It's official.  Maine Coon mix, 3 months old, male.  Will not have it till tomorrow, they need to do all the vaccinations and such, plus they did the microchipping.  I can't wait :3  He's very bright eyed, eager to explore, but still a bit nervous.  He did like being held, has a sweet purr, and really enjoys getting his neck rubbed. ^.=.^

Theodolphus "Theo" Palmer. He is 3 months old, and a Maine Coon mix, that I adopted from the Harbour Animal Shelter. Unfortunately, not all is roses...a day after we adopted him, he has come down with a cold, complete with fever, sneezing, and not eating. We took him to the vet today who gave us antibiotics, as well as administering a double dose of antibiotics whilst we were there, plus a subcutaneous injection of fluids. She said that it should be cleared up in a week, but that if not, it could take a much more serious turn.... :(

Didn't feel like typing out the same thing that I wrote on facebook.

Either way, I am not gonna be playing much FH for awhile, until he's better.

Oh what a beautiful cat, I love that ears & whiskers combo. Hope he gets well!
It's half naked people on boats. That's all.

Yes, they are.  Me, my bf, and my dad all thought Theodolphus was a rather regal sounding name, and very fitting for him.

And some small good news.  We found online that cat colds can be helped by giving them a humid environment, to loosen mucus in their nose, and get them eating again.  So we ran the shower hot for a few minutes, and, after not much happening cept me injecting in another syringe of water for him, he got off my lap, walked to his food bowl, and promptly devoured half the food.  He didn't have any water, so we're still worried, but this is a very good step. :)

If it breaths, eats and snors your aight. Ofcource the drinking part is sketchy but in my experience cats dont like to drink near anyone.

I suppose it has a sort of older gentleman look to it (hair coming out of everywhere).

The hair is common Maine Coon feature.

And it will get as big as a Lynx perhaps. BTW, where did you found this fella? Is it from a breeder or city pound/shelter?

Yes, and it's a feature that I love.

I got him at the pound, I've never been a fan of adopting from breeders.  I'd rather save a kitten from a rough life that could end in death, than a kitten from a breeder that will eventually find a home for sure.  My mom also adopted a kitten, Molly, who is generic domestic cat.  She is healthy but we have to be careful now that she doesn't catch this cold.  We think Theodolphus caught it whilst at the pound.

Also, he is feeling better already :)  When my dad got home, he was going to remove the drawer from above the shelf that Theo likes sleeping on in the bathroom, so that he has more headroom.  So we took Theo out, and lo and behold, he started wandering a little. He went out into the hallway, used his scratching post a bit, played with a wand toy slightly (mostly just tracked it waving around with his eyes, but did a few tiny grabs at it, much better than yesterday when he was just ignoring them).  He then wandered into my room and lied on my pile of dirty clothes.  I let him there for a bit, then decided to try and give him a few kitty treats.  He was hesitant at first, but ate all 3 that I gave him, then mewed and hopped up on my couch, where he still is. :)

We're gonna do some more syringe feeding, but also try some wet food with him later tonight.  Plus, he needs his meds at around 9:00.  So hopefully all will be well, and he'll continue to get better tomorrow.

Wow, so this guy can quickly learn how to use scratching post after a few days at new home.

I really like his fur pattern, the mackerel/tabby pattern fits Maine Coon pretty well, especially when he grow big after time. He will look badass someday, like a lynx or mountain lion perhaps.

But for me, I prefer Ragdoll or Raggamuffin which you couldn't easily found on shelters. But any cat with tuxedo coat is great for me.
