The Battle of Tau Ceti
« on: 20-04-2014, 23:04:14 »
A little game I've found on moddb last week.
It's a team based space-combat game where two fleets fight over sectors to gather ressources and wipe out the enemy fleet, think C&C: Renegade, but with a Homeworld-like setting.
The players use the resources the AI-controlled collectors gather from controlled sectors to buy ships or gunner seats on larger ships. The ships range from little speedy interceptors and bombers (with only one seat for the pilot) over two seated gunships and minelayer corvettes to large artillery, beam and assault frigates with three seats each (one pilot, two gunners), and then there is the huge battleship with 5 heavy plasma turrets if things get serious.
The game is currently in Alpha stage, and there are barely any players online, but even against the bots it's pretty fun and I've been playing it all the time this week. The dev is pretty active as well and listens to bug reports and suggestions, he already announced a patch for the next week.
So if you always liked Homeworld but wished to be able to actually pilot those ships... check it out:
