EPIC stuff Chad! If I might make a suggestion, you may consider slightly increasing the time it takes to get another magazine before inserting it into the gun. It seems a tad fast to me, in comparison to other SMGs in FH2. But of course, it's WIP so no matter.

Excellent work! Now I wanna see some Nagant revolver action ... :D

Gentlemen, we once had months without a news update......
Indeed... those were hard times.

I just uploaded this video today of a battle I fought a couple weeks ago against the Ottmans, as Russia. It's from a campaign I'm playing using Darthmod's 40 unit saves option, which essentially doubles the already huge troop numbers in battles. There are about 22-24,000 troops on-map at the same time in this video. Enjoy!

Is there a way to embed YouTube vids on this forum??

General Discussion / Re: FH2.45 Feedback
« on: 16-07-2012, 01:07:20 »
Sibi is a map i highly dislike. The allies need some serious firepower here because atm its impossible to kill the tiger tank. The map is to narrow wich allows no flanking after sibi is captured. The flak 88 defenses at the flag near allied mainbase are way to powerfull aswel
I like the map from what little I've played of it, but I agree on the fixed 88s outside of the flags -- they are too powerful. I remember the Americans got pushed back to the point where they only had their uncap left, and I was getting sniped literally IN spawn with 88s at the other capzones. It was literally spawn camping ... so that at the very least needs to be fixed.

One disturbing change I noticed is that a good number of Normandy and Bulge maps are losing bazookas altogether for the Americans. What gives? On all the maps in question, axis armor is massively powerful. Why did the devs take out bazookas altogether? If there were too many they could have just reduced the # of classes on those maps. Now it's going to be like we're in North Africa all over again and suicide attack tanks with little grenades. Craziness!

Taking away stamina is like taking heat mechanics away from Battletech. Before, crossing any open space was a risk/reward type of thing: do I have stamina to cross there or should I rest for a moment (and risk being hit by incoming fire in the meanwhile)? Now there is no reason NOT to run errywhere.

Also, regarding the forceful removal of Aberdeen, light the torches and sharpen those pitchforks! It's still better than Supercharge or Siege of Tobruk, for example. Someone, anyone, back up that map and put it up for download, so it can be added to server rotation >:(

Ducking on Lafettes and tweaking of ragdolls sound good though.
Uh yeah, I honestly can't believe that sprint stamina and jump stamina has been taken out. What's to prevent people from bunny hopping? Also, I never thought stamina drain was an issue ... it added tactical depth to crossing expanses of open terrain. Now that's completely gone ... someone care to explain this baffling decision??

Also, I've noticed an alarming number of maps losing bazookas as anti tank weapons, especially in Normandy and Battle of the Bulge. What gives? Axis armor is very powerful on these maps, and you're taking away bazookas?? I don't understand these changes in the least bit.

On the whole I'm looking forward to the release, but these big unnecessary gameplay changes have certainly put a dent in my excitement...

*head explodes*

Holy shit this is a nice surprise! I'm so pumped...

I'm a tad disappointed there's only one Tunisian American map, given that so much work has been done on new skins and stuff for the NA theater, but it's way better than nothing!

Wow this is big news. I'm sad to hear that you're leaving after so many years of work, but all good things come to an end.

I hope that the FH2 team is able to find an able replacement, and I hope you perhaps help them with that if possible. As you said, the team is getting smaller and yet they have so much content yet to complete on this epic project! Now is as good of a time as ever for all of us to call out and try to get talent interested in working on this mod.

I for one am dying to see the Eastern Front, but it won't be possible without talented and dedicated bodies like yourself on the team.

Wow this is really pathetic! Sorry to hear this devs, but you know your community will do everything in its power to make sure this game burns in the fires of justice!

Ugh it really makes me angry, and I didn't make one damn thing in the game! I can't even imagine how you guys feel.

So now we have to guess whether a plausible April Fool's is indeed April Fool's?

At least the previous jokes have been implausible enough to be funny.
Agreed ... this could very well be a real update. The worst thing is that if it's fake, it's not funny and it will piss of everyone who thought it was real ....

General Discussion / Re: FH2 music production question
« on: 01-03-2012, 02:03:55 »
I think the issue I have with the music is, although its nice to hear period music ingame. I think as loadscreen music, I really can't relate.

We are NOT from 1940, no matter how much geeky time we spend around WWII stuff. Few people can relate to those songs. Now if it were say, to play ingame, and we actually had themes that give a mood for the kind of battle, I think that might actually make more sense, imo.

Songs like that for Crete and Sfakia to me make more sense. 'Over the rainbow' actually DOES work, less because its from that time, but because it isnt'. We can relate, because its been played in other contexts of bliss that really represent outer-bodily sadness.

Say an accordion piece for hard major losses, the sound of subtle symbal and drumbeat, tank threads and to what sounds like a 'Desert people' drum song. Those, IMO, work better.

The sound for Brest, imo, also works because of the desperate struggle nature of the battle. Had the battle of St. Lo had more of that gameplay, I'd actually say, that same theme would go there too.
Lulz well if it's any consolation, I'm not writing music for FH2. This is simply a project that started in that direction. Second, there is nothing "period" about the music I've written ... composers of film today continue to write in a semi post-Romantic style and no one blinks an eye.

I use Finale 2011 ... I don't have any custom MIDI packs or anything. My piece will luckily eventually be played by a live ensemble so at least I don't have to tolerate these sounds for too long haha.

Off-Topic / FH2 Music Update
« on: 29-02-2012, 06:02:18 »
(this is the same post as the one in the bumped thread in General Discussion)

If any of you still remember, I talked a while back about writing a piece for FH2. Since that time I've actually begun work on said piece, but for a gentleman and his church brass choir in South Carolina. Given that the piece is based off of that brief trumpet solo that I posted a loooooong time ago in this thread, I decided to update you all on where I'm at.

Here is the piece I've been working on. It's super WIP, and is only a small portion of what is to come. I've only been working on it for probably around 10 hours total.

Though it might sound final, the end isn't the end of the piece, but a transition to the next section which I'm working on. I just thought I'd update you all on my progress. Also forgive the horrid sound of MIDI. At this stage, it's what I have to work with!

General Discussion / *BUMP* An update on my piece

I figured I'd give this old thread a BUMP since I've actually recently begun work on my long-shelved project of writing a piece as a tribute to fighting men and women.

Anyone knows a good mod for Napoleon where you can fight with other nations like Spain, Holland or Sweden.
Done playing with the coalition forces or The Peninsular Campaign :)
You can play as any nation that you want in Darthmod. Darthmod is much more focused on realistic/more atmospheric combat, though, so if you're mainly caring about campaign map stuff then you might look elsewhere.

I think Darthmod is great from the realism side except for the fact that most of the units use fire-by-rank which I don't think was very common in Napoleonic fighting. I'm hoping many of us convince Darth to change it to 2-rank fire, which would be more accurate.
