FH 0.7 Help / Support / How do I use this admin command?
« on: 23-01-2018, 05:01:49 »
Hello Folks,
My name is Joshua Hales (known as Professor_Smith in the Bf1942 forums and Grand_Admiral on the servers).  I am working on playtesting & doing finishing touches for my minimod, HTroop v1.1, but in the mod near the end of most maps, there are usually bot scouts (using the rocketpack) up in the air, avoiding getting wacked by their opponents.  However, the problem, is that they are so smart, that they refuse to come down out of the air, unless there are no enemies around at the time.
So, I looked up some admin commands, and found this one:

game.killPlayer [ID]

I know I can type this into the admin console to have effect, and I think I can use it to kill off any rocketpack hovering scouts refusing to let the map end.  However, how do I know what number ID or whatever ID, should go in the [ID] slot?  Also, do I use the brackets [ and ], in the command?

I was also wondering if there was a way (a command or a button I can program in) to kill all the remaining bots at the same time in a map?

Thank You,

Joshua Hales

Hello,
Most of you know me by now.  My name is Joshua Hales (known as Professor Smith in the various Bf1942 Forums, and as Grand Admiral on the various Bf1942 Servers - in which I have frequented and performed my duties as a serious and supportive fellow soldier).  I am seeking a server owner that is willing to place my (not so mini) mini-mod, HTroop v1.0b81 on their gaming server.  I guarantee that you will have players.  There are many that have downloaded and installed HTroop, but are just waiting for me to place it on a server, so that they can play.  I even game Bf1942 mod reviewers on standby, waiting for an HTroop server to go up, so that they can livestream as they play and review it (which will also bring players to your server).  It is a lot to download and install, but if you think about it, a lot of the mods HTroop requires to run, are mods that you yourselves area already running on your servers (such as Road to Rome, Secret Weapons of WWII, Forgotten Hope, Desert Combat, and more).  So installing a few extra smaller mods and then a larger one (HTroop v1.0b81), wouldn't be much wast of hd space.
If you are truly interested in running an HTroop server (and promise that you won't change the mod - i.e. server side modding it, so that players can't enter uncapturable bases, or changing the game mechanics, etc.), please contact me by replying to this post or PMing me.
To download HTroop and all its required mods, please visit (and register for if you do not yet have an activated account):  htroop.mricesolutions.com

Thank You,

Since my write up of HTroop is too long, I have attached it as a text file, for download.

I just wanted everyone to know that it took me a lot of time to get to the point where I could actually afford to use some of my spending money to rent a dedicated server to run HTroop v1.0b8. I thought that it'd be up for a year, but I could only afford 3 months. So, I only have roughly, another month left to get players on there, playing at the same time, testing out everything that HTroop has to offer. I promise to release something soon, describing more in depth, what HTroop v1.0b8 is, and why it is not like other mods you've played. How else could I have gotten 12 mods to work in unison? So, if you are interested in giving it a try, as I have done many a time, trying out and playing on various servers for bf1942 vanilla & modded, please do so now. Unless I actually get players starting to try it out online, and playtest a bit for the mod, review it, post it, something, the 14 years of creation for the entertainment of others, and all those playtesters work before you, would be for nought. Please join me in playing HTroop v1.0b8, by registering for free at my forum, which will go down with the server (most likely). Once registered, I will activate your account, at which time, you may login, see the downloads link, click it, and be redirected to the downloads page. On the downloads page, you will find installation instructions and notes, as well as the IP & Port for the server (which is listed on the new master list). The address is: htroop.hootsclan.com
Thank You Everyone who has and plans to play on the dedicated server with one another. Thank you and everyone else, for putting up with my promotions of HTroop v1.0b8 and the Dedicated Server.

General Discussion / Can anyone help me figure this out?
« on: 10-09-2016, 20:09:52 »
Okay, so now there is one other issue I am running into.  The server is still running, no problem there.  However, something I created (the ability for flamethrower fire, lazer tower fire, and other fire effects to burn on objects and the ground and actually damage/kill soldiers if they get to close), seems to be working in SinglePlayer games & over a LAN, but over the dedicated server, it only has the visual effect of burning.  However, it does not damage or kill any soldiers over the dedicated server.  I have tried multiple combinations of networkableinfo settings, adding an end effect template to the projectile, adding the burning effect template to the projectile, etc., and nothing seems to fix this issue.  Can anyone help me fix this?  I have flamethrowers that use this effect, I have flame weapons on tanks that use it, and I have a lazer tower (yes, spelled that way on purpose), that used the effect.

Thank You,

Joshua

I have finally gotten HTroop v1.0b8's Dedicated Server up and running!

I installed Team Simple's new Battlefield 1942 patched version, as well as the expansions, then installed HTroop and its other required mods.

I hit a few bumps along the way though.  The clients were connecting to the server, but when they loaded, it would crash in CoOp mode.  It was the silliest problem.  HTroop v1.0b8 works over the dedicated in CoOp mode now, but the server only allows up to 10 players (bot or other) in CoOp mode lol.  Over Conquest, Team Death Match, and Objective modes, there doesn't seem to be a maximum number of players.  So, I am repacking the HTroop v1.0b8 Full Install files right now, and will place them back where they are supposed to be, to allow them to be downloaded from the download page.  Anyone interested in finally playing HTroop v1.0b8, may download the install files, by going to:

htroop.hootsclan.com

Then you must login.  After logging in, you should be able to see the Downloads link.

Please inform me asap, if you would like to get onto the server and play.  Btw, do not forget to open your TCP/UDP ports for Inbound and Outbound, in your advanced firewall settings; port number 14567 for the Bf1942.exe.

Remember also, to "Allow" Bf1942.exe in your firewall.

Thank You,

Joshua
Professor Smith

P.S.-If anyone can tell me why the Dedicated Server specifically, isn't allowing more than 10 players/bots without crashing, it would be much appreciated.  I have no problems running with more than 10 player slots over a CoOp mode game or otherwise, when starting a game within Battlefield from the in game menu; only when running it from a dedicated server.  I have tried bf1942.exe & the dedicated files of v1.612, and it does not help.  As far as I know, it is not HTroop doing it, as it works just fine when not doing a dedicated game.  Any ideas anyone?

Here are the stats of the VDS I am running HTroop off of through nfoservers.com:

Access to four HT CPU cores (Intel Sandy Bridge or better)
    4096 MB of RAM
    400 GB of RAID-protected storage
    24000 GB of bandwidth transfer

General Discussion / HTroop v1.0b8 Dedicated Server
« on: 14-08-2016, 14:08:59 »
Hello,
I just wanted everyone to know that I have finally rented a dedicated server, and am currently in the process of setting it up.  Admittingly, though networking is not new to me, server software and configuration is very new to me, so I am doing my best to slowly muddle through.  I am uploading the necessary files to make an HTroop v1.0b8 server, run.  Hopefully, the server will be ready in a couple weeks, for those that wish to download all the necessary mods to play.  I will post again with the server connection info (with download links of HTroop v1.0b8 & all other mods required to run my mini mod), once the server is ready.

Thank You All,

Joshua

General Discussion / What does this script actually do?
« on: 26-11-2015, 06:11:10 »
Hello Folks,
I have searched far and wide on the net regarding this question before asking on the forums.  Everyone says that for modding purposes, the game.customGameFlushArchives script in the init.con file of a mod, should be set to 0 (False), but no one speaks of what the script actually does if set to 1 (True).  Does anyone know?  If you do know, please share it with me, just so that I know that running a mini-mod, reading off of other mods, doesn't require me to have it set to True lol.

Thank You,

Josh

Hello Everyone,
I wanted to wish Everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, and wanted to Thank All of Those Modders, Editors, and Players so far that have been offering their advice and experience, helping me to correct various errors in HTroop along the way.
As for the most recent blockade, for certain maps (when running on a dedicated server), I get the host error of "Too many statemasks" or "out of ghost ids" (either error when playing as a client, or switching between maps; sometimes the client is kicked, and must rejoin, but the server stays in tact).
I am under the impression from multiple sources, that I must simply decrease the number of spawning objects within the map, or the number of networkableinfo scripts in the objects.con, physics.con, & weapon.con files.
Most of the maps I have corrected in this fashion, are now working over Internet or LAN, but once in a while, I get a map where it just won't
stop the "ghosting", "stuck in limbo" effect in game as the client; 0 Hit Points, able to move your weapon, but not able to walk.  From another
client's view of another player "stuck" in this way, the "stuck" client is invisible, but the name tag can be seen.  The same goes for bots in CoOp.
Does anyone know of a solution to this issue?  If so, please respond asap.  There area a few well made maps that I would enjoy promoting
through HTroop , as well as every one of the working maps so far.

Thank You,

Josh
