Title: What would YOU like to play?
Post by: Flippy Warbear on 10-02-2019, 14:02:08
Hi there!

We will try to get FHGN revived and for that, I'd like to know what maps would you like to play?

Will start light, so only 5 maps gets played. Which is why you can vote 5 times. If we manage to get a lot of players, then we will enjoy small maps with the same level of insanity that is closely associated with FHGN and depending on the turnout, it will determit if its feasible to go for 64p maps in future FHGN's.

This poll will run for a week. Next sunday (17th Feb) I will announce the map list and date for the FHGN.

What's FHGN?

Nysä already explained where the abbreviation comes from, but I'll explain a bit further since I guess thats my job as the person who started the event in the first place so many years ago.

FH Game Night is exactly what it sounds like. It is a community game where the community gets to vote for the maps we will play. The voting pool will differ for each Game Night, so people will more or less have to vote for new maps each time and this way we get to play different sort of map list each time we have a Game Night. Game Night is not exactly like your normal everyday 762 public night, because we arent afraid to descent into utter chaos by playing small versions of the maps with 64+ players. It is nice to get to play different sized versions tho, because for example some people have never played many of the 32p versions available. One of the things that separates this from your normal FH public play is that we'd like people to join us on a voice chat program, such as our own TeamSpeak3 server or Discord (now that we have that). I guess one of the things that made FHGN's special were that at least I felt they managed to bring the community more together by having fun together for a few hours once a month.

Sometimes we spice things up a bit by having a "catch" while playing FHGN's, one of which (and so far pretty much the only succesful one) was the popular Grizzly Hunt event where you had to hunt down the elusive warbear with a melee weapon and take a screenshot from it in order to win yourself a bear hunter signature to be used on these forums. In the second season of Grizzly Hunt we introduced the Park Ranger reward signature for those who were succesful in stopping those who attacked the warbear.

FHGN's were traditionally held once every month, the last one we had was in 2012. It has been on a long break and I have no idea if bringing it back is a good idea or not, but we'll try it out for at least once, see if it gets anywhere and if it sparks enough interest to do another one and so forth.

I was really torn between Arad and Oglyendoov, chose the former.
