Removing the 2nd explosion effect
« on: 13-07-2010, 18:07:25 »
A small one

I notice that some vehicles, specifically static guns, at least those in SP, explosive barrels and a few other things, don't blow up a second time... Is it possible for every vehicle that gets destroyed to NOT blow up a second time but just dissapear?

It makes it unsafe using them for cover when you don't know when they will go off.. Sure, they no longer damage vehicles close to them, but they still kill people.. plus the effect is just... urm, non-immersive

oh, just a slight aside, aren't petrol bomb explosions a la BGF at least realistic for trucks? cuz the current one is a bit iffy

If all wrecks are staying around until someone blows them up, the mapload will be critical. Nobody, repeat: noboy is going to use his explosives to blow something up which is already out of combat. Waste of time and resources or no tactical win. So, all wrecks stay on the map, making the performance suffer when the round develops. Not a good idea.

BUT

No danger of random damage/death of the poor soldier hiding near them
No Huge explosions of an already exploded tank
New Hiding places for Infantry without the fear of suddedly being left without cover just as they leave their former cover
Now battlefield will be more difficult for smaller vehicles to move and if many tanks run and die in the same position the whole area is useless for tankers.

I thought someone would have mentioned that little thing called .. urm, lag?!

I just want the vehicles to dissapear, not explode....and maybe have a better explosion for trucks.

Eehm, I did, just didn't use the word lag. I meant the same when I described the performance of the map.

It'd be nice if the explosion would not hurt people, but then again, when you are hiding in a burning carwreck, then don't complain when it is gonna explode on your ass.

But it has already exploded...So how can it explode a second time in a few minutes...It looks silly

When I mentioned the wreck being destroyed by explosives, that also included tank rounds.

Yes, it does. But when it "just disappears" it will look silly too.

Argument still stands. Nobody is gonna waste time and ammo on shooting/destroying something which is already out of combat. Better concengtrate on enemies who can still hurt you.

Look, I understand this question, but like it is now is the least evil of them all.

I think 2nd explosions look more daft... and they kill! You need to clear the battlefield some way, true... But another explosion? Which can kill? For me, I'm amazed, if there is an alternative, that its been in this long

what if when the vehical fell apart in the first explosion? Then those pieces would dissapear after about one or two minutes.

They do already... but they do so by blowing up a second time
