Hello hello hello..

The (un)official community mapping project that went live a couple of months ago is sticking around.
This is taking a toe on the server population of mod/game.
I do believe that the quality of Forgotten Hope 2's official content is state of the art.
However, the community mapping release is dividing the playerbase on a daily basis, (im not talking about the tournaments played on the weekends, which i love btw.).

I do think this harms our game by having 30 players playing the stock maps and 19 people playing the CMP-maps. We do not need a mod in our mod.

The content created by the FH2 developers are state of the art quility. Even though the CMP is not of the same quality it should still be in the mod. IMO it should be incorporated in the mod without developers of the stock content taking any responsability of it, neither put any of their valuable time into it.

I find a huge problem in dividing the already small playerbase.

I guess i placed too much emphasis on "badly ported content from Waw" (I was a little drunk) what i did mean was that there is a big differance between Stock content and the CMP-content, by that showing my respect for the FH2 developers. - And to ask them to include the CMP into their build.

I love the FHT content, and respect their work and WAW's and 762's aswell. I didn't want to be disrespectful - I just wanted to point out how the CMP-content should be incorporated in the mod to save the playerbase.

Thanks for now!

O-rig post..in spoiler..

Hello to the best Community and developers in my World.

The FH2 launcher has been one of the greates implementions imo since the launch of the mod.
It makes this mod feel more like a standalone game and adds alot to the pro feeling.

I personally think the developers should not be too afraid thease days of becoming a standalone game.
In reality this already is one. (Because of gamespy shut down.)

Nevermind nevermind to my real point.

I do Believe that the quality of Forgotten Hope 2 official content is state of the art - however - the Community mapping release is Dividing our playerbase, making the game less populated.

By all this I mean it is time for the developers to swallow their pride and include this content into the main build via a update via the launcher. By doing that the playerbase will grow and not like now  be divided.
(Lets face it - people nowdays are lazy and wont bother downloading the Community maps manualy)
I and the Community of FH2 recognize and see what is official made content and badly ported content form WaW. You devs are my heroes. Still we need a update.

Thanks for now!

Meuse River
Ramelle Neuville
Vossenack
Pointe du Hoc
Hurtgen Forest
Siege of Girarabub

Modding / Mapping ideas and concepts
« on: 17-05-2011, 19:05:01 »
Hi there!

I've seen less activity in this thread lately, which makes me sad. This part of the forum used to be the first section that I look through. However I understand the modders/costom map makers since I've been mapping myself. Long time has gone since the last release and the next patch is rumored to land in a few months. Another big problem for a mapper is mapping concepts and the lack of ideas. What I also know is that our community got lots of ideas and concepts! So what i request is some ideas and wishes for a possible costom map.

Other important notes:

You could make a post like Archimondays upcoming map:
On December 19th, 1944, 3 days after the start of the Battle of the Bulge, elements of the 422nd and 423rd Infantry Regiments of the 106th American Infantry Division, were positioned on hills overlooking the Belgian town of Schönberg. Early in the morning, around 9 am, the units came under heavy artillery fire from German Flak 18's on the opposite side of the valley, in which Schönberg was positioned.

The regiments soon found themselves bogged down as they tried to enter Schönberg due to the overwhelming amount of German artillery fire coming down around their ears. As Cpl. John Kline recounted:

"I could hear the men from K and L Comapnies screaming for medics. Shorty after that, the shelling started again. The woods were being raked throughout the day by a constant barrage of small arms and artillery fire. We (his company) remained pinned down in the edge of the woods and could not move. I found some protection in a small trench by a tree, as the shelling started."

The Infantry regiments positioned on and around Hill 504 to the South East of Schönberg were receiving very little artillery support. They would learn later that the 590th Field Artillery, to their rear, had been overrun by German troops that were fighting westward towards Schönberg along the Bleialf-Schönberg road. The men of the 590th, despite fighting as Infantrymen, were not eligible for the Combat Infantry Badge after the war.

The 106th Infantry Division, now surrounded by German soldiers, would eventually be ordered to surrender against the overwhelming reality of the situation.

"We disabled our weapons by breaking them on tree trunks, or by taking them apart and throwing the parts in different directions. Then, the Germans led us to a clearing in the forest and directed us to throw down our equipment such as ammo belts, packs, hand grenades, and trench knives. I quickly disposed of the German binoculars that I had found earlier."

Setting you back in time, before the German shelling began, will you and your comrades be able to hold your positions against an onslaught of German artillery fire and advancing tanks and infantry?

Modding / Tank battle map
« on: 28-01-2010, 15:01:21 »
Hi guys, I've been mapping some. And playing some fh2.. I just wanted to play a map with all Westfront tanks :) So i started with one, try it out :)

Since it's a tank map, it is best tested with more than 1 guy , so maybe someone can host a server with the map.

The map is quite wip, no statics in the houses like chairs and stuff, and some hedgerows are just placed in the right direction.

Tell me what you think with some pictures :), I chose to not post any pictures for the surprising factor ;)

Ok so I have been working a bit in the editor to practice some skills.. I'm a noob mapper but i gave this concept a shot.

EDIT: I did this map whitout permission from anyone! Neither FH2, FHT, WaW, or any clan. From me, for? Myself and for nostalgic people. Any questions or stuff. post or pm :)

Download - WIP Try it and give suggestions and thougs please :)

Here goes:

The briefing is very wip! But I wright it here for the feeling of a completed map :)

"This was the time when Churchill began to think about the need for an 'absolutely devastating exterminating attack by very heavy bombers from this country upon the Nazi homeland.' When on the night of 24 August 1943 the Royal air force began a attack to compromize the german warfactories along iron wall, the coastline. However the German Luftwaffe is far from compromized just yet."

Overlook, minimap is wip aswell :)

Suggestions / FH2 ingame menue 'n stuff
« on: 03-09-2009, 12:09:38 »
Hi, Well I've looked around with the bf2 mods.. And I have seen a lot of nice ingame menues and some really nice proffessional looking stuff :)

IMO FH2 clearly is the most professional made mod if you compare them all pr, vbf2, eod, bfp2, peoe, etc

Though fh2 lacks some around stuff :) (totaly unnecesary stuff :P, ) when you click the fh2 icon, the mf ugly "battlefield 2" picture comes up, in PR their own comes up... and The FH2 ingame menue is a lot like vbf2.. Just estetical things :p but anyway

So this is just a sorta suggestion :) a professional mod like fh2 should go all the way right?

Ofc The most important thing is to get all stuff working and done gameplaywise ofc :) But if there is compitable ppl and time, why not? :)

Thanks
