Only thing bad about it: Should've been created by KONE... *grumble* :P
It's half naked people on boats. That's all.
Here in Finland we call that "summer".

At least it isn't a Schindler's Lift.  Least reliable lifts known to man.

In one of our work buildings we have something like that, a continues lift. 1 lift shaft only goes up, other shaft only goes down. No doors or anything like that. Has been working just fine for ages. Lift also does not stop but keeps going all the time.

The one you're talking about is a paternoster lift:

the version from the video uses magnetic levitation:

Have any must have PC games come out this year?  My parents asked me what I wanted for Xmas but I can't think of anything.

I need express my thoughts somehow, thus I'm posting.

I just burned my engine in the car. It was short on oil a couple of weeks ago, and I filled some oil in, but not that much. Now I had that annual christmas family meeting today, and of course I got up late after only a couple of hours sleep. Accordingly I didn't check the oil like I had planned but kicked the car across the Autobahn at 180Km/h. I was almost at my destination when the shit hit the fan: loud knocking, most likely caused by a bearing failure, somewhere inside the engine.

Called the towing service, brought it to the next dealer where the car is waiting until monday. Took me 4 hours to return home by train. I didn't even have a coat despite winter temperatures.

Most likely the engine is totally broken, at best it will be a few thousand €uros for the repair. Point is, I only have a couple of thousand €uros at best, either for the repair or a new car, and after that I'll be totally broke, despite feeling totally broke anyway already before.

Without knowing the exact amount of damage, I already tend to let them do the repairs. The car got a full service history because I already knew I couldn't afford repairs of any major damage. If I only (can) spend like 2k or 3k on a new used car, I could buy a subscription for the repair shop right away as well. Cars for 3k are just utterly crap and no gain at all.

And after all, there is nobody to blame but me. If I would have gotten up earlier (somehow, but how?), or if I would have checked the oil instead, or if I would not have driven at full throttle, if, if, if...

...then everything would be fine.

We all fuck up sometimes.

Anyway, depending on what that car is, swapping a new engine in should be much cheaper than fixing the engine (and probably a decent option all things considered).
Also, I don't know how things work in Germany , but I'm pretty sure you can get an excellent (well, depends on your definition of excellent) car for 2-3k euros.

If you need a replacement engine but not necessarily new (ie. about the same age as your car), I'd check the... whatever the place is called locally, but the idea is that the insurance companies buy crashed cars they deem worthless to repair from the owners (and paying a lump sum as a compensation), and then sell them for either parts or repair projects - you could snatch a suitable engine from that kind of place. Either that, or individual wrecking yards/chop shops/etc. that also deal in totalled cars whose engine is still salvageable (either buying the vehicle from the guilty party who is not getting any insurance compensation either way, or even buying the wrecks from insurance companies themselves).
