MGs: Deployed vs. Undeployed
« on: 25-05-2010, 01:05:48 »
So, Ive noticed that with some MGs (such as the BAR and the Bren) have a standard mode and a deployed mode. After reading up on this and watching the video on the youtube channel, I understand that standeard mode is for firing on the move and the deployed mode is for greater accuracy while defending while prone. BUT can you achieve the same accuracy when your prone in deployed mode as when you are prone in regular mode? And can you achieve the same accuracy standing up in regular mode as when you are standing up in the deployed mode (because you can do this with some machine guns). Realy, this is unimportant, but out of curiocity I have tried testing is myself (but its kinda hard to tell while looking down the sites).

deployed mode in prone position -> best accuracy possible -> cone of fire is small and the gun (almost) doesn't kick at all

In betatests we had the crossairs visible so when you were running'n'gunning with deployed mode you couldn't hit a thing becouse cone of fire was all over the screen. Putting sights helps a bit but not as good as in undeployed mode (standing or crouching).

Long story short. First question: yes, if you can keep your jumping sights on the target. Second question: probably yes but you'll have to wait until the cone of fire shrinks.

so basically...

-While standing you'll be more accurate in undeployed and deployed mode doesnt help much at all.
-Prone in undeployed mode will help accuracy but prone in deployed mode helps it much more.

If you're standing for a while (no sudden movements) there is not much of a difference between the modes besides that the deployed one kicks less.

Yes, exactly.

As far as I understand, the MGs are 'pixel accurate' for the undeployed mode in all stances, but have a fuck-ton of recoil.  In the deployed mode, they have low recoil, but are only accurate in the prone position.  I don't think holding still while crouched or standing decreases the deviation (as an aside, it would make more sense to me if the deployed mode was only useable while prone just like the MG34).

it does help deveation a litte, because with guns with crosshairs, you can see that when you move, the crosshairs get bigger, and when you stand still, they slowly get smaller (this happens with mgs too, just no crosshairs to see it). And yes, I agree with you, you should only be able to use deployed mode while prone (since thats when its supposed to be used, anyway)

Either you said it in this thread and I somehow missed it, or you didn't.

But:

What is the advantage in using undeployed mode really? it gives you better accuracy while on the move or what?
I see were you are trying to reach: "how can a 17 year old kid have such a thinking like this? why doesnt he wants to be like normal teens who whana get rich? and his plan actually makes sense, but is too damn revolutionary and good at the same time than is still doubthfull if it works..." - Damaso

Personally, i rather see those sights removed of the deployed BAR. Really, they serve no purpose at all, and just abstruct the sight, and i highly doubt they where used alot
-i am fairly sure that if they took porn off the internet, there would only be one website left and it would be called bring back the porn "Perry cox, Scrubs.

When you move you can see your crossair getting bigger and smaller after you stop moving. With undeployed mode your 'invisible' crossair shrinks faster than in deployed mode which is crucial for fast accuracy shooting.

I had difficulties when multiple targets came across with that deployed sight.

I find there is none, in undeployed mode the gun is less accurate prone, and equaly accurate standing up as in deployed, except there is more kick and recoil. I personaly just leave the gun in deployed all the time, since its more accurate prone and has less kick. The only  thing close to an advantage is, like Kubador said, in undeployed mode there are crosshairs for quick shooting.

Slightly off-topic, but still regarding accuracy:

If you run 'till your tounge caresses your boots, does that affect your general accuracy in FH2? Always wondered about that. It seems like it doesent to me, but... I don't know. There might be marginal differences?

For most weapons you have to "rest" for a short while, usually a few seconds only. After those few seconds, your aim will be pinpoint accurate again. I believe pistols are excepted here. AT weapons need a longer "rest" than rifles, which need a longer "rest" than SMGs.

It does have sense but back to the topic!
Are the sights on the BAR going to be removed? It's really annoying! I can't hit a thing with those sights!
