The map has undergone a major overhaul in 2.2.

We have yet to playtest the new version, but if it plays as well as it looks........well, be prepared for one intense fight on both sides!  ;)

You don't have to play, just read the forums. Those screens are from Tilly sur Seules better known as Villers-Bocage. In development, low change it'll make it into release.

Says who?

Use any, and all means to defeat the enemy. that includes using AA guns in the anti-personnel role.
It is well documented that anti aircraft guns were used against soft targets on the ground by both the allied and the axis powers, so why shouldn't that be reflected in FH2?

Yes, that is what I want.  However, I want to know exactly how a flak38 shell impacted such soft targets like infantry, etc.

I want it to be a much more direct hit rather than the massive splash that the current flak guns in FH2 have.  I highly doubt flak guns did so much splash damage as is represented ingame atm.  The damage needs to be scaled down and I think the black smoke effect is very ugly.

Is there any new concept art or wallpapers in production for FH2?

FatJoe can answer that question for you!  ;)

It's just a regular M4A4. What you guys think is a barrel is actually a tree branch!

As for AA guns, well, we need maps with planes before we need AA guns...

I think the AA guns need to be redone, damage-wise.  I can't find any detailed information or footage of what a flak38 shell impact looks like, but I have only seen it represented as it is in that one scene from 'Saving Private Ryan' and in other contemporary media. I liked how the damage and projectile was in FH1, which is like in that scene.

The shells have very little, if any, splash damage and they only produce a small displacement of dust/dirt instead of a heavy, black 'ack ack' cloud.

The damage area and splash area of the flak guns in FH2 should be drastically reduced and the shell effect (the thick, black 'ack ack' cloud) needs to be replaced with some other effect like that which is produced by the pzii AP shell.  I want to use my precious flak guns on 'soft targets' without them being massive rape machines which are just point and click and that need to be restricted in their field of view/fire!

@bosco:

what are your system specs?  Mainly, what graphics card do you run?  Your FH2 looks beautiful!  :o

This vehicle seems pretty much unfinished, I'm actually confused how more people (especially betatesters) haven't noticed those issues and reported them.

I agree.  As to us betatesters not noticing such things: the sahariana was added late into the development of 2.15 and is not featured on many maps.  It seems many of these issues do not appear in local servers, which is  the main option available to individual testers like me when looking for bugs.

Basically, the sahariana was functioning well enough to allow it to be added to the 2.15 patch.  These issues will be looked into.

I made a screenshot myself but I too currently can't upload images to the internal DB. I saved it on my desktop incase a dev requests an image in the next few weeks.

Can we get someone to fix the attachment problem on the bugtracker?

Giant Rock > Giant Scissors

I tested it more and what someone in FF forums said was confirmed: it happens only on local server.

Yes.  That has been around since before the public release of the mod.

However, I noticed it recently (i.e. several months ago) on a public server.  I saw a steilhandgranate impact a bofors gun and that effect was present.  I tried to replicate it at that time, but was unable to IIRC.

In any case, perhaps the material of the steilhandgranate should be reviewed or something.  I don't know what determines specific effects to be displayed on impact of certain surfaces, but there must be some kind of error with the steilhandgranate.

Comfirmed, added as bug 996 in the DB.

I also noticed that the gun (located just outside the German main base / town) is placed to high and you hae to jump in order to enter.

Is that the static mg15?  If it is, I have a screenshot of it.  I did not get around to reporting it yet because I am unable to add attachments to tickets on the bug tracker.   ???

It sounds like he is saying that when the static Lewis gun in one of the trenches is destroyed (leaving only the bipod mount), there is a collision that remains which does not allow bullets to pass through.

I'll look into this later when I find the time.

Confirmed, though I don't know if the devs can do much about it (the not being able to exit). Added as #997 to bug DB.

This also affects such things as static and deployable mortars.  It seems the exit/entrance point becomes blocked in some way preventing you from either exiting or entering the mortar/gun.

Bug Reporting / Re: [HUD] Strange HUD Bug
« on: 03-04-2009, 00:04:24 »
I never had this problem, anybody else?

After I saw this reported on the old forums I began to pay a little more attention when playing FH2. It seems that if you die while in a vehicle or static gun, the bar on the vehicle HUD that displays the name and passenger positions remains in that blank form on your screen until you respawn.

General Discussion / Re: BF1943
« on: 02-04-2009, 04:04:48 »
Why whine?  :-\

I am still going to buy BF1943 and I think it looks quite enjoyable!  :P

But in the interviews regarding the game, the developers keep saying that it is a small project that they decided to make after initially fooling around with the FrostBite engine.  They even said themselves that they do not have any plans on adding further content to the game.  Of course, they said if it is a success then they will probably add more maps and some other things, but I doubt on the scale that you described.

When I labeled it as not the next "real" battlefield, I meant in longevity and scope (community/mods/player numbers supported).  BF1942 lasted quite a while and had many mods and now BF2 has taken its place, of course with much less success in the mod sector in relation to BF1942 in its prime.

BF: Vietnam, BF2142, etc are all expansions of the "real" battlefield games...or maybe "core" or "central" is a better word than "real."  They are their own unique and separate/full games, but they do not have/ have not had the same  longevity and scope compared to BF1942 and BF2.
