Off-Topic / You going to bail them out or what?
« on: 04-03-2010, 08:03:50 »
Seeing as most of this board is made up of Europeans, I am curious about your thoughts on the matter of the pressing financial situation in Greece?

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/reuters/100303/n_top_news/cnews_us_eurozone_greece

This article is just one of many about the national debt of Greece far exceeding their gross domestic product and I really want to know if this will be the straw that breaks the camel's back when it comes to European co-operation? I am not proposing that the EU is defunct as an organization but that pan-European symbiosis has become more fragile than it outwardly appears?

so what do you guys think,

Suggestions / will we ever see a Dev team wishlist?
« on: 24-02-2010, 06:02:53 »
Every once in a while this question pops into my head but have the Devs ever considered releasing a wishlist of statics and maps that they would like to see made but which are not considered to be a priority for the core team?

Off-Topic / Robbie Burns' night?
« on: 26-11-2009, 02:11:23 »
 Hey guys,

I play in a Bagpipe band and i was wondering if any of you guys have ever attended a Burns' supper (3rd week of January). I am specifically looking for ideas for fundraising (ie: raffles, auctions, etc.)

If you have ever attended a Burns' night, please share some of your ideas with me to help make the most of this evening. My band is not exactly hurting for funds but we are looking to make a success of our own annual event and I feel that prizes and audience inclusive events will certainly help.

some ideas that I have are:
Tartan raffle (done it before, we made a kilt for the winner, a good prize in my opinion)
Bottle Auction (any preferences of Scotch to be sold off, I am thinking Balvenie or Laphroiag, at least 12 year old Single Malt)
Gift Baskets (what should we put in them?)
50/50 draws

any and all ideas are welcome, specifically those of which are unique to any Burns' night events that you have ever attended.

Clans and Tournaments / wrt to WaW language censorship?
« on: 10-11-2009, 03:11:38 »
What if any, are the defined rules of the World at War server with respect to language censorship?

I must say that in all my time playing Fh2, I have never been more poorly treated or responded than I just was for asking a simple question that wasn't answered by the admins who were present. I asked "what are the baseline rules for keeping my language in order to meet the censor's warning? ( i got warned for saying "shit" )

no clear and defined response was made and instead I got kicked,

this conduct certainly reflects very poorly on WaW as there are other servers that are clear in their rules and have capable admins who can reflect the wishes of the server community. If there are WaW server rules, I would appreciate having them available and not subject to one man's discretion...

check your server logs to see my exact words but they certainly weren't worthy of being threatened with a ban, much less the other petty conduct the admins exercised. a little clarification on the matter could benefit the rest of the community, as they currently face the threat of bans for saying words like "ass"

 Hey,
I seem to be victim to some sort of massive FH2 failure. It started off this evening when I could not connect to the World at War and the War is Hell servers. Both of these servers allowed me to load the map but as soon as client verification is running, I get the "connection problems" error message. (this results in me crashing to FH multiplayer page with the server usually showing 2500 ping afterwards)

Second issue has popped up after i reinstalled FH2 and switched over to Kaspersky Internet security (had Norton before). I reinstalled FH2, using the original download that has worked for me until today. Now that the install is complete, I receive the error message that I "do not have the map that is in current rotation". (the map was Op Goodwood)

wtf is going on and how do I solve this? I have ...
windows XP sp3
amd athlon 64 3000+
2 gig's RAM
Nvidia Geforce 7300 GT

Patched from bf 1.41 to BF 1.5
fully reinstalled FH 2.2
changed firewall and Internet security

To get a decent standard of moderation applied to these forums?

Whatever happened to the standards we held ourself to over at Filefront? This concern applies to us all, moderators and posters alike.

Off-Topic / Apollo landings
« on: 22-07-2009, 03:07:51 »
I am somewhat taken aback by the fact that nobody saw fit to make a thread about the historic landings of the first men on the Moon July 20, 1969.

Has this accomplishment shaped your life at all?
In my case, the day that space becomes affordable is the day I move there. I have always dreamed of the potential which lies in every solar and galactic body that meets my gaze.

practical or fantastic, how has man's slow conquest of space shaped your view of things and the future which lies before us?

Suggestions / 60mm and 120mm Mortars
« on: 07-07-2009, 08:07:34 »
I was wondering if the Dev's ever have any intention of adding the 60mm mortar for Allied infantry sections and the 120mm mortar for the Germans heavy fire support?

The 60mm mortar in both direct and indirect fire was valuable in front line service and was often brought into service well before larger mortar teams could be sited for fire missions. This weapon was standard issue for WW2 infantry sections and to this day, it is still used by many countries. As an aside, the 60mm also proved very useful to Allied infantry for engaging fixed positions with direct fire mortar shells.

The German 120mm mortar was exceptionally commonplace from what I understand and would serve well on the FH2 battlefield. While I am not as familiarized with German weapons systems (Mudra, your cue), I have been led to believe that the Germans were quite fond of the mortar system and prized their capture on the battlefield. From witness accounts, it was never pleasant to be under fire from the 120's because they carried such a massive explosion and radius of effect that nothing was safe under its' path.

I am sure that some will be opposed to the 60mm direct firing but in practice, the weapon wasn't used to spam an area, instead it was used to selectively engage well positioned, disciplined and dug-in German troops. Other's may object to the 120 mm for the Germans but I would love to experience its' amazing blast and would enjoy having it at hand to devastate the Allied advance and their precious morale in Normandy.

what does everyone else think?

General Discussion / When did the Toolbox change?
« on: 20-05-2009, 03:05:45 »
When did the Toolbox change to announce 2.2?

Nobody ingame could answer me and I only noticed it today.

So what's the deal? Is that this week's update?

Is there any intention from the dev team to improve upon the selction of German anti tank hand weapons?

Most notably the Hafthohladung and perhaps the Panzerwurf minen.

In the game there is currently an abundance of British anti tank grenades (rifle grenades, sticky bombs, thermo grenades) but nothing for the Germans to use apart from the Gebalte ladung 3 kg and the Gebalte grenade.

Clans and Tournaments / game on- WOLF server
« on: 03-04-2009, 00:04:52 »
Just a reminder to everyone who gets a decent ping to WOLF that the server really gets going on Thursday nights in the North American timezone.

join in for a while and help us keep interest up in the NA population. The maps will probably be 16 player and 32 player versions until we get over 30 players, then an admin will switch to 64 player maps on request.

There's been a lot of new players in the last couple of weeks and I feel it would benefit the FH community if all of us (forum junkies in particular) were to join in and boost the numbers.

Let's fill WOLF tonight from 9 pm Eastern Standard Time onwards,
