FH on wikipedia
« on: 01-06-2010, 12:06:00 »
When replying to a thread just now I was curious about when FH first came into existence exactly. I went to wikipedia (sorry, probably would've found it on the FH homepage, but I'm a creature of habit) and I was surprised to see FH doesn't have it's own article. Is that some legal issue, or is it just a matter of "no one got around to it"?

Apologies if this topic is in the wrong category, but I thought "suggestions" would cover it. ;)
FH2 is the game, DarklyDreamingDexter is the name.

Apparently, FH is not notable enough to have an article.  I believe something about it needing to be published in a physical medium (i.e. a magazine or something) or else they'll just delete it.

For more info, check this thread.  Oddly enough, almost exactly one year since this topic's been brought up...

Haha, what bullshit, an online site asking for "physical" confirmation, how New Media! :s

But they apparently made sure the link between wikipedia and Forgotten hope is completely severed: I thought I remembered something about this from a while back so I did a search on this forum, but it came up empty.

I believe the culprit was Goatopia :P

But I won't devulge any more info on that, I just know some people here still might remember Goatopia.
It's half naked people on boats. That's all.
Here in Finland we call that "summer".

It does not need to be a physical medium, but an external source nevertheless, preferably one that is well-known and reputable enough to qualify as a source. For example, if a major gaming website, preferably several, would write a piece on FH2, then it would be quite OK by Wikipedia's policy to create a page. In the absence of such articles and references to them, however, any FH2 page is self-promotion (banned) or original research (banned). Lately, they have also taken the stance that the pages should be of "general interest", which is IMHO quite artificial limitation and almost sounds like a weasel word by itself. ("Some would argue, that this page is not of general interest.")

Finnish wikipedia has it's own FH and FH2 articles (I wrote the latter and rewrote FH  ;D), but we really need good english fh article.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_en_Bessin

We're mentioned there :P

Also, I think the not being "notable" enough reason was bullshit. The article someone added on Wikipedia about FH2 wasn't written to Wiki standards. Get someone with knowledge on Wikipedia standards to write the article and I'm sure it'll be accepted.

Nah. For those wiki nerds it is barely ever to the standard's.
-i am fairly sure that if they took porn off the internet, there would only be one website left and it would be called bring back the porn "Perry cox, Scrubs.

Every tank 'featured in FH2', every battle 'featured in FH2'. Muahaha

It does that on extreme angles (well on BF2 engine it's very bad but it is there). Go and check it, it's even on vBF2. Otherwise you would not even be able to do the 1 shot 1 kill tank shot trick on vbf2. But I have to agree that it would better to be "more realistic than vBF2" than "realistic". No game is fully realistic.

Dutch wikipedia
Finish wikipedia
Swedish wikipedia
