Of course. The engine can do pretty much whatever you want and then some, doesn't mean traction wars will do that though  ;)

well I handed out fh2 flyers all weekend at walmart so hopefully US numbers will sky rocket now.

Yes, I completely agree with you, Dago.

To be honest I am not really 'into' this whole idea of cramming so many people onto a server, I refuse to play with that many people, its a suck experience for me.

When the developers announced the working 'official' implementation of larger server numbers, I must admit I somewhat rolled my eyes and wondered why more effort is not being put into what we have. The fanbase isn't exactly growing at a rapid rate. Perhaps I'm wrong but I think the only thing this larger server space is going to do is create a larger wasteland inhabited by few more then 30 people. I guess its good for tournaments, though?

Just my opinion :) However I really would like to see some smaller maps/versions of maps with what we are given. I've noticed 16p maps can REALLY keep a server going when a handful of people leave.

Ah I come from the depths of hell to comment on this...

...CryEngine? Prepare to face the fact that "supermarket PCs" of today (much less older systems) still can't handle something that would be much more demanding than Crysis....

But I might be wrong, those more familiar with the development Traction Wars *coughcoughcough* might have better knowledge.

Fair point but also note that computers capable of handling these new games and demanding games are becoming a lot more common. As time goes on, the more people that invest in upgrading too powerful machines, the less people will backtrack to such old games as Bf2. Personally I think that's a silly thing for gamers to do, since classics like bf2 will always be awesome. But eh, people have gaming-ADD now days :) This is obvious though. It seems technology kills technology only to reinvent itself with something better. Although I will say, I can run CE3 better then most other new release games I've *attempted* to play on my somewhat mediocre PC.

I get what you guys are saying and both of you have a point. I don't have any experience with the Cryengine, but my point is that all these world-class engines are now freely accesible and that this should thus form no limitation. (up until recent years, the only option was to mod an existing engine or write one yourself).

As for the work that's needs to be redone; this is for the devs to decided. I know that UDK comes with much middleware, including speedtree, physics, stable netcode, backward compatibility etc.
From my experience it is very easy to deploy a simple FPS multiplayer game. Most time goes into customizing the code and creating assets, animations etc.

I realize that this discussion has been mentioned before, but looking at the decreasing number of players I feel the topic is more relevant than ever. It is good to hear that the devs are at least discussing it.

The reason FH should not simply team up with other mod teams is that most mods don't work. Same goes for Traction Wars, although their approach seems professional, I have yet to see them release a first version. FH has an excellent track-record from that respect.

Speaking from a Traction Wars point of view, newer engines and fancy toys really do not make life any easier. If Fh2 is in-need of developers at this point in time, moving to any sort of engine seems awfully unrealistic for obvious reasons (although to be fair I have no clue how many developers are actually active in fh2). TW was and is primarily built up on Cryengine so we never had to worry about completely changing platforms.

Either way I support fh2 until the end of humanity!  8)

Reasons why not so many people play this game:
- lack of choice of servers - 1 server where admins abuse their power and 2nd without any rules or maybe with rules which don't concern some players (some players can do what they want)
- lack of teamplay - seems like there are many COD players....
- cheaters

I think that what you said above is also important but it won't help with increasing number of new players if these points which I mentioned exists.... Sad, but true....

In my many years of playing I havn't seen to many cheaters :P Occasionally I come accross someone in a game who likes to TK, but thats about it.

But you missed a point - the main reason fh2 will not increase to much in numbers is because its on such an old game, and unfortunately to many people now days are caught up with 'new and exciting' games like COD >.<

For servers its whatever to me, I only play on WOLF or WaW hehe

What's there left to vote for? Nude mods for Fallout/Dragon Age/Elder Scrolls series?
Traction Wars! :D
Aren't you technically now in the "indie game" series instead of mods, since you abandoned Crysis Wars and are making a standalone game on CryEngine3 Play4Free?

We are indie standalone game, meaning totally different awards competition (and it would be in the Unreleased indie game category or such) :P

Anyway I just vote for fh2, since I don't play any other mods now days.

Unlockable content attracts players, and keeps players coming back. Which equals a very nice player base. Gives players more to work for, and very commonly gives the sense of reward. Look at so many games now that do this. This may not be you, but its the truth for millions of gamers, it really is a method to the magic.

Unlockable content...face it, its the trend of the times  :)
