Cool pic Leopardi. Is it a Panther on the far right, with its turret facing backward ?
Yeah both are clearly panthers.

General Discussion / Re: Cry Engine 3 = Forgotten Hope 3

The proliferation of free licenses for game engines recently means that there are more options than ever to choose from! UE 4 went free this month, and Unity 5 free is offering full features support.

Which can only be good, in the event FH3 ever materializes...

Still, none of those engines can pull off everything Refractor2 can in terms of player numbers and combined arms, without a healthy dose of modification. On the other hand the things they can do, they can do a hundred times prettier and better supported.

The wait continues... :P
Well Squad is still aiming for 100 players on UE4.

I'm going to let you down lightly as I imagine there will be people ready to jump down your throat upon seeing this.

No - this isn't something that will be implemented. These weapons weren't fired from the hip or if they were it was extremely rare - it therefore doesn't represent a realistic use of the weapon. Portrayals of hip firing such weapons tend to be limited to 'reenactors' who want to look like Rambo, and films that want to portray soldiers as Rambo.

The truth of this act is that it would be highly inaccurate, impractical and wasteful. In reality these weapons were used by crews of between 2-6 men - only one of which would carry the weapon, the rest would carry ammunition, tripod, spare barrels, their own rifles, binoculars etc. In FH2 by selecting the machine gunner kit you are essentially taking on the role of 3 different men in real life.

Suggestions / Re: M4A3E8 in F.H 2
« on: 08-02-2015, 17:02:19 »
Isnt the M4A3 76 sherman we have ingame actually that model? It has a muzzle brake for one thing.
No, the E8 used a new kind of suspension for the road wheels.  But in all other ways it is indistinguishable to the M4A3(76)W that we have in game now.
The turret also looks different, there is that flexible cover thingy in the base of the cannon and it has a muzzle brake the in-game model doesn't have either.

Smoke grenades that make a very irritating/poison smoke, if thrown onto a tank it had a  chance of going inside the tank through the ventilation system, if that happens the crew can choose, die or open the tank hatches and run for it. Also the crew is completely blinded due to the smoke. A very close range and last resort anti tank weapon realy, but it did give you the chance to capture a tank fully intact.
There were all kinds of similar weapons.

Blinding bottle training with T-34, will spread some sticky goo on the drivers hatch and start burning blinding the rest of the tank.

Best way to make FH2 look good is to just bump up proper supersampling anti-aliasing with anisotropic filtering.
