$200 for an old school pocket watch really isn't that bad, even the G-Shock which is probably the most well known/cheap/rugged watch out there costs between $50-$200. Hate pocket watches though ;D

I wear a G-Shock and those things can really take anything, water resistant up to 200 m, shock resistant, tons of functions, 10 year battery... It might not look that classy but it's the ultimate watch when it comes to ruggednes at that price point.
This sentence is intentionally left unfinished...

Am I the only person who uses his mobile phone as a watch with call and text options? I used to always wear a watch but always having a phone on me sort of made it useless to also carry a watch. Plus I never got my head around analogue clocks, still takes me 5 to 10 seconds to realize what time it is.

A wristwatch is faster and is a fashionable accessory that can complement your outfit.

Disagree on the first part, can agree on the second part. Once I go corporate, there sure will be a nice wristwatch with me.

If you'd learn to read an analog watch, it's faster than reaching into your pocket and pulling out your phone. Unless you're constantly walking around with your phone in your hand, of course.

Trust me, some people just can't learn that. I tried, gave up and got a digital watch. That was one fine watch. And 2 milliseconds are not a reason to also get a watch.

Wristwatch was really handy in the army. But before and after that; phone.

Having a Nokia was really useful in the military.

...It still works ;)

Agreed.

Finally retired my old Nokia last year when I got a smart phone. But I do still take it with me as a backup phone when I go travelling, I don't trust my cheap chinese ZTE to work forever.
It's half naked people on boats. That's all.
Here in Finland we call that "summer".
