Remember, of the mods in top 100 and thus eligible for second vote, HL2 has 15 different mods on that list, C&C3 has 3, C&C Generals has 4 so them being ahead is not yet a reason to get all gloomy: BF2 has only FH2 & PR,, so they are more likely closer to top-10 than some HL2 mods. Though of course at the moment both FH2 & PR are losing to CoH and SW:Empire at War which only have one mod to be voted on but still have more votes.

List is currently:

1 HL2 - 10482 (30[15] mods) - 349.4 per mod 4
2 C&C3 - 2119 (10[7] mods) - 211.9 per mod 6
3 CoH:OF - 1668 (4[2] mods) - 417 per mod 3
4 SW:EaW - 1446 (2[1] mods) - 723 per mod 1
5 C&CG - 1385 (6[2] mods) - 230.8 per mod 5
6 BF2 - 1332 (2[0] mods) - 666 per mod 2

So as you can see, BF2 is second best atm.  However, since unreleased mods [in square brackets] go through the same stats system it complicates things*.  BF2 is the only game there with no unreleased mods.

*In the top 100 are half released and half unreleased.  Since they compete for different titles, that means that FH2 only has to beat 50 other mods ;D

Cold War Crisis for C&C G:ZH does not count in. CWC is one of the best out there, stressing for slight realism, historical accuracy, and cool effects that a game could reproduce from the real world. Any sissy fantasies and typical C&C campy-ness can't just match it. Fiction-realism is for pansies, and their typical Hollywood effects on objects are just plain silly, mind-corrupting and brain-damaging.

Sadly ppl voted for mods that lack in quality. I owned that game and getting desperate about any decent mod: there are hardly any, besides one or two. The 4 listed mods are not up to FH2's overwhelming superiority in quality, not even Project Reality's top notch experience.

So it can be concluded that C&C G:ZH mods are really for the quantity over quality.

A mod worthy of getting in the top is those who count for all the components that make up a good game. That means original design. game play, community, innovation and least but not least - getting people to play and like it.

you can hop on to CGtalk, DevianArt, Polycount or any of the other hundreds of digital art forums and find incredible quality, but can people use it? No, and that is why they arent great games.

Moddb winners are mods who care about the whole package, it could be that some 16year old dude designs an Unreal mod that just captures everybodys mind and heart and wins the whole thing, even if the "quality" is crap. or like Minecraft, they deserve to win because they did what no one else did.

MOTY is fair, the best mods win, and best is measured by how many people like it, nothing else.

To use a cliché "It is not about the idea, it is about the execution" people look at screenshots of mods and go "bah, what's that, I could do that", but did they? No, they didn't execute on their idea, and that is why they don't have a mod.

So you can never say "They dont deserve to win" because if they do, they do.  ;)

Not to be nitpicky but Minecraft is basically a remake of another game called Infiniminer.

It is basically my personal preference.

I do feel that both FH2 and PR lacks some degree of re-playability. While some fantasy mods are quite addicting.

The C&C mods however, most of it are recycled idea. Let's say, "let's put Tiberian Sun into General's SAGE engine!" and then goes boom! Here you go, people have it because of nostalgic emotional values in a fancier game engine. HL, Unreal, Crysis, Fallout and other FPS mods, although might lack in quality, at least I buy their idea, because it is original and creative to a certain degree.

This is like ranting classic 1920-1950s Disney cartoons are way better than the current ones, where the animation is bland and too plain. Same goes to Tom and Jerry, which degrades in quality since 1960s. Yes, indeed it has. People nowadays are easily swayed. Let's say, if there is news that Rihanna plays FH2, we would immediately rose to the top for a pointless reason. Or, if we put Glenn Beck player models in the mod, we might gain some stupid advantage from conservative player-base. I mean, it is not the content the people are really looking for, but just the trend and current affair.

C&C was a founding father in the RTS formula. I played them all, and am a veteran of the old days, and i strongly have to disagree with your post over there.

C&C was never about camping. The person wich dared to go offensive was most of the time victorious. Even on online matches in tiberian sun, where every Nod player went into bunker mode. A GDI person wich actually dared to go offensive, was surely to break any defense.

I was always a GDI player. And even defeated one of the top bunker Nod players twice in a row.

C&C was great also for its factions. Everyone was pulled towards one faction one way or another. This made competition really fun. EA however, transformed this game into the abyss. C&C3 was alright, but the factions where not so well designed. People loved GDI in C&C2 TS for the mechs, the orcas, the high tech. People loved Nod for the underground units, cyborgs, Burrowing tick tanks and artillery

C&C3 had none of those.
Ra3 was a fluke because of its over cartoonish appeal. Ra2 was a bit cartoonish, but this made it super fun and one of the best C&C's out there.
Then came C&C4. The biggest failure of all time. What was supposed to be the grand finale, turned into a extremely low budget game. Infact it wassent even budget at all. They where experimenting with a MMORPG formule, they cancelled it, quickly wrapped 2 armies around it and a shitty story and voila=C&C4 for like 50 000 dollars in budget and still gigantic sales.

It seems though that BF2 mods are still going very strong. But this is because we have 2 full conversion mods.

-i am fairly sure that if they took porn off the internet, there would only be one website left and it would be called bring back the porn "Perry cox, Scrubs.
