« on: 14-04-2009, 22:04:26 »
Will the m1 garand do that loud ping when it ejects the clip on the last shot?

I must admit, from reenacting experience, the ping is very useful as a german....  I can't count the number of times I've gotten into better positions by just waiting for that lovely ping sound.

Then you realize he had a lad with him who charged you with his bayonet.

Hey Mudra, do you use rubber bayonets in your reenactments so that you can actaully charge each other, or do you actually use real metal and try not to cause mortal wounds?

And yes, i would certainly hope that one of the most prominent characteristics of the M1 Garand would be included. ;)

I find that I'm starting to miss those babies.

So do I. But from the Axis point of view ;D.

It would give me the edge I miss in 2.15. But I already said I suck at that in my own thread  :P

We don't use bayonet, period.  Too dangerous, if someone has a blank in their rifle, and it goes off or something, it could cause serious injury.

We do, however, use the rifles as clubs and such, as well as rubber knives, and for WW1, rubber trench clubs.

I hope there is a way to fake a ping. I heard that some GI's would throw an empty clip on the ground to make a 'ping,' and then shoot the Nazi scum when he came up to take his last shot, assuming the Valiant Spreader of Freedom and Liberty had expended his last bullet.

Everything I've heard from vets I've spoken to states that that is a myth =/  Not one vet I've met had ever even heard of doing that.

I'm sure there were a few isolated cases where something like that happened. People are bound to get creative when their lives are on the line. Personally, if the kraut was close enough to hear my clip eject, you can be sure Id have my trusty .45 ready when he jumps out to...shit only officers get that.

Sometimes historical accuracy is a bitch.

Wait, are they limiting kits with Colt .45s to SLs?! Oh Noes! Damn you, historical accuracy!

You would have to look quite long in Normandy to find a place where an empty clip would make a loud "ping" when hitting the floor. May work in street combat, if at all.

the pling sounds  is played when the clip is ejected, not when it hits the ground
