problem with cd key
« on: 11-01-2010, 22:01:29 »
hi

so couple days ago my FH2 started showing up this message when joining to server

"Your CD-key is not valid"

i don't know why it says so, but i tried it on vanilla and other mods, same thing.. i have been using that cd-key for years and never this problem. first time i realised this was when i tried to play 2.25.

so is here anyone who knows how to fix this problem?

thanks in advance

Go to regedit.
Then go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2\ergc

It should say ""x9232" and then a bunch of random numbers.  Leave the x9232, then enter you cd-key with no hyphens, it should work.

I had this in various circumstances. It happens when :

A) the cd key is in use by other people or on a blacklist (if it is legal should not happen, but IS possible theoretically)
B) Key is not properly encoded in registry. This happens when you copy your FH dir to new windows installation, without proper 1.4 --> 1.5 patch applied. The key was encrypted since 1.5 !

B is the most likeley. So do a fresh install of BF2 starting from your original disc (or a downloaded dvd from torrent). Enter your legal key. Download and install 1.41 patch, download and install 1.5 patch (which properly encrypts the key in registry).

Should be fixed!
