Where did the Filefront Community go?
« on: 30-03-2009, 02:03:44 »
I'm just wondering where the rest of them went. Did FF have to close cause of monetary issues?

The new forum looks great though! I'm kinda sad that so much forum "history" and some "landmark" threads are going away forever.

I heard from Donutz that n0e is setting up a new forum this week. I bet a lot of the FileFront community will go there.

Lot's of other's went to the rogue:

http://www.therogueforums.com

But as Lightning said, n0e (the forum community manager) is setting up a new forum which he hopes to have completed in the comming week. If you checkout the rogue forum you will find a thread (here) with updates regarding this.

Also, the network part of FF such as BF2files is in the progress of moving to the following location to continue hosting files and stuff like that:
http://www.strategyinformer.com/

It's a shame that the old forums went down, even n0e or anybody else of the FF manamgement wasn't told untill they pulled the plug. :S That's also why they didn't got to leave a message on "sorry lads these forums are down because blablabla".  Basically Ziff Davis closed down FileFront as FF announced on their website:

Quote
Dear FileFront User:

We regret to inform you that we are forced to indefinitely suspend the FileFront site operations on March 30, 2009. If you have uploaded files, images or posted blogs, or if you would like to download some of your favorite files, please take this opportunity to download them before March 30th when the site will be suspended.

We would like to give a warm thank you to all of you who have been part of the FileFront communities we have built together. Your support has had a meaningful impact for all of us here at FileFront. Again, we want to give you a sincere “thank you” for your support over the years and wish you all the very best.

Keep gaming alive,

FileFront Management and Team.

I think its odd how some of the filefront staff like goody, dread, etc, started a new gaming forum if nOe is working on starting FF back up, you know? This is going to cause some confusion.

They said they're going to keep the FH subforums regardless of FH moving to another forum/host.   ;D

THe blog was a fine temporary solution even though I "couldn't"  post there since I had no account and didn't feel like making one. But it doesn't really contain much if anything regarding the survival of GF. So...

But it doesn't really contain much if anything regarding the survival of GF. So...

I'll just quote the highlights of what I said then..

Quote from n0e:
"Hey all. I know many of you have eagerly been awaiting any sort of news as to what is going on and what we plan to do for the future.

To those that don't know I, along with a tremendous amount of help from folks like Phenix, and Ronnie are making backups of all of the network sites and we plan on moving to a new network of fan sites that will be open soon. For legal reasons we may not be able to include the items such as reviews, potd's and other various bits of information on the sites. However, with the permission of the modders we will retain all of the files. Those who do not wish to continue having their files hosted on the new network need only contact me after the first of the sites are online. I'll see to it that they are promptly removed per your request. We will not hassle you about it or tell you to '***** off'. Just remember that we're restoring a database so please don't get upset after seeing them initially. We respect your copyrights.

There will be forums up and running sometime hopefully next week. When they are up I will provide a link here so you know where to go from then on. I certainly hope to see many familiar faces and even new ones. There will be a clean slate for those coming back as well. If you were banned for whatever reason, you are allowed to return and given a second chance.

The new network and forums will have one more thing that I'm sure will make everyone happy. There will be NO corporate involvement. Things will be run by people who actually play games for people who play games.

I'll have more news for everyone as it's available. I wish to thank everyone for their continued patience and I'm certainly cannot wait to have the good parts of FileFront return while just trimming out the bad.

Thanks!
Jeff 'n0e' Mills"

Well, I've already been a member of The Rogue Forums for a while, but as Donutz said many FF'ers are showing up there. Though how many will stay has yet to bee seen.
Personal opinions are not endorsed by FileFr..... Oh wait, never mind. Carry on then.
