To all: it might be wise to stay well clear of Mechelen for the following months.

The city sent us a letter this week, basically an evacuation order, of which the first paragraph sounded like this:

Quote
Dear Madam, Sir
In the light of the station renovation project, "Mechelen in beweging", the city of Mechelen has identified the risks accompanying the large infrastructure works. These include the possible damaging of gas mains or unearthing war materiel.

That 'war materiel' are unexploded bombs. So what they are telling us, is when they stumble on a bomb, and it goes off, it can cause the gas mains to blow up as well, causing an even bigger blast than Gellingen.

And here's the fun bit: that's less than a kilometre away from my doorstep.

I heard there were 7 bombs still unaccounted for. And I don't think they're smaller than 500 pounders, more like 1000 lbs.

Weirdest Wikipedia trip ever:

From browsing articles related to Spiritual Narcissism, Tibetan Buddhism, into Call of Duty series, Ultranationalists, then ended up with Orcas, whales, and other Cetaceans, and finally Felony, Battery (crime), and Norway. All just by clicking interesting linked words/terms.

So, I need some advice. I still have 2 gift cards from Free Record Shop left over from Christmas and I don't know what to spend them on. There are the obvious CD's I could buy OR I could go for Medieval II Total War or Shogun 2 Fall of the Samurai.

Help?

Anyone?

Sounds legit.

I fucked up one of my exams, means I need to retry and learn when I was hoping to finally have some free time. Anyway, others fucked up a lot more exams than me and I should not be too disappointed as 60% did not make it in this one. That prof of course made a new exam after taking the same for the last 4 years, where magically more and more people passed after the second year and of course ours is twice as hard now ::) I can of course retry (4 chances to pass in total) and I'm confident that I'm gonna make it, it's just that I'm fucking sick of learning after a very hard first term.

They didn't have those, nor did they have AC/DC, or any of the titles I mentioned above. So it became the first season of Rome.

Indeed it was. ;D

And now for something more serious: I am unable to continue to study history due to shitty scores. :'( And since the rules of higher education in Flanders can be as clear as driving through 50 mil-spec smoke grenades, I'm not going to start something else again until september.

Imagine this... some crazy old Soviets plotting to march into the Kremlin with crossbows and trying to overthrow the government. Shame it never really got far but there is always next year or so.
