first, you still had to try it and most likely you had at least some good new Propaganda out of it.
Also it´s very likely that the German Engineers were all reading too much Jules Verne ;)

Yeah, my favourite job on Mersa Matruh:
Get in the jeep as a passenger, pull out a sticky AT Grenade and keep the right mouse button pressed until your driver gets near an enemy tank  ;D

I use Cygwin on Terminator, to ssh to a remote shell running irssi on screen.
Nice, this made my day ! A command line client to use with screen is just perfect.
But why do you use cygwin instead of putty for ssh?
