Title: "Fun" Weapons
Post by: Chad1992 on 17-10-2012, 22:10:52
The purpose of this is for people to suggest, what im calling "fun" weapons.  These are weapons that would be "easy" to add to the mod without needing a great deal of time and effort.  I would like to see a muzzleloader (musket) and a stick of dynomite.  This would be similar to the angry farmer kit, more along the line of French resistant weapons.  The muzzleloader is the old gun thats been in the family for years and the dynomite is used to destroy german supply lines.  Please try and keep your ideas simple (as this increases the chance of it actually being added  ::)) since there are plenty of threads with crazy ideas already out there.  So start brainstorming and putting ideas out there.  :)

Well this thread is off to a great start... Nice work guys...

Resistance kit sounds like a great idea. Definitely more easter egg-ish kits would add more of an element of fun to the game. I still remember the first time I found the angry farmer kit...  :-*

So much sarcasm.....hahaha  :P

I suggested something like this a while ago, I called it "Personal Weapons." It basically was saying that quite a few soldiers back then took personal weapons like knives, pistols and maybe swords (Jack Churchill lol) to war with them. It seemed well received but I don't think it'll make it into the mod, it's too much work for too little return.

However, I will suggest one kit. A Jack Churchill kit on some D-Day map. Complete with Claymore sword, a bow and arrows, and bagpipes!

that is fireable only while sprinting + jumping

Hunting rifles in certain chateus.
n00b stick definitely.
Tiger Ace Black Tiger tank hidden somewhere with a number of Allied kills to its credit scrawed on it.
Hidden Calliope Sherman
Xpack with plunger
Coloured Smoke grenades to mark enemy tanks for airstrike etc.
Shoe mine kit and other anti-personnel mines.
Deployable Barbed wire kit.

Mostly easter Eggs, just one hidden somewhere and not respawnable.

The correct turret for early war Tiger II in Op. Goodwood.
Definiely at least one musket somewhere either in NA or in some Chateau in France.
Left-over French kits here and there.

Ah yes, a propaganda SDKFZ251 with playing propaganda from its megaphon only as a static in some field in the Bocage that can be destroyed.

Throwing knives.
Napalm-carrying airplane. Also, single spawn.

My list is endless :)

Ivory handled and with custom Patton engravings, of course!

Seriously it would be cool to see some custom kits for the "commanders". For example Monty's with custom Beret and Patton's with custom revolver (and helmet? Why not?).

Coloured Smoke grenades to mark enemy tanks for airstrike etc.

This is actually quite a good serious suggestion imo.
I know the SL can already use colored smoke grenades, but they dont really stick out much.
Making the plumes bigger shouldnt really be an option since the SL can magically make them appear anywhere on the map. So why not include colored smoke grenades in some kits?

*waits to get slammed by ww2 history buffs*

Uhm, no, SL can't use colored smoke. What you are referring to is the waypoint marker, which can only be seen by your squadmates (thus a guy in a plane won't see it and won't give you support even if he wanted to) and isn't really noticeable all that much.

Just give SL a second smoke, a red/orange one for designating the marks and that's it.

Pervitin kit, makes you run, shoot and reload 10 times faster.
Title: Re: "Fun" Weapons
Post by: djinn on 18-10-2012, 15:10:56
The current 'Attack here', 'Defend here' etc is just a game mechanic. It isn't visible to anyone outside your squad, because it goes with the attack orders for squad-level control. And its vBF2 grenades any how.

What I was referring to was actual coloured smoke like we had in Cretan Village in FH1. So you could call attention to an enemy tank by tossing smoke on it,

Set a friendly zone when calling in arty or air support by using smoke etc.

Just a small idea, let's move on to others...

Several Panzerfaust warheads went beyond 200m. Flammfaust (400m), Gasfaust (400m), Schrappnellfaust (200m), and Panzerfausts 150 and 250.

Some more fun weapons...

Holzmine 42
Hohlladungs-Springmine 4672
TM-35
FG 1250 Infrared Sights
Goliath
sIG 33
TDR-1
R-4
V-173
LPL Flying Submarine

Might be going too far with that list...

The stielgranate41 has been asked for multiple times by me, for normandy/ostfront maps, especially normandy maps with the FJ.

Also the mobile pillbox would be cool to see, though it's not really "mobile", it's more "transportable".  In-game it would be already emplaceed :P
