Early Western Front should also be about the Belgians, Dutch, Danish, Norwegians, did I forgot any? It's all on the Western side.

I voted for the early western front. We have already had a lot of late theaters in both FH games, and I would like see some expansions on the early western front

Voted Pacific Major. The irony is that I'm not really that fascinated with the pacific. I just think it would keep things interesting to have such a different front.

I am a bit scared about how they will implement the pacific theatre, mainly because I have not seen any moving carrier or navy ship in the original game, project reality etc. Only small boats, and battleships are things that are really important I think.

I voted for western front continuation(bulge, market garden, etc). Mainly because at this point(and even more so after the upcoming normandy patch) they should pretty much have everything they need in terms of player models, weapons, weapon animations, kits, vehicles, and a lot of statics they could re-use to continue the late western front war, and therefore they should be able to do such a release far more quickly than a whole new front. Which is why I don't really look at that as a new front but a continuation of their latest release. For a whole front, I want to see the major russian front battles more than anything after late western front gets wrapped up. But that will probably take quite a while which is why an easier to do finished western front will give us players a lot to do while waiting  ;D

Well there is "what would you personally like most" way to vote and a "I believe this would be most effective, realistic scenario with a good chanche of attracting more players".

Early eastern and early western could both be a lot of fun. I'd enjoy it a lot. But to attract more players I guess late war scenarios like the eastern front would attract more  people, as would late war pacific.

and then we'd also have to consider what would be the most effective front from a technical point of few (which probablky will leave the pacific out for sure).

Voted Minor Pacific

I want some owen gunz!

I also put China into this catagory (although a major front in scale, its minor in the public eye).  It would also demand the inclusion of the C96!

I would love to see pacific, but the best thing to do is make western front first (Market Garden and Rhin battle because we know about bulge). And then make an other big front. (My first interest will be the pacific, but anyway...)

Unless you're mentioning this as a joke, what would be the point? Americans, spawn on ships or land and die? Maybe throw in one fighter if you're feeling generous.

Minor Eastern Front, with Major narrowly losing.

Though the inclusion of Western Front continuation as a voting choice seems a bit awkward, we "know" that it will be the next one (simple logic, plus Taranov's comments at the other site) so the question should be perhaps "what should come after Late Western Front". ;)

Schneider, Josh094's idea is probably that the poll results stay hidden until the voting closes -- one month from now. Start biting your nails, now!

Indeed, sometimes people don't see the fact that in a game you can always turn the tide of the battle.

Plus I think it would be a really cool map but i'll save that for tommorow when I might actually get to play FH2 for the first time  ;D

Voted Minor Pacific...AUSSIE, AUSSIE, AUSSIE!!! (after all, you gotta be patriotic! :))

Although I won't hold my breath. I can't see a minor front being done before a major one. E.g: Minor Pacific would come after Major Pacific.

My second choice would be Major Eastern...

Well, I said it already once:

Would like to see operation market garden with greened-out paratroopers, Britsh paras, Arnheim, Neunen or such battles that were part of Operation Market garden

But more than that, I'd like to see the Bulge and all its trappings :-D

Greater detail?

1/ Paradrop for American and British
2/ Armored column facing German defenses and infantry hiding off the edge of hell's highway armed with panzerfausts and lying in ambush
3/ Arnheim!!! and SS panzer group with all their bells and whistles
4/ Battles along the way
5/ Caen, Cherborg, etc, etc - Basically, Normandy Town battles
6/ Operation Cobra
7/ Omaha!!

The Bulge
Destructible trees
ankle-deep snow
foxholes, the quad-50 cal mounted halftruck
SS tank groups against americna infantry
Bastogne, Foy!!!

thick fog, low line of sight, falling snow, and banshee-like gusts and ambience...

we have the desert heat, best captured in Gazala... now lets have the co--OOld!!!

Ost Front, Bulge, Op MG, Italy, extension of Normandy I don't care, just no Pacific theatre just yet, Pacific would require another long wait for development, I'd rather not wait another 2 years for a few more maps in a new theatre just to please the yanks.

I understand that, it's just most of the battles in FH are actually 2 sided battles. All I'm saying is you will have to change history a fair amount to make it balanced. It doesn't bother me if it's done, it just seems like a really awkward choice for a battle.

I voted for Major Pacific because I've always wanted to see it in FH2! Although I've almost come in terms with the reality that we might never see Pacific BUT I still believe its possible that devs decide to make it happen. Can't wait to see how awesome it looks. FH2 Normandy maps showed that BF2 is capable of having quite awesome looking vegetation. :)

I would prefer to see expansion into the Pacific, jungle fights would be amazing in FH2!
In terms of new content it seems that Eastern Europe and the Pacific would both be a lot of work since we would be starting from scratch for either the Soviets or Japanese.  I think the Pacific would add the most variety and that is what is what most appeals to me.

Obviously voted for the Major East. I was never able to play FH1 and BGF didn't last too long (sigh...).

Speaking about Pearl Harbour:
1) Put a dummy flag on one of the japs carriers with ~1 min cap time
2) When it is captured, spawn more AA defences for the yanks
3) The map is objective-based (i.e. destroy all 6 battleships)

The map would be similar to Crete, just more intense. All in all, another "Scud Attack".

Voted for minor pacific, its what I would like to see the most, or early war battles france/poland.

With that said, I would rather the work is carried on with what we have now though as I understand its a bit silly to go for another when there is still loads to do for the current ones. The variety in FH1 is what made me fall in love with it, fighting in north Afrika for one second then the next to stalingrad!

Yeah, objective would be the way to go.  I also thought defending the second wave might work well too.

I've been thinking about the Hürtgenwald lately.  Nice infantry meatgrinder map with lots of artillery and Lafettes.  Bunkers, trenches, fog...

Not really, in fact Pearl Harbor could be done with a gameplay very simmilar to the old BF42/FH1 Battle of Britain, just with less focus in allied planes and more in their AA forces: AA in the ships and airfields, mg's in ships and ground, etc.

About the surprise attack thing is also null and void, there was a second wave, in fact it would be way more eyecandy with the sunken ships, smoke and all.

The only problem of this map is the insane work to make it good

Sorry but when I think of Pearl Harbor I would have to agree with Lobo on the eye candy and work amount being insane and whatnot.   I have to say though that it would be amazing on both sides to play!  Japs, causing chaos in zeroes and flying through the smoke and explosions.

Americans manning AA, tracers flying through the air while SBD's and F4F Wildcats are taking off.   I would just love that map.

(Don't forget Japanese mini-subs!)

2) bulge
3) pacific

why pacific? because it's a challange, and I like challanges.  :)

No Wildcats, no SBDs, only 2 Kittyhawks got airbourne IIRC.  The Americans also barely shot back from the ships, most of the ammo was under lock and key and due to the chaos, they were unable to get it.  Also the map size alone would require incredible downsizing, think 2 battleships statics, with a japanese carrier with planes.  There would be no ground combat at all, it would all be flying or manning the occasional 50cal or a couple small bofors with very limited ammo supply, meaning it would only really appeal to people who enjoy AA or flying.  Also it would be impossible to replicate surprise, as we all know it is coming.  Basically, it would be impossible to do.

Finish the Normandy area and move on to the bulge/ market Guarden.. finish the americans and germans and brits first in the west. then to east  then to Pacific then to 1945 all  areas, then to the smaller sectors such as early war which is also fun.

I prefer for the beginning of the eastern front because they jumped Operation Barbossa and opted for the Normandy campaign; while not a bad decision, jumping from the future to the past is not a good idea. I prefer tje early eastern front, then to Market Garden.

The devs didn't jump anything. They do not develop content based on the WWII timeline. Normandy was chosen for various reasons and the pros outweighed those of developing Op. Barbarossa after North Afrika. Just like the next theatre will have its development pros and cons, whether its 1939 or 1945.

Lets see about that them whatever their decision I still will follow the game. If they decide to opt for Market Garden then they will not add too much new content. Battle of the Bulge will however be very intense if they decide to go to there.

I think someone put it nicely... Pacific will be nice, novel and ALL that but it will be another Normandy... A few maps in first release for a year + in development... I think its best done in bits alongside another front for the next release candidate or much later down the line

Hey, I love napalm and banzai charges as must as the next chap... Just don't want to sit on my thumps for that long

tie between Eastern front in general or Westenrn front cont.

Western front i think i would go for... lots of stuff needed is already in someway or another.

Eastern would require lots off new stuff like Russian model/skins, T34, BT7, Statics and god knows what else

I ´m tired of eurocentrism

And i'm tired of Americancentrism everywhere, in cinerma 90% of WW2 movies talk about Americans vs xxx in Europe or Pacific, in video game 99% of them are about Americans vs xxx... Thanks to small European cinema industry we could have few WW2 movies based on forgotten front and army, and thanks to game like FH2 we can play forgotten army and battles... All MOH and COD did their own D-Day or BoB or Market Garden or Pacific games or add-on, but play as Italian in Gariabub, well none ??? So thank you FH2... Same how many video games allow us to play French in 1940 or Finland army in 44 ??? Thanks again FH teams (remember FH1).

Seriously Pacific is already seen and reseen...  Or do forgotten Pacific fronts like China or South Asia...

Hans Werner, it's called marketing. If you have to invest 10 milion dollars in a game, would you invest in Italians playing Giraburb? What does sell more, Normandy with Panthers and Americans or Chinese against Japs? You can be an expcetion, but they need to sell milions of copies.

Same happens with CoD: Modern Warfare 2, back to modern combat because that sells much more. 5 million copies sold today, only.. Or you become an independent development group which focus their effors on a specific niche, or your game is so revolutionary that you end up selling more than expected (like Roller Coaster Tycoon or Commandos)

I remember a dev saying about the eastern front, it will take the same time to integrate it in the mod then it take for the normandy and the NA. Eastern is a bad idea for now. Continuing western front it's the best for the mod, after I will prefer to see another big front (Pacific in my case).

Same, never liked COD after COD2. So like it began a cool game that got good multiplayer action turned into 12yr players whining, bringing more immaturity for the game. Thank god I dont play that game or even have an interest in COD MW2...will get Bad Company 2, beta comes in 19 of this month.

Americans mainly make films about American actions in WW2. Big surprise, Hollywood tends to make films that sell best to its primary audience. I don't see many foreign films about American actions in WW2, which is fine.

If it makes you feel any better, the vast majority of American WW2 films are utter rubbish.

On a more related note, FH is always going to be toting a difficult line. There is a genuine desire and push to put the less documented battles it seems (well gee the name is Forgotten Hope). At the same time a large percent of the player base is interested in the more generic fights. It is always going to be give and take.

I don't get why everyone is so anti-American for WW2... You don't want to see America everything, tell YOUR government to make a war movie or game... Why should Americans make a British or Italian story all the time.. ANd they have once or twice, mark you

And COD actually reached its Zenith AFTER COD2... COD4, I believe it was.... And it catered for all sides - AND the Brits were technically the main actors - Americans got blown away in that one... so I don't quite get that point either..

Its called, 'we are a super power and we like war becase we think we pwn everytime we fight and we want to dramatize it'... No one like war, but if you think you are damn good at it, you'd romaticize the idea... has been the case for every empire since Rome..

imagine a game or movie made by Rome were it as powerful today as it was then,,, who will be the main actors everytime?

Hell, I really like some of the lesser done campaigns. Defending Poland in FH, Finland, etc. Those were all really awesome maps/battles. Problem is you have too many people who would rather be fighting fictional battles from Saving Private Ryan. :/

We have lots of awsome (I believe most finns concur on this one) WW2 movies in Finland, for example see the old classic Unknown soldier or Tali-Ihantala 1944. The problem is that the finnish film industry is so small and badly sponsored that those movies come approximately twice in a decade and with a pretty poor budget so we don't see those massive explosions and epic huge tank battles. So we do our best but anyone who loves WW2 doesn't consider it enough in most european countries.

I saw this movie !!! And i'm French !!! But on Youtube... ::) That's what i pointing out, in fact this movie is far more historically accurate and better (Real Stug vs Real T34, it's an amazing fact for a WW2 movie) than a SPR where all the story is fictive and the Tiger is a modified T34... But the problem is that movie hasn't been commercialized all around the world just because of a lack of budget...

What people want to see in a WW2 movie ? Real and accurate battles, tanks, uniforms and story or Americans who can kill 100 enemy before dying and who can destroy a Tiger with sticky socks... (what a joke)... I'm really curious if any allied soldiers tried to destroy a Tiger only one time by this way...
At least you can see a wonderful scene in "Tali-Ihantala 1944" with Finish soldiers and Panzerfaust, an accurate and real way to try to kill enemy tanks !!!

Seriously, go also see "El Alamein - La linea del Fuoco" (Italian - 2002) or "Tobruk" (Czech - 2008) and you will see others real WW2 movies, accurates, with an high sense of realism, and not just there to make lots of $$$, in few words : real WW2 movies !!!!

A reason why American war films are the way they are is a large product of culture and simply the effects of the war. The US, outside of soldiers, came out of the war unscathed. Our cities weren't totaled and our civilian populations never decimated. WW2 comes off a lot differently than the cynical and to be fair much more accurate European films. The US is culturally dominant for the time being so our films have larger budgets and greater markets. People sometimes take this too personally, many Americans do understand more about the war. Popular film will never reflect this, it is simply designed for the lowest common denominator.

errm.... do you mind elaborating, Biivis - cuz I totally agree with Blue.

I really don't get people's issue -Its about perspective...

What is more, EVEN IN a war, other nations have had romantic views of it all in some context and this is represented in theri writings. The fact this generation is suddenly anti-war altogether doesn't mean we should anachronistically paste our impression upon the way it was percieved in the past. There are, and always have been many perspectives of war in the past, just as now... Both in America and the rest of the world

The impression that Americans are naive, overbloated and war-mongering and the rest of the world has a more realistic impression about war is a bloody lie... Their media just shows this side is all...

I mean, really... Apart from hardcore WW2 fans, most people would just like to see a movie where good triumphs over evil - Even SPR, for the average viewer was a bit harsh... Can you fault them?

Weren't Finland technically an axis country? If so, see the movies previous mentioned in this thread.

As for Germany? I think it would be politically impossible to make a movie about the axis triumph without also showing their following decline. I don't think the french would like to see axis troops parading on Champs-Elysées as the closing credits.

I don't know what exactly you mean by epic. There is something like Das Boot, which is in many ways fairly epic. For my money I think it is one of the best, if not the best WW2 film. There is also Stalingrad, which is a flawed but interesting film. I know Finland and Italy have some interesting films as well.

no, they will most likely be air and infantry-centered. if there is a naval aircraft battle, then it will most likely be a static carrier. I really want to see a japanese map where americans are defending a strongpoint in the jungle and the fog is really close and thick (even thicker than luttich) and we have to fight off banzai charges and stuff.  Also, a coral sea map with static carriers.

Pacific battle was more than ship... And the dev didn't say we can't use ship, but it will not be like refractor engine 2.

Warrior actually said something half smart ;)

But he and Alakazou are right. Most battles will be on a smaller scale with only spawnable LCVPs and perhaps a few static Fletcher destroyers will workable guns for artillery support. If there are any ships they will be static carriers, with workable AA guns, which personally I'd love to see.

And ships are already in the game. There is a German U-boat and the British Audacity carrier. Ships work and all you just can't walk on them when they move.

I don't see why large ships can't function in FH2. Sure you won't be able to walk on them, but who cares? Just have different crew positions just like in FH1. Is lag your concern?

Woah, 20 people voted for early western front including me? I guess many others think the same I do. The main reason early blizkrieg is just something i want to be included in FH2 since I think it was the heart and core of the original FH1 among a few other things. That and the fact that french had some nice colourful tanks. ;D

But to be realistic, we already have most of the statics, guns and vehicles, excluding french ones obviously.
It would really diversify the mod with less effort than paficic or eastern front.

Tell him to stop believing his lieing eyes and to flush his head down a toilet and post a photo of the act for Lobo's sadistic pleasure.

Hmm after watching Nanking! Nanking! City of Life and Death, all i want is the Chinese Theater.

Especially, the Knocked out Vickers 6 ton Mk.E Type B with the dead crew member on its top and a working Turret <3

Hello everyone,

Just to share this idea : you should make the basics bf1942 countries, weapons (including arisaka) and vehicles first, and let the community work on the rest (especialy the mapping part)... at least to begin with. That's how FH1 became great...

I would rather play a jap or a russian soldier on a bf2 map than never play any of them on FH2... Maybe it would also make the mod more attractive (this plus spectacular battlefields)... You guys are artists, but your 64 players maps need players to be filled with...

Unfortunately, the community is less reliable than during fh1.
There is some good (maps) project here but those are too rare.

Early Western front     - 39 (20.5%)

Wow, third place. I hope this one becomes reality, there are way to few games that cover this theathre of war. Especially FPS-games! the biggest problem would be getting the french army in-game with all of it's equipment and vehicles.

Cool. This is exactly what I want to see happen. Western front continuation first(since they already have most equipment and all major armies needed to finish that more quickly) and then onto major Eastern front for the next whole new front. I Just hope the dev's do it in this order  :)

Ssssh!!  We all know the web site is a front, Lightning, Lobo and Co are now just programmed reply-bots and all new weapons pictures are coming from a junior high school class in Madrid.

Early Western would be semi-easy, you've got all the statics to begin with ;)

Except you'll need France in as well as about 3 new tanks for each army.. But true... It just isn't a grabber at this point - Considering we just went through late-Western

<audience falls in complete silence>
"Did you hear what he said?"
"My God, that man probably never even saw Western European houses!"

For the Fall of France you got all statics, for the early Western front, nope. You would need French, Belgian, Dutch, Danish. Building styles are very different in every European country.

To begin with can be used in different ways, it can be a sum up by Paasky that he is implying all statics are atleast done for this or you could understand it on the way you did. One of us is wrong and made a misunderstanding.

Anyway, let's drop in London suburban houses in Africa because Great-Britain was involved there  :-*
