Linux Server Setup BF2CC and Mono

Has anyone here recently set up a Linux server with BF2CC and mono (required to run .NET exe files in linux)?

I have set up a Ubuntu 12.04 server but cannot get the required (old) version of mono to install.
Trying to install mono 1.1.10 using .bin file gives me the error: mono segmentation fault

maybe try compiling from source.. its rather easy and then it should use the existing libraries correctly
