Developer Blogs / Re: Updated and new textures

Fairly unusual, somewhat hard-edged cam on that Tiger.

Voted for Arad, but also loving Dukla, Seelow.

Arad and Dukla both looks, feels nice. No further feedback on these since the devs are already tweaking some balance factors.

Regarding Ostfront - I'd love to see a map based upon the "Battle of Târgu Frumos", where Tiger Is of Großdeutschland knocked out a good number of IS-2s at 1,200 to 1,500 meters (erhm!)... that or Köningsberg.

"The Battle of Anzio" would be nice (even though it's Americans vs. Germans), esp. when one company from schwere Panzerjäger-Abteilung 653 was attached to schwere-Panzer-Abteilung 508, which both were assigned to Fallschirm-Panzer Division "Hermann Göring".

The Allied air supremacy and the American naval artillery forced these vehicles to take narrow country roads.. and the heavy rains made these roads even worse. It was a disaster for the Germans, leading to numerous casualties and material losses.

Technical note: Elefants used during this operation didn't carry any tactical numbers either.

Developer Blogs / Re: How to make an Eastern Front map

About the StuH: probably not, since I would only place that on a map that has the corresponding StuG (for texture load) and imo it fits better on a map where they Germans are on the offensive and need to blast people our of buildings.

Sounds reasonable.
Historically, the StuK 40 was struggling to deal with the newer Soviet armour (head-on), when the StuH 42 was capable of KO'ing 'em left and right. But I realize the StuH is more of a bunker buster in the game.

Likewise, 1 of the Panzer IVs will be turned into a StuG

I realize you are a man of vision, but any chance for a StuH? There were deployed during the battle, from 24.PzD and 300, 301, 311 StuG brigades.

Great mod, love playing.  Many hours of Coop mode and no other game I've ever played comes close to the experience I have with FH!

I hear ya. Now with Darman & company's co-op option for the new maps... it's the glory. One sweet thing about the coop is that you can adjust the vehicles (= balance) for your own liking.

Only if we'd have Soviet skins for some M4s... but I am guessing, Matt Baker is already working on this?   :)

There is at least one map in the pipeline that will have a StuH on it.

Great! I am hoping it will be on the Ostfront and that 105mm StuH 42 L/28 could pop the turret off on those Soviet tanks  8)

This vehicle is currently featured only in one map, when there were over 1,300 produced and they saw action till the war's end (nearly 300 were still in service, April '45).

If the gun could be revamped slightly to match some of the reports from 1944:

The Army Group Ukraine South, 9.1944;
"The Assault Howitzer continues to perform brilliantly. Ricochet fire has great effect. Successfully defeating tanks at up to 1,200 meters. Concentrated fire of several Assault Howitzers proved highly effective against large pockets of resistance."

I love these guys and those who are with the FH2. The only game I play.

So it's actually possible to have a map with Maus (albeit without 100% historical accuracy)?
Though on the other hand devs need to make a vehicle just for one map then, doubt that would happen  :-\
unless what was said before is true and they have a hidden maus somewhere in game files

Right, it wouldn't be historically significant.. but then again our developers never cease to amaze. It could be a map just for fun, with ad-hoc tanks and some type of facility suitable for close-quarters combat.

A couple years back someone posted pictures of Jagdtiger that was imported from FH1, and it looked quite gnarly... To match the one at Kummersdorf, it would just need to be plain dunkelgelb with balkenkreuz + zimmerit. Just an idea, if we couldn't have Maus - it would still have the same weapon with 10x Winkelzielfernrohr 2/1 sight, but still the side armor could be penetrated even by the T-34/85.

I would actually love to play a map with Maus but then again the history says it got blown up by it's own crew so that soviet's couldnt take it.. well they still did

Ditto. This could be loosely based upon the Soviet forces' takeover of Kummersdorf. There are various, mixed reports on what really happened:

"In late 1944, a unit was formed, and at a meeting in the Fuhrer's headquarters it was referred to as tank company "Kummersdorf". This unit consisted of three tank platoons (mostly still mobile), one recon platoon of armored vehicles, an infantry (Grenadier) platoon and one tank platoon, consisting of a Tiger II, a single Jagdtiger heavy tank destroyer two American Shermans, the Carro Armato P 40 Heavy Tank and several Borgward IVs armed with machine guns. According to a Telex on April 4, 1945, at least part of a tank company should have been transferred to the district of Dresden.
Non-mobile equipment, including a VK 4501 (P) took part in combat south-east of Kummersdorf, where they and workers, civilians and other people at the facility were thrown together to make a makeshift grenadier unit. By the battles end, the VK 4501 (P) had destroyed a single T-34 and the Grenadiers had destroyed several others, a nearby 88 mm (8.8 cm) flak gun destroyed another advancing T-34. The entire unit failed in their mission and dispersed into the nearby woods."

Great, thanks guys! Downloading it now  :o

Sure. Not going to nitpick all your answers, but c'mon;

Stug III and others have only 2.5x magnification gun sights

Sfl.Z.F. 1a = 5x / 8 degrees

No need for links, I have a library worth of "few" thousands on the German and Allied armour - I can do some healthy comparisons based upon this. But you can always stick to your WoT/Warthunder, if the Soviet bias is not strong enough for you  ::)
