HTroop is a mini-mod for Battlefield 1942, 14 years in the making!  For all those that have been waiting for HTroop v1.0b8's Dedicated Server to be up and running, NOW IS THE TIME! To download HTroop v1.0b8, goto: htroop.hootsclan.com

Register there, and wait to have your account approved, to view the link for the Downloads page.

To connect to the dedicated server, view the Downloads page as well.

I have finally gotten HTroop v1.0b8's Dedicated Server up and running!

I installed Team Simple's new Battlefield 1942 patched version, as well as the expansions, then installed HTroop and its other required mods.

I hit a few bumps along the way though.  The clients were connecting to the server, but when they loaded, it would crash in CoOp mode.  It was the silliest problem.  HTroop v1.0b8 works over the dedicated in CoOp mode now, but the server only allows up to 10 players (bot or other) in CoOp mode lol.  Over Conquest, Team Death Match, and Objective modes, there doesn't seem to be a maximum number of players.  So, I am repacking the HTroop v1.0b8 Full Install files right now, and will place them back where they are supposed to be, to allow them to be downloaded from the download page.  Anyone interested in finally playing HTroop v1.0b8, may download the install files, by going to:

htroop.hootsclan.com

Then you must login.  After logging in, you should be able to see the Downloads link.

Please inform me asap, if you would like to get onto the server and play.  Btw, do not forget to open your TCP/UDP ports for Inbound and Outbound, in your advanced firewall settings; port number 14567 for the Bf1942.exe.

Remember also, to "Allow" Bf1942.exe in your firewall.

Thank You,

Joshua
Professor Smith

P.S.-If anyone can tell me why the Dedicated Server specifically, isn't allowing more than 10 players/bots without crashing, it would be much appreciated.  I have no problems running with more than 10 player slots over a CoOp mode game or otherwise, when starting a game within Battlefield from the in game menu; only when running it from a dedicated server.  I have tried bf1942.exe & the dedicated files of v1.612, and it does not help.  As far as I know, it is not HTroop doing it, as it works just fine when not doing a dedicated game.  Any ideas anyone?

Here are the stats of the VDS I am running HTroop off of through nfoservers.com:

Access to four HT CPU cores (Intel Sandy Bridge or better)
    4096 MB of RAM
    400 GB of RAID-protected storage
    24000 GB of bandwidth transfer

General Discussion / HTroop v1.0b8 Dedicated Server
« on: 14-08-2016, 15:08:59 »
Hello,
I just wanted everyone to know that I have finally rented a dedicated server, and am currently in the process of setting it up.  Admittingly, though networking is not new to me, server software and configuration is very new to me, so I am doing my best to slowly muddle through.  I am uploading the necessary files to make an HTroop v1.0b8 server, run.  Hopefully, the server will be ready in a couple weeks, for those that wish to download all the necessary mods to play.  I will post again with the server connection info (with download links of HTroop v1.0b8 & all other mods required to run my mini mod), once the server is ready.

Thank You All,

Joshua

General Discussion / What does this script actually do?
« on: 26-11-2015, 06:11:10 »
Hello Folks,
I have searched far and wide on the net regarding this question before asking on the forums.  Everyone says that for modding purposes, the game.customGameFlushArchives script in the init.con file of a mod, should be set to 0 (False), but no one speaks of what the script actually does if set to 1 (True).  Does anyone know?  If you do know, please share it with me, just so that I know that running a mini-mod, reading off of other mods, doesn't require me to have it set to True lol.

Thank You,

Josh

Hello Everyone,
I wanted to wish Everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, and wanted to Thank All of Those Modders, Editors, and Players so far that have been offering their advice and experience, helping me to correct various errors in HTroop along the way.
As for the most recent blockade, for certain maps (when running on a dedicated server), I get the host error of "Too many statemasks" or "out of ghost ids" (either error when playing as a client, or switching between maps; sometimes the client is kicked, and must rejoin, but the server stays in tact).
I am under the impression from multiple sources, that I must simply decrease the number of spawning objects within the map, or the number of networkableinfo scripts in the objects.con, physics.con, & weapon.con files.
Most of the maps I have corrected in this fashion, are now working over Internet or LAN, but once in a while, I get a map where it just won't
stop the "ghosting", "stuck in limbo" effect in game as the client; 0 Hit Points, able to move your weapon, but not able to walk.  From another
client's view of another player "stuck" in this way, the "stuck" client is invisible, but the name tag can be seen.  The same goes for bots in CoOp.
Does anyone know of a solution to this issue?  If so, please respond asap.  There area a few well made maps that I would enjoy promoting
through HTroop , as well as every one of the working maps so far.

Thank You,

Josh

I have figured out most of the problems regarding the appearance of the singleplayer maps in the coop list, and have been making said maps into CoOp/Singleplayer maps, instead of removing them.  My goal is to release HTroop v1.0b8 by Christmas; New Years at the latest.

Hello Everyone,

HTroop v1.0b5, v1.0b6, and v1.0b7 are ready to be downloaded! You may find it by clicking the Downloads Link on the main HTroop Forum page at:

htroop.hootsclan.com

(You must register as a new user and have your account activated by me, to be able to view the downloads page.)

Please share your comments or feel free to discuss or ask questions, regarding HTroop. Remember to make sure you are downloading and installing the correct files for your computer (i.e. retail or origin versions and client or server versions of each install file). For Htroop to run smoothly, please install AT LEAST v1.0b5 & v1.0b6 (in that order). If you wish to install v1.0b7, please read below.

PLEASE NOTE: HTroop v1.0b7 installs some amazing singleplayer only maps. However, in doing so, I was unable to stop some of those said maps, from showing up in the Multiplayer map lists. If you choose not to install v1.0b7 because of this, I understand. These "unwanted" multiplayer maps may or may not cause problems over multiplayer games. These install files are beta after all. However, if you run an HTroop server that others may join, 1. Please inform me of it, so that I may join (lol), and 2. Inform players that they must have up to a specific version (i.e. v1.0b6 or v1.0b7) to play.

Remember, HTroop is a mini-mod and requires other mods to be installed, to play HTroop. Below, is a list of mods required to play HTroop, and their download links:

*Battlefield 1942 (Version 1.61)

(Install Bf1942 using the Retail/CD version or the Origin Games version; if using retail, I suggest updating to v1.61 or v1.61b. If you only have the retail/cd version, simply download and install origin games, redeem your product code [cd key of your retail/cd copy of bf1942], & download/install bf1492 on origin games.)

*Battlefield: The Road to Rome (Version 1.6)

*Battlefield: Secret Weapons of World War II (Version 1.6)

(The two mods above are expansions for Bf1942, and they can be found only for the retail/cd version of Bf1942 that I know of. If I am incorrect, please share where you can find these expansions for the origin games version of bf1942. If you have the origin games version of bf1942, simply install these expansion mods into the origin games folder instead of the ea games folder. If they install in the pre programmed folder [ea games], copy and paste them into your origin games/battlefield 1942/mods folder.)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*Forgotten Hope (Version 0.7)
You may download Forgotten Hope at one of these websites below:

http://www.moddb.com/mods/forgotten-hope/d...pe-07-full-win7

or

http://www.gamefront.com/files/listing/pub.../Forgotten_Hope

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(THIS MOD IS NOT REQUIRED, BUT I DO RECOMMEND THIS AMAZING MOD)

*Eve of Destruction: The Indochina Vietnam Conflict (Version 1.50)

**Don't worry, you can still download and play EoD v2.51. The HTroop installation file, installs both HTroop in the Mods folder, as well as EoD v1.50 in the Mods\HT_Data folder, allowing HTroop to read off of EoD v1.50, with no problems. As of the current moment, HTroop does not work with EoD v2.51. So just install HTroop, and HTroop will have EoD v1.50 within the HT_Data folder to read the data, without actually allowing you to play EoD v1.50. Though HTroop does not work with EoD v2.51, I do recommend downloading and playing it, as it is an amazing mod. You may download it at the address given below:

(Note:  I have posted this in another topic just recently, but it was suggested I post again in a more noticeable topic.)

Hello Folks,
I have fixed a whole bunch of various things from the last 2 releases of HTroop beta (v1.0b5 & v1.0b6), and am now releasing HTroop v1.0b7. Included in the update v1.0b7, are scads of singleplayer only maps, a working Lazer Tower that the bots are incredible at using, and a whole bunch of other things that have never been done in any other mod that I know of.

Please remember to download and install all 3 versions in a row to ensure HTroop working correctly (and to download and install the other mods required; look for their download links within the forum news section, under the post: "HTroop v1.0b5 Is Ready For Download!"), for HTroop to work properly. Enjoy!

(Please remember, this is a mini-mod for Bf1942, so either the retail or origin version of Battlefield 1942 is required.)

General Discussion / HTroop v1.0b6 Is Ready For Download!
« on: 14-03-2015, 15:03:15 »
Hello Folks,

I have recently released HTroop v1.0b6, which you can download at:  htroop.hootsclan.com

It includes 3rd person view for tank and mobile artillery combat.  I also fixed all the maps to work over a dedicated server, increased bot intelligence, and fine tuned a few things.

Please download it and try it out.  If you're interested, message me on htroop.hootsclan.com for the ip address to the dedicated server.

Thank You,

Professor Smith

General Discussion / HTroop Server Help Please
« on: 20-01-2015, 02:01:42 »
Howdy Folks,

The HTroop v1.0b6 Dedicated Server is up and running, but almost every map at one point or another, has randomly crashed the server, as the maps switch from one map to the next in the server map list.  Sometime's the maps will switch successfully, and sometimes they'll lock up and/or crash the server.

Does anyone know what could be wrong or how to fix this?

Is there a script I could place in the game.rfa or specific map.rfa files (or in the server files themselves), to make the server skip a map as it's about to crash the server?

Thank You,

Joshua

For now though, until the error is fixed and a patch made, anyone that has taken the time to download and install HTroop and the other mods required to run HTroop v1.0b5, may simply place the HTroop mod folder into a separate folder not within the Battlefield 1942 folder. When they wish to play HTroop, they must simply cut and paste it back into the mods folder, then start Battlefield 1942.

General Discussion / HTroop - Animation Error - Please Help!
« on: 22-11-2014, 21:11:46 »
Hello Again,
Even though HTroop (my mini-mod for bf1942) runs just fine itself, in singleplayer and over a server, there is an error within it that seems to be causing problems loading maps in the other mods from which HTroop reads.  Here is the error:

Animations/state not found:

Ub_FireM1A1_60mm_Bazooka

File:  Animations/AnimationStatesMod.con
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are the scripts which have the line above within the AnimationStatesMod.con file:

AnimationStateMachine.set1pAnimationSpeed Ub_FireM1A1_60mm_Bazooka 1.00

AnimationStateMachine.set3pAnimationSpeed Ub_FireM1A1_60mm_Bazooka 1.00

AnimationStateMachine.setactiveState Ub_FireM1A1_60mm_Bazooka
AnimationStateMachine.setCameraShakeRoll 0 0.5 800.0
AnimationStateMachine.setCameraShakePitch 0 0.25 900.0
AnimationStateMachine.setCameraShakeYaw 0 0.5 100.0
AnimationStateMachine.setCameraShakeUpDown 0 1 500
AnimationStateMachine.setCameraShakeInOut 0 0.4 8
AnimationStateMachine.setCameraShakeLeftRight 0 0.8 100
AnimationStateMachine.setCameraShakeFadeOut 0 3
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong and how to fix the problem?

Thank You,

Josh
