Does this work with the current version of FH2?

Hey MovingTarget, actually, some maps are working in 2.53. Excepting Sammatus, that shows python related error and won't work at all, the rest work just fine, as far as I can see. Arad and Dukla Pass have some lightmapping issues (as explained by Ts4EVER here >>> http://fhpubforum.warumdarum.de/index.php?topic=20003.msg357185#msg357185), but the gameplay isn't affected. But you won't see the updated kits and stuff, like the Luftfaust B on Seelow...

FH2 Help / Support / Re: Crashes for some reason

Hi NForcer.

I do not use the installer you mentioned, and I don't know what maps it come with, but the thing is, the EF maps in patch 2.52 and 2.53 have no COOP/SP support. I use the MapPack released more than 2 years ago by Darman (http://fhpubforum.warumdarum.de/index.php?topic=20690.0), but Sammatus is showing the same problems as yours, because some Finnish kits were updated with the new Lahti pistol, and the old COOP support version wasn't updated as well.

So, you have two options: try to update the kits in this level by yourself (there is a guide somewhere in the forums explaining it), at your own risk; or wait to some official or unofficial support to the new maps being released.

Hey Ts. Indeed, they are not. That's why I'm posting right here, to see if someone that uses the good old pack have the same problems. About the official maps, they are running juuuust fine, as usual. But you see, I got fond of this addon, and wouldn't like to set the maps aside.

As I am no coder, I have to wait and see if Darman is still around... I hope so.

Thanks for the answer sir!

Alright, there we go...

As I downloaded and installed the new patch, but unable to play them on COOP, I continued with my routine on the older maps, including these from the Forgotten Maps Pack and those from the EF 2.52. As I expected, most of them are showing issues. :-\ :-\ :-\

I'm sure these problems are related to 2.53 because they weren't happening until yesterday. So, if someone are experiencing the same problems, or others related, or if anyone has a solution for them, feel free to post here! I don't know if Darman are checking the forum nowadays, so I don't know if we can count on his support by now. Anyway, below is a small list with the issues I have seen so far. I'll try to test more maps and keep listing the bugs...

 - Advance on Foy (all layers): most of times, the game crashes on loading screen, at 62%. The only time it managed to load, the game crashed a couple of minutes after round started.
 - Arad (all layers): some houses have lightning problems. The textures looked messed up, with bright and totally black spots, mainly on roofs but on some walls too, as a chess board. :P The gameplay is quite good though.
 - Beda Fomm: the game crashes after a couple of minutes of round start.
 - Bloody Gulch (all layers): always crashes after 15 or 30s of gameplay. And some statics have the same problem as Arad.
 - Dukla Pass (all layers): the same lightmap issues as Arad, but this matter was explained by Ts just below. The gameplay is fine.
 - Sammatus (all layers): this map shows a python problem right on the start, something related to kits. The game always crashes.

Thanks in advance!

Just installed the new patch, and I'm stunned by the new content. New maps are awesome: very well modelled, with breathtaking sceneries, and lots of nice places to defend and attack (I'm impressed by the number of trenches, dugouts and strongholds). In other words, these maps will be fun to play, even with the good old bots.

But, for now, not a word on COOP support, what's a pity, unfortunately. But I've been following the threads and the devs said well before that SP support wasn't planned for now. Of course, these guys are doing a lot of work, and probably we won't see any COOP/SP update for a while. It's important to remember that even EF 2.52 maps haven't "official" COOP support until now, so I wouldn't count on this.

But, I'm waiting to see if Darman shows up with good news for us single players. His Forgotten Maps pack, as well the EF maps are truly gems, and we can count with some surprises, as long he is still involved with FH2. I haven't seen any posts of Darman for a while, so I don't know if he is around, but I would give some time, since we got the new patch just today, and see what happens in the next few weeks.

I'm with Knochen. Looks like your browser, or your system is already compromised somehow. Probably the malware was already in your system before you tried to download the files.

And yes, at least for me, the formatting is the best option in this case. You'll be sure nothing have left and will give some fresh air for your machine. So, time to get that external drive, save everything you can and get down to business. Good luck!

Humm, this looks strange. I've been modding BF1942, BF2 and IL-2 1946 with multiple mods (BF1918, FH, FH2, PR:BF2, VPModPack) in multiple computers using different OS, and never got such warnings.

You might want take a look at your anti-virus and other security configs. Some of them can be a real PITA and keep telling you everything you install on your rig is a "virus". Norton and McAfee are notable for such behavior.

Hope you get everything running safe and sound!

Hey nickm. You can find more COOP maps in this thread: http://fhpubforum.warumdarum.de/index.php?topic=20003.0, all of them by Darman. Here you will find some NA maps plus Western Europe, including St. Mére Église, Carentan and Bloody Gulch (Hill 30). Same procedures to install and run them, so I think you'll have no issues here.

About Italy and Pacific Theatres, the CMP have quite a good number of maps, BUT they are not available to SP/COOP. Darman said in occasion he could take a look on these, but the man hasn't posted anything for a while, so he's probably busy with stuff somewhere. In a conspiracy thought, I think (and that's only me, and I can be wrong) he's working with the devs to bring some awesome news to the SP/COOP community in the next patch... Who knows.

But I can assure you that his map packs are worth the try, and keep coming back to see if some new shit are available here.

Yay! That's what I could call "reeeeal goooood"!  ;D

The T-26 is, with no doubt, a huge, I mean, HUGE step towards early Ostfront. And the background with that thick pine forest looks nice too. I wonder what's the official status of early Ostfront at this very moment. But it shows we have a slight chance of see it in action one day.

Thanks for the info FHMax.

I think that we have a 25% chance to get the early ostfront. We even have some vehicles.

Well, IMHO, our chances are lower at this very moment. Maybe in a far patch in the future. In fact, we have some German vehicles used on Mount Olympus that could be used directly in Ostfront, and others that would be ready after reskinning. But the Soviets would need much more than the BT-7. And, of course, soldier models and maps.

But yes, I'm a dreamer too. I imagine how nice would be to have a couple of winter maps, like Operation Typhoon, Demiansk Pocket and Operation Uranus. Devs can avoid some specific statics we don't have and we should see some trench sweeping work and infantry-tanks cooperation. Cool, huh?

Remember, the Finns also used BF-109s.  ;)

Indeed, the G-2 and G-6 types. And these machines are much closer to reality to be used in Tali-Ihantala and in general scenarios in the 1944 Soviet Offensive. Also the FW 190 and Ju 87D's from Detachment Kuhlmey, a German unit used to bolster Finnish aerial operations during the crucial days. Just food for thoughts.

I think using the original Morane (as depicted in the photos) as a Morko would be just a license stop-gap. The engine was changed to a Klimov (improving somewhat the performance) but, more important, the weapons were updated to 4 MG's in the wings and a German MG151/20 motorkanone (the Soviet UBS were used too), improving firepower and reliability.

The original Moranes, even outdated, were used, in decreasing numbers, until the end of the war. So, they can be used as they are. I feel very fortunate that devs are prioritizing historical accuracy, but without ruining gameplay.

Wow, I mean, wow!!!

These are really beautiful models. Congrats to the devs involved. Now, that Morane is just sweet. The model and skin standards are top notch. Remember the last titles from IL-2 franchise.

The plane was in general outdated by the time it entered service in the Finnish Air Force, but, as usual, Finnish pilots were able to squeeze any advantage the type could afford. Thinking about it, I wonder if Finnish aircraft would be implemented one day, we could see a shiny and wonderful Brewster B-239. Just daydreaming here...  :)

Hey, always learning someting new. Never heard of that PPD-34 before. That thing looks like a FrankenSMG. Shares something with a MP-18, a Beretta 38 and a Reising. Super cool. About the reliability, can't say too much. Time to do a little research.

And thanks Flippy for the insight on the Suomi. Very much appreciated.

Now, FHMax, if you allow me, you are the official gravedigger in the community. I mean, you are really digging old and obscure stuff in this tread. Hope you don't mind the comment.

Suggestions / Re: KV-1
« on: 20-01-2017, 17:01:07 »
Well, at first look, could be a good idea, but I agree with Matthew about the lack of maps to put them on.

By now, the Eastern Front maps are all about laaaate war, so the KV-1s does the job. Even the new maps coming with 2.52, the earliest map is probably in 1943, when those beasts were dwindling in numbers.

About the KV-2, the scenario is even worse, cause it was used only in 1941, and mainly on the Baltic States and Leningrad, which will not be depicted, at least in the near future.

So, IMHO, right now, it would be a waste of efforts. If we need some new types, you could think about 3 big players in the late Eastern Front: SU-85, ISU-122 and ISU-152.

Best regards.
