You don't want to watch a 2 hour movie with Tom Cruise talking german, trust me.  ;) The way they handled the language transition here was done quite well, imo.
I liked Valkyrie as well, but one big misstep to me was that they filmed it as a suspense driven thriller instead of a straight up historical period drama. Now it was like watching a murder mystery where you already know who did it, and that killed the suspense. But apart from that it was really well made and looked the part.

I went to the Rotterdam Film Festival last friday and saw these:

Essential Killing ***
A story about an imprisoned Taliban warrior who gets transported to Eastern Europe, manages to escape and tries to get home. It's basically a one man show with the lead, played by an excellent Vincent Gallo (Buffalo 66, Arizona Dream), walking the earth and coming across various obstacles while being hunted by the authorities. The movie is flawed and a little slow but it's an interesting look into the psyche of a man who's completely lost. Looks pretty as well.

Black Swan *****
Dark ballet thriller by Darren Aranofsky (Requiem For A Dream, The Wrestler), Already the best movie of the year for me, but I'm a bit of an Aranofski fanboy so I was gonna like it no matter what. I can't really describe this movie objectively anymore so I'll just leave it at: really beautiful and tense movie with a never-better performance by Nathalie Portman as the dancer who has the skill but not the guts to pull off both the white and the black swan part of the classic Swan Lake.

Never Let Me Go ****
The adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's novel by the same name, starring Keira Knightley (Domino, Pirates/Caribean), Carey Mulligan (Pride & Prejudice, Public Enemies) and Andrew Garfield (Social Network, the new Spiderman). I wasn't familiar with this writer until the friend I was with (and who picked the movie) told me that he also wrote Remains of the Day, which is one of my favorite movies. But I only learned about that afterwards.  ;)
Anyway, it is one of those movies that is best seen without knowing too much of the story already, so I'll just say it's set in an alternate version of a postwar Britain where man has found a way to cure the big diseases. It reminded me of Michael Marshall Smith's book "Spares" and the recent blockbuster "The Island", but with a kitchen sink feel to it. Well acted and a gripping story. Not to sound corny, but you can maybe describe it as a "thinking man's sci-fi movie", set in the rural British coutrnyside. :)
FH2 is the game, DarklyDreamingDexter is the name.

I would have dared to call Valkryria a succes if only it was in german.
Its like the Movie "Der untergang"   i so love that movie because it is in german. But if it was in english, i would have liked it, but not loved it

Anyway, cry some more because i am reviewing a serie

Midsomer murders. Season 1.

9/10

So calm. So beautifull to watch. No CSI shit or all that other crap you see on TV today. One of the best Detective drama's i ever watched.
-i am fairly sure that if they took porn off the internet, there would only be one website left and it would be called bring back the porn "Perry cox, Scrubs.

127 Hours

Pretty good, they managed to do quite a lot with so little to work with. A man being stuck in a canyon for 90 minutes.

7/10
I see were you are trying to reach: "how can a 17 year old kid have such a thinking like this? why doesnt he wants to be like normal teens who whana get rich? and his plan actually makes sense, but is too damn revolutionary and good at the same time than is still doubthfull if it works..." - Damaso

Arn - Tempelriddaren  8/10
The first Swedish film I've ever seen all the way through (I tried watching Død snø, but I really wasn't in the mood for it, and It's Norwegian, but who cares?).  I like movies set in this era and even though it wasn't exactly historically accurate, I liked the story, the acting, and the effects.  Apparently this was the most expensive Swedish film to date.

Did not see this coming, Warrior watching the Arn movies?!

They are alright but nothing special

Anyhow, I'm heartbroken and completley destroyed (Why don't we have a "Post something bad that happened to you" thread when we got a Happy one?)

So I'm watching her favorite movie, I haven't seen it but she loved it

PS. I love you

If I was a girl I'm sure I would have cried through the whole movie from start to end.

But now, I'm not a girl. But still, I see why girls like it.

It's alright but it's a chick flick.

But remember now, don't run of thinking "Hmm, according to Rawhide it's OK I'll watch it"

Don't, I'm a stupid sucker with love trouble on my mind.

Oh, haven't seen that one.

Can you compare it to Max Manus? Or is it just the same but in Denmark?

Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)

Great movie all around and is quite enjoyable if you ever have 3 hrs of free time.

Alec Guiness does an amazing job and really all the actors are great. Ironic ending and won a bunch of awards.
You gotta miss all those old world war II movies from the 50s and 60s.
If anyone is a Star Wars junkie, Alec Guiness also played Old Obi Wan in A New Hope (1977).

It's worth a watch, Norwegian resistance during WW2. Flammen & Citronen seems to be kinda like that but in Denmark

Finally got around to watching Cube (1997). Sort of the same premises as in the SAW movies, except here they are trapped in a huge Rubix cube-like building, with every other room being trapped. To get out they need to use each others abilities and figure out what the Cube is and how it works. Secrets are revealed along with a few twists.

Overall 7/10.

I enjoyed the whole concept and looked into watching the follow-ups Hypercube (cube 2) and Cube Zero (cube 3). However, according to reviews these only copy the concept and do it worse, even hurting the first film a bit. So I skipped them.
