Hattrick.org - anyone here managing a side?
« on: 14-03-2011, 14:03:00 »
http://www78.hattrick.org/

I've had a team since 2004 (177902). Mostly struggle to get my head around the tricks and strategy.  :-\

I was stuck in a league for a few years and couldn't get promoted, so I lost interest in the game. But was promoted last season and came second in my new league on the first attempt!  ;D

Looking to get my average players age down for next season, and hoping to sign a new World Class striker if I can sell some of my old crocks in the transfer market!

Anyway if you haven't heard of it, it's free and it's a bit of fun as you tinker with your clubs daily goings on!  :)

Yes I have ;D

If you want to improve your team, you need money, and the easiest way to earn money is to have a good training. Training your players is the most important thing in this game. And it looks like your training is not perfect. So here is what you need to have a good training :
  • you need a solid coach, your coach is perfect, you can even keep a high team spirit during the whole season, thanks to his leadership
  • then you must choose a skill to train and stick to it for few seasons. You will obviously sell for example an outstanding goalkeeper higher than a poor goalkeeper.
  • recruit 17 years old players, the younger they are, the faster the trained skill will rise, and you have no young players in your team : that's a big mistake !!
  • as much assistant coaches as possible, 100% training level ; and a stamina training share between 5 and 20% (mine is 11% because I don't have a lot of old players)
  • finally a player gets some training if he has played a match during the week preceding the training update. It does matter where the player played (it must have been on a position relevant for the training type), the number of minutes does matter as well. The full training effect is granted to the player if he has absolved 90 minutes on a relevant position.
So let's say you want to have the best stikers of your league : you choose to train Scoring. You have to buy six young players (17 years old and less than 50 days), who have a good scoring skill (passable/solid if you don't have lots of money, excellent if you can afford it), and who are also not bad in passing and maybe winger. Scoring and Passing are the most useful skills for a striker. I'd suggest you to buy players with solid scoring and passable passing). They also need a speciality, Quick and Head are probably the best for strikers, Unpredictable is ok if your player has a high passing level). So now you have your six strikers, you have to make them play as forward for 90mn per week to be fully trained : you are forced to always play with 3 strikers, 343 and 253 are the best set up (there are also 433, 523 but it's harder to win a game). In few weeks they will level up, your attack will keep increasing, and two seasons later, your 17yo solid strikers would have been transformed into 19yo Worldclass strikers 8) Now you can sell several of your strikers, and with the earnt money, you can buy new young strikers and also a better goalkeeper, better defenders... that's how the training works.
Of course you can choose to train an other skill like defending (you can train up to 10 players by playing with 5 defenders per game), playmaking (but I don't recommand it, you won't earn a lot of money). Don't choose Set piece, short passes, through passes, defensive positions or wing attacks, those trainings are not fast enough or you don't earn enough money. The main training are Defending, Playmaking, Scoring, Goalkeeping and crossing.
Finally you need young players only in the trained line, I mean if you train scoring, you can play with older defender/gk/midfielder, older players are often more experienced and they are also cheaper.

If you want to win lots of game, midfield is really important, if you have the possession, you might have more chances than your foe, and if you have a good attack, you will score a lot. So you should make so that you have the best midfield in your team, midfielders are cheap to buy.

I hope it'll help you to reach the first place ^^

Hey great, this is what I need thanks Khaine!  8)

I have just bought a young GK who has 25 470 TSI (17 860 when I bought him).
I'm training Goalkeeping at the moment to get him from Magnificent to World Class.

Woah, I didn't realise it is best to stick to one training for a few seasons, I usually change it every 3 weeks!  ::)  :D

I have just made my second striker as a new coach, my old coach was rubbish!  >:(

I've gotten rid of a lot of passable/solid young players over the years because I thought their TSI was bad and not worth training!  do'h! ::)

I will definatley stick to one type of training for this season and play the youngsters in the friendlys only, I don't want to sacrifice my position in the league!

I've been playing 3 5 2 for a few seasons, so maybe I will keep the training in playmaking and see how that goes. Or change the friendly's formation to 4 3 3 so I can play more strikers?

Cheers for the tips!  :)

I'm also training two GK for one season and a half. One of them has been promoted from my youth academy at 17 yo and 0 days, he was excellent in goalkeeping and inadequate in defending, now he's 18yo and 43  days (TSI : 33 860), world class GK/inadequate def. In few weeks I expect to sell him for 4M€. I've bought the other one for 521K€ (solid GK/inadequate set piece) and now he's brilliant, 17yo and 103 days (TSI : 19 770). He's iranian and he has the perfect age to enter the iranian u20 team (I cross my fingers, I'm not sure if he'll be selected). I'll sell him too for 4M€ and then buy an older GK, I decided to change my training, I don't earn enough money. Maybe defense or Crossing, I'm still in two minds.
The only thing I'm sure is that I spent less than 600 000 € and I'll earn 8M€ in few weeks, training is definitely the best way to earn money.

About friendly games, it doesn't matter if you loose or if you win them as long as your young players are fully trained. Don't make your best players play twice a week, they might be injured after a friendly game. Keep them for the league and make the bad players play the friendlies. You can (you must) also play with a different set up in friendly in order to be able to surprise your foe. As for as I'm concerned, I can play in 442/451/352/253.

So you have to make a choice, if you want to train gk, you have to buy two young keepers (the important skills are gk, def and set piece).
If you choose scoring, you'll need six strikers (scoring/passing/winger) with good specialities (quick/head/unpredictable) and play in 343/253 or 433 (but the last one is harder since you have only three midfielders, and the possession is the most important thing in a game).
If you want to go for playmaking -> six young midfielders (playmaking, passing and defending are the important skills), and also four wingers which are trained at 50% speed and you play in 253/352/451/550.

In any case you must train as much as possible young players with good skills and specialities.
