Title: The atomic FALLOUT thread!
Post by: THeTA0123 on 06-08-2010, 21:08:15
Anyone getting this fantastic game?

Fallout New Vegas is the next upcoming installement of the Fallout universe. It is not a sequel to Fallout 3 though.
What makes Fallout New Vegas so highly viewed praised and loved already by both the fans, public and gaming magazines, is because Betheseda and Obsedian did the following=

1. They made a sequel of a game without changing the core and highly fun elements
2. They implented alot of new things wich where requested by the consumers, us.

To name a few=
-more weapons(50+% more then Fo3
-More diffrent enemies
-The New Californian republic
-A hardcore mode (you can choose this mode, and in wich you need to eat, sleep, drink and your ammo weights)
-Damage treshold (Very highly requested, and so recieved
and many more

This is what makes me wanna buy this game. The gamemakers take a game wich is very popular and loved, and release the same style, yet improve the things wich missed in the previous title.

Fallout New Vegas hits the stores on october 19th in the US-A, and 22th october for Europe

only if we got better animations, this is only what made me stop play fallout3

and less "static" people (ai is somewhat good, but people just stand there, its not very dynamic), more voices, and faces that look more like people (am i the only one that find fallout faces strange?)

and the damn lost strafe animation (running forward and going left or right the players keep running forward but moves left/right)

I was told that Oscuro (of OOO mod for Oblivion) has been working on this game, is this true? Also, I heard that the popular weapons customisation mod from FO3 was implemented in New Vegas?

If this is true, yes, I will buy it. ;)

I got Fallout 1,2,3 (and im thinking about buying Fallout 3 GOTY edition)
About those new features. They just took some of the best Fallout 3 mods and made it official.
And theta your stupid Nuka Cola av made me want to play Fallout 2 again

hehe, yeah the only thing I was missing from fallout 3 was the customizable weapons. I mean, you've been living and eeking out a living on the wasteland for what? over 200 years? I figure there would be some degree in weapon customization

Don't know yet I liked fall out 3 though didn't like it as much as Oblivion. Oblivion was so awesome hope they make Elder scrolls V soon :). I might buy New Vegas depends what people think about it when its released, right now I don't like the sound of the Vegas concept and neither the story.

Well.

Fallout 3 was made by betheseda
Fallout new vegas is made by OBSIDIAN the same guys who made Oblivion
Hope that changes your mind  ;) ;D

Ye. And it was a dissapointment for the team. But they learned from their mistakes and handes the list to obsidian.
At first they dint thought it was fully possible, but you saw those guys who modded Fallout3.

You will be able to do alot of stuff, like adding a scope, extended magazines and so on

I don't have fallout so I certainly won't buy an expansion to it ...

slightly OT : I really like oblivion, and what a NICE engine to mod. It's really childsplay, even I made a few(exporting something is only like 3 clicks). And bethesda gives wonderful tools to mod too ! if only EA would do that..

Anyway, you should check out this mod http://www.moddb.com/mods/nehrim-at-fates-edge
It's a total convention for oblivion, currently only in german though. But it won't take long before the English version is released (probably within the next 2 months). When it's out I'll certainly download !
Title: Re: Fallout New Vegas
Post by: Thorondor123 on 07-08-2010, 16:08:37
It's not an expansion for Fallout, Fallout was released in 1997 ;)

It's a full stand alone sequel for Fallout and Fallout 2. It has actually nothing to do with Fallout 3, it just uses the same engine.
Title: Re: Fallout New Vegas
Post by: THeTA0123 on 07-08-2010, 16:08:45
Fallout and fallout 2 was on the westcoast. Fallout 3 is at the eastcoast

Fallout new vegas plays back at the west coast, but this time in Old las vegas. Factions from the Previous Fallouts return, most important the New Californian republic

Defiantly NOT an expansion, it is a brand new game even bigger then fallout 3

You see thats the beauty of this game

you want something in? Ask a modder or mod it yourself.
Plus Betheseda and obsidian will release the mod tools together with the game or right after it.

I hadn't planned on doing that, but to try it at a friends house who have said he'll get it.
I guess I'll try it there, and then possibly buy it.

If there won't be a demo that is.

Fallout 3 was pretty damn awesome, and i feel that the creators like.. listens to and are sympathetic with the players (possibilities of modding for example). so I want to support this game, if I like it.

I'm currently replaying CoD: WaW and I played CoD:MW too. While I've been and always will be a FPS fan (basically since the original Wolfenstein) I must say I'm kind of done with this style of arcade shooters. It's fun for a little while but it gets old pretty quick. It's almost insulting that nowhere in these games are you stimulated to use your brain to think. Especially in "authentic" shooters like MoH and CoD, where you would want to use some tactics. But no, there's only one way of completing any engagement and that is the developer's way. The shooters of old always had some kind of puzzle element in there as well, but with these arcady on-rails cross-platform shooters it's like a point and click adventure, without the adventure bit.
Now with WaW the Pacific bit is interesting enough because it hadn't really been done before, but then they go back to Eastfront and it's the same style of scripted rollercoaster ride all over again.

If you have to take a bunker or something in-game part of the fun is figuring out how to do that but the game just spells out exactly what you have to do. Are console gamers really that backwards?

Hardly any difficulty curve as well: it's either completely do-able or overwhelmingly hard but there simply is no "intellectual" challenge anymore.

Gets me thinking of how good a game like Halflife 2 really was. And how games like BiA and Medal Of Honor: Airborne deserve some kudos for at least trying to be a little bit different.

Anyway, New Vegas is definitely on my to-do list because the Fallout series is basically how I like my games. :)

Nicely said, I always hated that CoD had the enemy respawing and respawing again till you move forward, there was no way to backtrack and to try another approach.
Have you ever tried Clive Baker's Undying? Now that was a great FPS Adventure as well!

They sell the stupid censured version, leaving gore out; the delicious and satisfying dismemberment its also cut from the german version. So in conclusion, it sucks; dont buy the german version. It has various language settings so buy the original american uncensored version.

Censur sucks.

nope thats not the case because u can set english if you want (wich i have)
BUT translation was made by worst Polish company ever
they basically mess up every game and dont care about player's opinions
problems with patching (and modding)
For example in Polish (and Russian) Fallout u cant run FOSE which means u cant run some of the best mods
so after 2 game translated by them i promised myself not to buy anything they touched(translation itself arent that good either most times) . so i need Original UK or US version
of Fo3 (i hope they dont get Vegas in their hands)

6 days left for the US release
9 days for the Europe release

Their has been many reviews, with almost everyone of them being very positive about FNV. Several reviewers stated that FNV is like Fallout 3, with things from the first fallouts being missed (Crafting, Damage threshold) along with tons of new things as well as 50% more weapons then Fallout 3 ever had (almost all of them new), Far and far more enemies and ofcourse the return of the 2 Factions. The one that was very important for fallout 1&2, and one that was gonna appear in Van buren, but was cancelled, yet highly popular.

A game magazine in Belgium, PC gameplay (wich are rather critic) said that Fallout new vegas has everything to be the game of the year.

6 days remaining for us Europeans
3 days for you bloody american YANKS! (jk :v)

More and more info surface, like perks and such. Also alot of things surfaced wich thank god had the sign=SPOILER on it. I did not watched them, but if you cannot wait, you can (Click the link on my previous post and browse the news a bit)

Also good news=YES THEIR will be vaults! (5 in total to explore)
The news that their wont be any vaults was quite hard for many, but this was a HOAX!

And a little bonus=The concept art of the New Californian's republic Headquarters

Quick question:

Should I first play Point Lookout add-on before I start New Vegas?
I recently bought the Broken Steel add-on (for the extra levels, yay!) and I had Point Lookout scheduled for after I finish that. But now that New Vegas is so near I kinda want to jump straight into that when it comes out.  :)

Well, I guess I'll give point Lookout a run-through before I say goodbye to Fallout 3 alltogether. That is, if New Vegas is anything less than awesomeness defined! ;)

Post by: THeTA0123 on 15-10-2010, 17:10:44
Point lookout was a nice addon, but Broken steel is more important

Fallout new vegas will be 55645 times more awesome then Fallout 3 though.
But their is not link between both games. Both completly seperate stories

im not a fan of torrents because if you just steal the  stuff then they don't make any money and then they can't make kick ass games any more

im going to buy Fallout because Bethesda's is making half of the game and Obsidian Entertainment is useing Gamebryo engine witch  Bethesda's made

On a side note Bethesda's when the fuck is the next  Elder Scrolls  comeing out.........

RELEASE day for SIE americans!

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:Ausir/Fallout:_New_Vegas_day_1_review_roundup

The game recieved great reviews, with many things like Fantastic story, and a gigantic improvement on every level over fallout 3. It still plays a bit like Fallout 3. but that was the origenal plan of Obsidian

Some reviews i read however, must have been either written by 12 year old kids, or super computer geeks. They first say that the game is awesome, and then they PAN the game and give it crappy scores because it uses the same engine from fallout 3, and the graphics arent extremely well.

Seriously wtf? Considering those guys gave MW2 a 10/10 and yet it uses the same engine as COD4 did.

Overall

Pros=Great story line
"One more mission" feeling
Overall atmosphere

Cons=Bugs
Crashes on XBOX 360.

A patch is released soon however already, to fix alot of major problems. This is good compared to fallout 3, where their where major issues at the release, and a patch came pretty late.

I just found out I have close to £25 credit accumulated on my GAME reward card over the course of several years and a fiver left on my trade-in card.

Seems likely I will be 'buying' this game. Despite the fact I have no idea what its about/what it is/what Fallout is in general.

No harm done I suppose.

Yeah, should be quite different. Walking into a new game with no expectations means I won't be disappointed in the slightest.

Last game I did that with was Resident Evil 2, and its still my most favoritestestest game ever.

Played it for 1 hour and 20 mins or so..

I honestly dont get those reviewers. the grand majority of them where very positive. A few of them bitched about so called "game crashes and bugs wich made the game unplayable"

No game crash so far. :/

The game itself=Brilliant, excellent, awesome, Magnificant.

The amount of weapons, ammo, special ammo's, Weapon mods, Items, food, drinks......   it is INSANE
Also iron sights ftw
Also a +1 now to the NPC's. They look far less stiff, there voice actors are brilliant (Michael Hogan AKA Saul tigh from BSG    FTW!!)
Also the music is great. "Eeey good looking,  what ya been cooking?"when i heard that song my heart stunned.
Even found some sort of sex appeal in some female NPC's..

Nah whatever those people said bad about FNV=A gaint pile of Brahmin crap.
My verdict= FH2 better not release the new theathre the coming 2 months, because any spare time i have, is for FNV.

9/10

Fallout new vegas is really a great game. The amounts of new things is incredibly high. The new things you can do, like crafting your own ammo. coocking food and such.

It is to much to all sum up.

This game is fantastic. Ill be settled in for the following days thats for sure

after 9h playing  ;D
its big !! ITS BIGG!!!!!!

I just saw New Vegas city at horizont - cause its so unbelievable b i g.
Im sure I did many wrong things but thats normal you dont have too much ideas where to go.
What I did in this time:
Prime (the first city south of starting city ) sidequest (The guy from the prison is now the new sheriff - donno maybe i should have given the NCr thr control...) I also repaired the flying robort and its a very good comrade now.
The sidequest gave by the outpost to kill some monsters(easy)
I went to the very south city where the legion killed the whole village -
I repaired the hellios one solar factory ( I gave everyone the same ammount of energie - i wanted to save but i forgett- wanted to test out waht would happen with the other options) I didnt killed the NCR -
SPOILER: There is a bug. after you repaired the main PC and then back to the doctor (not the crazzy one) you can tell him that you fixed it (or something like this) to end the quest. But the sentence doestn dissapear like usually. So you can klick it again and again and everytime you get 1000XP   ;D ( i loaded old save game and i took the fair way)
SPOILER END

Then i went to noviac and made the sidequest. You will get Boone as a comrade if you took the right person.

West of novac is this ropco center with rockets and gouls and blue supermutants. VERY Good Sidequest. I liked the end was kinda epic XD

Heading north in direction to NV- Found a farm of NCR + sidequest which will take you into Vault 34. Attention: I only found a way into the cave( at the top of hill) but once inside i couldnt go out of the same way again. Inside its very very hard because there is high Rad+ tons of gouhls!

--------
The comrades are very very good because now you can carry all together 600. :D
....

Some questions: Is there a house for me like in Fallout 3 at megaton?
Where are you at the game?

Title: Re: Fallout New Vegas

I just met caesar's legion at Nipton  ;D I swear those motherfuckers will meet my .357 magnum soon

Quote
Will there be any houses you live in?
Several houses will be available for player use, including a penthouse suite in the Lucky 38 casino.

So its still a search i guess

Also found really good unique plasma rifle, Q-35 Matter modulator or something like that.

"Tell my mother i did my best"
"Pin my medal on my chest"
"Box me up and ship me home"
(yes i know it is from the movie)

FNV is awesome to le fuck.

Also what faction do you guys lean to?
Well im defiantly leaning towards the awesome New Californian republic. When i saw Nipton... i was honestly shocked a bit by the brutality of the Legion.

For the NCR!!

I just had one of the best expierences in Fallout ever  ;D SPOILER

I was searching a vault- a very big one - and after I checked allmost everything I went to the oversees officers room to find the pc- and opend the secret door (the same door like in FO3 ) and it led me to the "   martys room " ^^ A voice told me to "follow the light" - in the end there was room- (make save game before you enter"!!!!) and a chair - sit down and a movie will start: It tells you about your life- and that it will be over " Some were choosen to be racers some to be medics- and you  you have been choosen to die for the others- not as funny as being a racer but well you are doing it for the community " ..^^  After the video ends the walls open and some surprise will come ! (SAVE BEFORE !! )

loved that 1

sorry, this is a game wich recieved bad name for nothing when it was released. FNV is far and far more then that. I mean, FNV contains like 5 times more stuff and things to do then fallout 3.

Usually I'm more a laissez fair kind of guy in this respect, but when programmers give quality storytelling and a solid game, then I am very vocal here. Use the wild wasteland perk and the game will sparkle even more. I threw myself away with laughter after finding the animal farm and reading all the diary entries. There is just sooo much to find. Incredible. ^^
This is the thing that sets fallout apart. It has fun, nonsense and also some very scary moments. (although I have to get rid of Boone, he's just too good and steals all my XP)

no raiders that are called raiders in New vegas. Just supgroups that behave like raiders ^^

Sometimes I miss the walking through the wasteland . seeing nothing and then finding a farm where raiders hanged some strangers- that are moments that i miss^^

Good idea to walk to searchlight - southeast of napton - high radioactiv but very nice sidequest

Just finished a bunch of Brotherhood of steel quests. As a reward, they gave me a nice safehouse bunker! Located north of Boulder city and east of vault 34.

Between vault 34 and my safehouse, i saw something like a limestone mine. As i approached...i got attacked from all directions BY 10 FRAKKING DEATHCLAWS

The same happend when i first played Fallout 3. my first encounter with a deathclaw..JESUS

I went to novac, picked up my anti-material sniper. Its in bad condition, and only had 30 regular rounds and 10 AP ones. I had to be as far away as possible as these deathclaws (wich are blind) heard me from very far away.

It took me 45 minutes to snipe EACH and every one of them! it was AWESOME. like a real hunter-hunted and visa versa (because i had a few close calls)
Because when i was sniping, i was suddently ambushed by a flock of things called nightstalkers. But when i killed them, one of the deathclaws heard the noise and witouth me noticing, came close. TO CLOSE. FRAK. Hunting revolver out and killed it just in time. had 3 hp left.

FNV combat is so more intense then Fallout 3's.
Title: Re: Fallout New Vegas
Post by: Die Happy on 26-10-2010, 15:10:59
hehe deathclaws ^^
in fallout 3 i had my first encounter with one after leaving the superdupermarked, sometimes they spawn there at random -> instant death.

later i found them rather easy to kill, cripple their legs with the self made dart gun and then kill them with any range weapon or explosives.

anyway, i did a huge investment, and zhis is my new character
At the moment at Quarry junction, sniping deathclaws. I need to find the Deathclaw mother and Deathclaw alpha male wich would send the pack away from the cement factory

Yet i decided to KILL DEM ALL!

Nope. It's an open world game on an older engine that has been pushed to it's limits. Atmosphere and gameplay make up for it though.

It's the same engine as Fallout 3, what do you expect?
Anyhow, the bumpmaps on roadsigns are the best I have seen in any game to date, the rest is still FO3 though.

But between you and me, NV doesn't need sparkling graphics to hide bad gamedesign, since that is truly refined in NV. ^^

I thought so.. Was secretly hoping for a Metro 2033 like open world evironment. Though from what I have seen the story is a bit to 'sweet' for that too.

Metro2033 wouldn't work in an open world environment... perhaps on a supercomputer.... *dreams*

Actually my graphics are on low/medium and i converted the real SS to JPEG wich lowers quality

The 4 mb Screenshot looks much better.

Actuallly FNV graphics are nice, but not the latest of the latest

Didn't know about the engine, sad though. I don't really care for graphics all the time but if it's possible, let's do it. It is 2010 after all  :P

The whole grim apocalypse theme of Metro 2033 was super awesome, imagine just being a Ranger and wandering around trying to collect stuff both on surface and in the tunnels. Maybe one day  :)

Since everybody into this game (-universe) is already on this thread I won't start a new topic about it or go PM-ing everybody but can you guys maybe recommend or describe some of the mods you use in FO3 (and motivations behind installing them)?

I played through the damn thing twice before realising there even were mods and even now in the Broken Steel add-on I the only thing I added myself is a slower levelling mod.

But since "mod" to me still means modification in a Forgotten Hope kind of way, maybe you could give me some hints (for instance, I have no idea what Eglaerinion is talking about ^^). When it comes to games I usually just take 'm the way they come and I don't go tinkering away on them but since I paid for the game I'd like to get the most out of it. :)

Thanks

I already added a bunch of weapons, including a beautiful M21, now I need a M24 SWS. Also added an AK47, because if the world ends, the AK is a better survivor than a roach.

Same, the default 9mm pistol its a CZ 75 pistol, but I believe someone can made a conversation from Fallout 3, there's plenty of M1911 arround.
Title: Re: Fallout New Vegas
Post by: S1lv3rWolf on 27-10-2010, 11:10:03
there's probably an M1911 somewhere for Fallout 3, if you know how to work around with the New Vegas GECK it should be easy enough for you to add it in yourself :P

Just a few months and I should be able to get New Vegas, sooo want to mod it to hell and back ;D

Also, if you're looking for a few good mods for Fallout 3, search for Apocalypse Armory, Diversified Wasteland Clothing, and GNR Enhanced, none of these require FOSE.

So some things I miss from FO 3 and i dislike in NV

You need to play FO3 before just to get used to things like whats a Ghul, a Raider, Brooderhood etc. In FO3 you got a story of their origin: " A ghul- a ghul is a human who hadent the luck to die -instead his skin was brunded ...but ghuls nevertheless are humans, execpt the wild ghuls running in the tunnels you can kill them all" ....Ghul City in Museum was too cool!

You only can be a good or a bad person. RNK or Legion, but at FO3 you could be sometimes good sometimes bad. Like: You could kill Megaton or not - you could kill the Tenpenny tower by ghouls or not.

The radiotowers in FO3 where cool with the morse code- Some times I miss such things.

Just found a radioactiv Ghuls army ^^

where does the game saves the screens?

Verily, even the fact that the GECK for New Vegas was released on the same day the game came out, the modding community has been at it almost immediately.
The NV GECK can be downloaded here, for those who want to wander off and try their own creations:

That's not quite true, you have moral decisions as well and you can be evil (no karma for example) while being idolized by a fraction. :)

Post by: IrishReloaded on 27-10-2010, 16:10:31
Sure- i know - but mh how to explain....I liked the fact more in FO3 "Do I let the ghouls into the tower or not - Do i destroy megaton or not" here its different.

I also miss the supermutants, just a handfull of them at the radio mountain, and very few at the rand of the map

Question for those who own the game
Is the new radio DJ just as good as Three Dog from Fo3?
Title: Re: Fallout New Vegas
Post by: Eglaerinion on 27-10-2010, 22:10:52
That is the major disappointment in FO NV. The soundtrack is much smaller so you hear the same song plenty of times which is annoying after a while. And there is no Three Dog like character in the game. One really dry DJ, Mr New Vegas and a wackjob, Tabitha.
Title: Re: Fallout New Vegas
Post by: IrishReloaded on 27-10-2010, 22:10:11
and you will never see the DJ. The radio mission with the antenna on top of the Washington Monument was cool!!!

I got my final conclusion of the game: The amount of quests + caracters + groups of NV + the tunnels + big complex houses (museums, Congress, Pentagon etc) of FO3

Decided to stop playing and go to bed around midnight since I have an early lecture today. That...and I hate ghouls. Made it to Novac and talked to the sniper in the dino statue. Gotta work up enough courage before I go down to Repconn to clear it out. Ghouls scare the shit outta me.

So far it feels a lot like Fallout 3 which is good and bad. Not much changed in terms of graphics, but for Fallout:NV I'm ok with that. Likin' the way the ammo and iron sights were done though.

Dont worry, what will come next wont be anything like Fallout 3

In the beginning things look alot like FO3 but that changes rapidly

you will LOVE the quest at Repconn
Silly question, if you kill something, is it dead for ever or does is spawn back when you visit the same area again.
Depends. If you kill a NPC wich talks to you, then it wont respawn. Things like raiders, fiends, Soldiers of faction appear randomly.

A cazador nest for example, will respawn new cazadors after a while. But a random encounter will respawn diffrent things. But all of this takes time (ingame time that is)

You can have an apartment, but you can't pimp it like in FO3 (afaik). It is nice and you can put up small trinkets everywhere if you wish, but there is no house-bot that helps you 'pimp' it.

You should have known by now that in this game, the way to the goal is the most important thing, not the goal itself. I've just arrived at Boulder City/Hover Dam, have 15h game-time behind me and have yet to go to the strip. There are just soooo many locations to see.^^

I managed to get the beta release of Darnified UI to work. No more struggling with the UI. After 20 hours I can say that I'm really digging the ammo weight. I'm carefully balancing my stims with my ammo and stocking up any companions I take with me. I've always been the lone wanderer type but having some company is really convenient and dare I say even necessary. I use ED-E btw.

If you help the NCR enough, you get a safehouse.

But helping the BOS in quest is very rewarding. They give you a kick-ass underground bunker with a workbench and reloading bench.

Novac is where you can get an apartment, Lucky 38 has a presidential suit. If you help cachino taking over Gommora's, you also get a place to stay.

Those are the one's i discoverd so far. Novac is the quickest way to get a house (and the quest is KICK-AAASSSS)

So where is the problem?! The game is designed to be open, you can choose the ending by your actions. Just play it again and have fun being the NCR guy, or go bad ass and kill em all for the legion.

my game was bugged I think at Helios: 2 bugs to be honestly:

1) I couldnt kill the NCr guys, i press the button then some bigass sirene and red light turned on but nothign ever happens- nothing happens at all^(sing xD) I think there should be something big.
I also heared in some prerelaise news that you can use it once every day???

2) After completing the quest- i gave everyone the same ammount (seemed to be the best solution then) I could get  as many XPs as I wanted- Because you get the quest ended with the doctor guy, and the sentence that ends the quest didnt dissapeared and you could klick it as often as you wanted to get as many xps as you wished ^^

I think every faction got their own little house for you. I found somewhere a house of the prospectors (needed key to open) and also from the apocaliptica(the faction that is against the BHS)
Also the ghul guy at the hill gives you a house ....

How many comrades you can find there? I got Boone(the best one!) the girl at the southwest Outpost CISS, The Ghoul at the Mutants Radio station (need 100 to open door) and ED.E is an all time comrade.......
Where to find more?

Since I can find myself in Paavo's problem. I would like to know if there are any sneaky big no-go's for a good character? Like certain quest that dont look so bad but which will kick me in the ass later in the game for a good character?  ;D

you can solve any quest (expect the once from CL I didnt manage to even get them) on a good and on a bad way. If your speach skill is high its easier not to kill the target person but to tell it to be better/to join you/ to leave what ever.

I think at helios one you shouldnt kill the NCR guys, and you should take care what you do with the YES Sayer and with Mr. house.

Also take the right person to kill at Dino village^^

The fun part is that you don't know how you choices will affect future quest lines. So I don't get complaints in that regard. If you really bothered you can easily reset a quest via the console (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_3_console_commands#Quests). Just look up the quest base id.

Damn why didn't i think about reseting the quest, hmm... gonna try it out.

EDIT: Not an option really it just makes the game buggy as hell everything get mixed.

MODIFICATION was the key word there, there's plenty of mods that let you modify all the weapons to your pleasure, including extended mags, scopes, laser sights and other stuff, I would recommend going there.

Ok questions.

1. What should I do before I go to New Vegas to improve my character? Everytime I try and head out that way, I encounter either 3 giant Rad Scorps or a shit-ton of Deathclaws who proceed to kill me quite quickly.

2. When I shoot a giant Rad Scorp, there is a little "shield" icon next to it. What does it mean?

3. Anyone else found the super-awesome Chinese stealth armor that makes your character look like a Crysis soldier?

The shield icon means that enemy's DT (damage threshold) is too high for your current gun. You do minimal damage against him so use AP rounds or bigger gun that will penetrate his armor.
Title: Re: Fallout New Vegas
Post by: IrishReloaded on 30-10-2010, 11:10:39
the best way to New vegas is acctually following the main quest + the big side quests: Prim. Mojave Outpost, Novac, the city that got raped, Helios one .......

If you go north of Goodsprings its very very hardcore even if you got good weapons because there are so many enemies..

Chinese armor ? where ??! Time that someone is writing down ALL the good stuff and its locations.

I miss the wopple heads, that was soooo funny

@Azreal
if you want to improve your character specialize it in something (like for example don't raise any skill apart from small guns until is very high (2-3 levels))
later you can improve rest of skills

Means that if you was playing World of Tanks you would hear "It just bounced off!"
Use different type of ammo to get "Penetration!" (an image of the shield breaking down)

1. you need to avoid that area called quary junction. Deathclaw area. travel south via primm to nipton, head east and again north. stick with the main road

2. The shield is damage treshold. this means your current weapon deals less damage then it should. Consider using a more powerfull penetrating weapon or use AP ammo.

It is Bethesda's engine. If you can't finish companion quests because they are bugged or have to use a enormous PC unfriendly HUD made for console gamers you can't tell me I don't need mods. The additional weapons, graphics and gameplay tweaks are just a bonus.

I'm only as much of a modder as the next guy, I really don't know how to model or texture so I use what I can as resource, in this case, porting over a few models from mods found for Fallout 3 (20th Century Weapons, WW2 Uniforms).

Albeit, for the War-Time Radio idea I did have in mind getting the loadscreen songs from the FH2 mod :P

EDIT: not to mention ideas, I always seem to be full of them, depending on what it's for.

Yea, I tend to upgrade other things like my guns, explosives, and lock-pick. Don't really have much use for speech and barter when I can just break into a safe, pick-pocket a person, or just kill them.

And speaking of, it annoys me that you can no longer kill a caravan, and steal their entire stock. In FO3 I used to be able to steal all the weaponry, ammo, and take all the caps that they had. But now, I can only take like 1/5 of what they had.

I have to admit though, that they really did a fine job on the sounds of ghouls now (feral)
When they hear you, the screams

its like a very good zombie movie!

Will try the "yes man" option next time.
It's a great game, a bit buggy here and there, nothing that the console can't fix.

I had a higher fear of robots than I had of ghouls.
Albeit with the Robotics Expert perk and the Pulse Gun things turned a little bit too easy ;D

But yes, if you have Veronica as a companion, sooner or later you'll get a quest called "I Could Make You Care", in which one of the options is to go to Vault 34.

I'm also going around w/ Rex and Veronica, gave Veronica the "Oh, Baby!" Unique Super Sledge.
let's just say things were never the same again.

You can also get a quest for Vault 34 if you inspect the water pump houses and there you'll get a quest to search for the source of the contamination. :)
The ghouls in Vault 34 are a real pain to anyone below level 15 and without support. ^^
Loved Vault 22. Did anyone else hear the Mobile Phone? I just love homages (even if they are for bad movies)!

Don't think I've heard it unfortunately, I was too busy getting creeped the hell out from the background music the game puts up, makes going into vaults alot more frightening.

I'm currently trying to complete the "Oh My Papa" quest, and apparently the last location I need to get to is right between Deathclaws, Giant Radscorpions and Cazadors. Sorry Fallout, but I don't have a death wish yet. ;)
(albeit I did kill all of the Radscorpions with a combination of a melee magazine, psycho, med-x a unique 9 Iron and two awesome close range companions).

I've been using the GECK for long enough to tell you that the DevArmory is nothing more than an empty cell (either that or it's broken). So it's rather worthless going into it, if you know anything about using the GECK you might aswell make your own.

Also, me and my current companions (http://i53.tinypic.com/atvyty.jpg).

It's supposed to, but the DevArmory has absolutely nothing as far as I'm concerned.
Maybe TestQA could be it? (on my laptop atm so I can't really check)

EDIT: doesn't seem to be any cell that could be considered such.

I've unleashed the army of Securitrons, but little does Mr. House know that I have my own dark plans to take over New Vegas

I feel like I'm being watched now, those were exactly my plans.
Albeit I said to myself "Oh god what have I done" when I first unleashed them.

at the VERY northeast of the map.
you will follow the street von vegas up a little hill, a man will talk to you bla bla.

then best way is to walk at the very east next to the cliffs, and when the right point is there rush to the fence.

Speak to everyone you find! Don't just follow the main quest marker.
You will find dozens of funny and good sidequests and you will level up faster making it easier to encounter some of the enemies.
Also take your time and read notes and open computer terminals to read emails and logs. The background story of Fallout is really filled with awesome stories and fleshed out with fun things.
Be sure to use the Wild Wasteland perk, it will make things even more bizarre. ^^

and the sheriff quest in primm is really big, you can have 3-4 choises. and you will hear interviews afterwards on the radio.
You quys know that the Goodspring Shop really exist? Googleearth, Las Vegas then southwest Goodsprings, Primm with the original Hotel + Rollercoaster, Mojave Outpost. Even more accurate then it was in FO3.

Still I liked the terrain of FO3 more. FNV sidequest + FO3s terrain

That isn't too bad, except if you were planing on finishing the game for the 'bad' side, where you join up with Ceasar to kill them all. ^^
That's the beauty of Fallout. Everyone is good and evil in his own way. ^^

Since FNV got released, many important patches have been released and 3 DLC's have been released

-Dead money
-Honest hearts
-Old world blues

Dead money is not bad.. It has 2 cool weapons but it was a bit dissapointing. worth getting once the prices go down
Honest hearts had a decent story line, a vast new area to explore and with VERY cool weapons (M1911 Colt, M1928 Thompson to name a few)
Old world blue's was released last week. And this DLC is one of the BEST ever released. The story line is awesome, the new equipment is nice, you get this awesome home called the 'sink' where you can do so much stuff wich will help you trough the entire story line(Fill empty bottles and get purified water, plant seeds and grow food, convert useless junk into usefull basic materials and so on)

Especialy epic are the new characters, the dialogs, the crazyness. Old world blues has recieved great reception aswel

I just love the SINK and its appliances. A "Sexy" Seed/biological planting machine", a Butler central market, a Toaster wich wants to set the world on fire and destroys toasters, a Psychopat Small securiton named muggy wich just HAS TO DESTROY COFFEE MUGS, a "Blues black as coffee" juxebox for weapon upgrades, and a sink with fear for contamination, wich fills any empty bottle and turns it into a purified water...And 2 female bickering light switches...

For Honest hearts and dead money, i should wait for the sale's. They will appear soon. But Old world blues is something you must have if you like Fallout new vegas or Fallout in general

Dead money was awesome in my opinion. Ending was a bit of meh, but only ending.I liked Sierra Madre casino, won 10k Sierra Madre chips there. Ending sucked because in 2/3 it made no sense to me .And its stupid that you cant go back to Sierra Mare after you finish the story line (there are mods that allow you to go back there though)

Honest Hears is great, but waaaaay too short storyline(DM was about 10 or even more hours, HH not even half of that),dn't like the script at the beginning,Zion park looks great, and its awesome to explore.
SPOILER ALERT!
Don't like the fact that there's nobody there after the ending.

About the OWB. i agree, its awesome, are to explore is great, new equipment is awesome. and I found it extremely funny (actually its funny all the time) Funny dialogs and they got v.good voice actors for every character there. especially the Toaster and Muggy.

And Theta forgot about new awesome Auto-doc there. allowing you to install lots of cool implants (kinda pointless since im lvl 43 now and i can smash everything on my path)

Just finished Old world blues.

It was a worthy DLC. No doubt.
The main story line was pretty good and had a nice plot twist on the end.
There's still tons of sidequests for me to do...considering that it took me 4 days to complete the main story line and several sidequests

A few words of info though

-Before you travel to the "Big Mountain", take as MUCH supplies with you as you can. As soon as you arrive you have a '"house" at your disposal, but a large amount of weapons, ammo, medicene and drugs is VERY recommended. If you have Death money, take Automatic rifle, Honest hearts? Bring along the Thompson and Colt pistol. Anti matirial rifle, minigun (As much ammo as possible) and other stuff.
-You can always go back once you completed the main quest. Still tonnes of stuff to do.

The last DLC, lonesome road is released today. For the US Folks it is already released. Us europeans have to wait a bit longer

The first reviews of players are pouring in on the forums, being very very positive about this DLC, calling it a worthy ending of FNV.

ye a bit to short but great things to be found.

Old world blues still remains the best

It was completly wacky, odd and weird
But in the true Fallout way.

Will have to go bounty hunting with my 2 babies then.

Scoped&silenced M3 Carbine

and

FN FAL for close up encounters

I'll try and dig the FAL mod up if anyone wants. It added an expansion to gunrunners by the I88 stop, called the Gun Market. Ammo and weps of all kinds, then there is the runner of the place, the FAL manufacturer.

I have a mod that adds all sorts of weapons all around the world (on NPCs, in shops etc).  It has a FAL in it.  Maybe I can try and dig it up again for you.

Gun runners arsenal is released today (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Gun_Runners%27_Arsenal)

For 4 US dollars or 3 euro, you will get 33 new weapons, 40 new weapon mods and 22 new ammo types.

Together with Couriers stash (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Courier%27s_Stash)

for 1.99 dollars, or 1 euro, you will get all the pre order bonuses.

These 2 mark the last DLC's of Fallout new vegas, as bethesda stops working on FNV. Jason bergman was the last person working on this project, and he will be shutting the lights down. He and the rest of the Fallout new vegas development team have moved on to newer projects, like Fallout 4(probaly) and Ofcourse, Elder scrolls V Skyrim.

Basically they have added bunch of mods and demand money for them.Kinda sad. I like all the new 12 gauge ammo though.
Still, they should have made some more mods into one last official patch of the game (texture mods, weather mods, selective fire mod to name a few)
Title: Re: Fallout New Vegas
Post by: THeTA0123 on 27-09-2011, 16:09:20
Appearntly Obsidian is not allowed to do that. There where a few mods Obsidian wanted to imput indeed, but they did not recieved the permission of Bethesda works to do that.

Still 3 euro for Gun runners arsenal..Thats not much.

Yeah, doesn't look like much, but its got massive potential. Its quite a success though since everyone deemed it "impossible" to make multiplayer for Fallout, and this one has only one Dev (yet).
We can see an NPC (Sunny Smiles), so it doesn't look like GTAMP-like NPC-less world.
Very promising, If is going to have quests, mods and whatnot, it may be just the best thing ever.
Title: Re: Fallout New Vegas
Post by: THeTA0123 on 01-06-2012, 22:06:48
to those intrested in the matter, Bethesda now fully owns the fallout franchise. This means that we will most likely hear something about fallout 4 in the future. As said by pete hines from bethesda=

"The whole reason we went out and acquired the license and that we now own Fallout is that we clearly intended to make more than one". He also added: "This is not something we're going to do once and then go away and never do it again. When that will be or how long that will be God only knows, but we acquired it specifically because we wanted to own it and develop it and work on it like we do with The Elder Scrolls"

Very high chance that the creation engine, the one used for skyrim, will be used for Fallout 4.

In the past bethesda mentione that they where very impressed with Obsidians work and they saw potential in combining forces for Fallout 4.

Bethesda deliverd a better story and atmosphere with fallout 3.
But Obsidian did a much better job with equipment, weapons, factions and enemies you had to face

There's just something with Obsidian... they are masters of making sequels for other studios' games.

KoTOR 2 - Brilliant.
Neverwinter Nights 2 - Brilliant, even better than the original.
Fallout New Vegas - Brilliant, better that FO 3.

I think that TB mention in one of the Mailboxes that Bethesda didn't want to pay Obsidian their money, because FNV didn't get high enough score on Meta-critic or something? Or am i mixing things up now?

FNV was overall better then Fallout 3. Only the story was a bit more catching in Fo3.

I thing that TB mention in one of the Mailboxes that Bethesda didn't want to pay Obsidian their money, because FNV didn't get high enough score on Meta-critic or something? Or am i mixing things up now?
An rumour that was said to be false. Seeing as 3 weeks after release FNV already sold 5 million copies (300 million revenue)

But bethesda learned alot from games since FO3. just look at skyrim

We will see what it brings!

From The Escapist:
Quote
"[Fallout: New Vegas] was a straight payment, no royalties, only a bonus if we got an 85+ on Metacritic, which we didn't," Avellone wrote. If you're a fan of New Vegas, or of people getting paid well for hard work, this admission is made more poignantly gloomy by the fact that it reached an 84, just one point away from the extra compensation. The bonus was likely a big deal for Obsidian, considering that the developer doesn't see one cent on a per sale basis.

Fallout New Vegas + ALL DLCs for 9.99€

Worth it?

Yes. It may even be too much. I bought F:NV last year, without any DLC and it's big. I mean reeaally big. I have spent hours and hours in this world and still only played maybe 50% of the storyline. I meant 'too big' cuz I noticed I missed a bit of focus, a feeling of progression. But I don't mean that negative, just as an observation, compared to Fallout 3. :)

So go get it, and check this thread for suitable mods. Cuz Fallout needs mods.

Oh, and maybe the FO veterans can help here: I installed the Willow mod, but her storyline is stuck. I need to get her teddybear back but the guy who was supposed to have it is dead but he doesn't have the bear with him but the quest marker keeps pointing at the location of the dead guy. I think it's a bug, but maybe I'm missing something.

So, I downloaded and installed Project Brazil. The intro was very well made as well as the launcher letting you choose betweeen vFO and PB.
Dr. Rossman though seems to be bugged somehow (at least for me) He always tells me to "just finish the test" which I have already done.
I don't want to fail at the very first quest :/

Post by: |7th|Nighthawk on 01-06-2013, 15:06:50
I have a heavily modified Fallout New Vegas with tons of new items (mostly weapons and three or four armours) and it worked just fine.

http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/47632//? I'm gonna try this now.

Project Brazil was kinda short. Maybe I missed something BUT: Very well made Vault, very detailed and I got lost once or twice. The storyline was enjoyable too and I liked the idea of that dream. Character voices are done pretty well, especially for a mod. There are some bugs and moments where there is text but no sound but I'm completley ok with that. One time, someon lost a close friend I think and the voice actor was not that convincing, I had to laugh but rest assured, this only happened once or twice.
Other than that, I did not want to explore that outside world until there are some quests in it. I don't want to spoil it for me. The part I saw was pretty solid apart from usual plants and trees hovering from time to time but the main game has the same issues and was done by professionals. All in all, I can say I really look forward for the second installment.

The bug with Dr. Rossman was my fault, I simply did not install that DLC fix. Well, I thought I had it installed, but I did not actually.

People are expecting NV to be Fallout 4. So, when they realized what they got is basically a much better Fallout 3, they got disappointed.

Fallout:NV has everything you think should be there from Fallout 3. It is a great game IMO.
Title: Re: Fallout New Vegas
Post by: Surfbird on 30-06-2013, 14:06:15
Well, it's kinda different too though. I liked the atmosphere in Fallout 3 better for example. But the quests of NV seem a lot more thought through, more exciting and funny. I also like a good bunch of NV equipment better. To me it's pretty even, two great games.

There is tons of unintentional humor too. There is one quest where you help a NCR guy to catch a drug dealer and gambler with stacked deck. As you move in together to bring him in, he insults the NCR guy in a very bad way. He is so enraged that he kills him instead of arresting him. Then he says something like: "He deserved it". At least normally.
For me, he drew his weapon, had to reload the mag, had to cock the rifle again because it was broken and than shot him. Then he was like "Oh my God!" I thought he was shocked about what he did but then he said: "Are you not the person who saved presidendt Kimball?" That was totally unexpected. This game is really great in doing such things ;D

Anyone knows a virusfree good mod to enable you of recruiting multiple human followers that are usually NPC.
I'd love get Red Lucy and a guard from the Mormon Fort to be followers as well  ;D

I don't think I really understand that part:

multiple human followers that are usually NPC.

First of all, you would have this: http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/34870/?

Do you mean those random NPCs? I also tried to find a mod but I think it only exists for Fallout 3 and the modder has ceased developement. Don't know whether it exists now. I think the name was something like Sharing and Caring.

Fallout nexus is a great adress when you look for good, virus free mods.

yeah, i mean like the fallout 3 mod that you can speak to anyone you see and ask them as follower. I read it existed for FO3, but couldn't find it for FO NV.
Thanks for the site  :)

There are also those mods which add more lights to see in the dark. I think you need that NVSE thingy. Never tried it as I was too lazy and did not want to mess up my Fallout.

I wanted to download this mod
http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/50641/?
I read i need the NMM for it, so i got it. But when i did download via that program it said it couldn't write over stuff. So then i tried manual download, but saw that the zip contained so many files i didn't kno where to put what. Anyone knows how to solve this? (most preferably just solving the overwrite program).

Post by: |7th|Nighthawk on 22-07-2013, 11:07:39
Easy: Extract and put everything into your Data directory in main menu directory. Then open the launcher and select the .esp and afterwards launch the game. Should work now :)
Got no time to test it now because a) my summer job begins soon and b) my character is somewhere in Big MT.
Title: Re: Fallout New Vegas
Post by: Born2Kill 007 on 22-07-2013, 22:07:27
yes, i did read similar things, but the problem is:
the manual download isn't only the esp file, but it also contains audio and other folders

Title: Re: Fallout New Vegas
Post by: Born2Kill 007 on 23-07-2013, 01:07:26
The mod zipfile contains:
folder: Meshes
folder: sound
folder: textures
file: delilah.esp

The folders are full of other folders and files

So i just select all these and put them in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout New Vegas\Data
?

Sorry for being so noob in this  :-[
Title: Re: Fallout New Vegas

alright, thanks everyone  ;D
I'll try it tomorow evening :)
So when i've put it all in that folder, the game will just change and the content will be added to saved games? or i have to activate or it only applies to new games?
Title: Re: Fallout New Vegas
Post by: Musti on 23-07-2013, 02:07:12
After you put everything in the Data folder you have to activate the mod in the launcher (data files and you tick the right box) or alternatively you can download FOMM, Fallout Mod Manager to make mod managing a lot easier (a must have when you get the mod fever and you start installing bajillions of mods ) and then just continue playing, the content will be added and you don't have to start a new game (unless stated otherwise, but that's very very rare)
Title: Re: Fallout New Vegas
Post by: |7th|Nighthawk on 23-07-2013, 10:07:20
Yeah, Musti pretty much summed it up. I have 13.2gb of mods all installed by hand so FOMM is not need in my opinion. At least not for mods like I have. Most of them behave like yours, just put everything in Data.

http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/topalltime/?adult=0
http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/topalltime/?adult=2

My recommendatons?

First some basic things that you need, regardless of what mods you want:
http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/36901/?tab=1&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D36901%26preview%3D&pUp=1 - Excellent mod manager
http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/35935/? - this thing to make some mods work at all
http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/42507/? - mod configuration, compatible with MANY mods.
http://nvse.silverlock.org/ - to make some more advanced mods work.

And now, to mods:
- http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/40040/? - All-in-one mod package, configurable, pure excellence.
Although, if you don't want to deal with the whole package you can download seperate mods for mmost important functions.
- http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/39651/? -Expanded weapon mod kits, self explanatory.
- http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/44515/? - Weapon mod menu, allows to mount and de-mount weapon mods as you wish (scopes and shiz), It's impossible to do in Vanilla.
- http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/34888/? -removes orange tint, makes nights SUPER dark.
- http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/39968/? - Works great combine with the mod above.
- http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/42666/?tab=1&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D42666%26preview%3D&pUp=1 - Improved effects.
- http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/43534/? - additional buildings to visit, pretty cool.
- http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/45138/? - "quest" mods, whole new adventure, pretty awesome and quite high quality.

Well, that's pretty good start I think :D

Well, i'll keep it shorter, hoping that you will get them for sure:

http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/50641//?
http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/41779//?

They are both excellent companion mods, and both companions, u can get from the beginning. They also both have a quest that takes you around the Mojave, so excellent mods to ge from the beginning and have them with you while solving the game and making your companions better.

I also have some other mods, but they are nothing compared to these 2 in my opinion  ;D

And well, when you got tired of the vanilla, there is another world and questline with this mod:
http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/45138//?

Incorrect. Fallout 4 will use a new version of the creation engine, used on skyrim.

The same guy who leaked Fallout 4 and got the trailer one hour earlier on kotaku, has said the ingame footage is very raw. We will see how it delivers

Oh come on Theta, the story was awful and generic as fuck, with a ridiculous ending, characters were very weak as well, apart from very select few (like lovely Moira Brown) I can't remember many, despite finishing the game 3 times.
Also in theory the game should allow you to decide whether you want to be evil or good, and then it favours the "goody-two-shoes" side. And then we have the problem of dialogue options, the game makes you thing you have so many choics, and ways to go in conversations, and finish quests, meanwhile there are situations in that game where you get 4 dialogue options, 3 of which give you EXACTLY the same result, truly what an amazing choice.
And did I mention the extrememly weak DLC?

The world in F3? Yeah, that was brilliant, that's what Bethesda is the best at, making worlds full of things and places that you want to explore, but that's just not enough for a Fallout game, not to me. They should stick to making Elder Scrolls.

I hope they won't fuck it up, I want it to be good.

In a decade where weapons came in dlc pacs and only other thing added might be a skin, these guys gave you 3 new places with unique gear and quests and the ability to continue the game with no end.

Agree on the story part though, not many names worth remembering.

I hated the story in FO3.  No choice, and then at the end it presents you with a ridiculous choice between restoring water to people, or being a massive dickweed for no reason at all and completely at random, after a whole game of being a goody two shoes.

New Vegas Script Extender is a must-have if you're going to be successful with modding.
Project Nevada
Nevada Skies
Texture pack of your choosing. There are two "competitors"
EVE- Essential Visual Enhancers
Fallout Character Overhaul
Weapon retexture project
More Perks
More Traits
New Vegas bounties 1 & 2 (Fun quest line especially if you're a 'cowboy' character)
ENB of your choosing.

EDIT: Almost forgot the most important mod:
http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35061/?
Conelrad 640-1240 - Civil Defense Radio. You don't need any other radio channel.

Quote
This mod adds a new radio station to your Pip-Boy 3000.

The station plays 55 music tracks from the era of the Atomic
Threat, including 29 authentic public service announcements from
Civil Defense Washington.

CONELRAD (Control of Electromagnetic [or Electronic] Radiation) was a method
of emergency broadcasting to the public of the United States in the event of
enemy attack. It was intended to serve two purposes; to prevent Soviet
bombers from homing in on American cities by using radio or TV stations as
beacons, and to provide essential civil defense information on 640-1240.

2 hours, 20 minutes of Music across 55 tracks
22 minutes of PSAs & Civil Defense

Bethesda is going to be on stage at E3 tonight. 4:00 Berlin time. I think i will watch it.

Watched it now. Many red flags, many cool things.

Pros:

Weapon configuration

Clunky power armor

Customize armor

Faces looks good for once

VATS looks nice

Base building

Dat collectors edition pip-boy

It's not FO3

Sprint confirmed

Trailer song is Atombomb girl, which is from the Conelrad Civil defense radio. I really hope they snatched up more songs from that one. Theyre perfect.

Seems like they have played NV/3 with the popular mods and taken many of their ideas, which is nice.

Cons:

Where are the skill points?!

Traits?

Voiced protag with Mass effect dialog wheel

Did not talk anything about RPG elements like quests and choices. Bethesda makes horrible linear quests.

No hardcore mode mentioned

No ammo type mentioned

No factions uncovered, only BoS. They seem hostile though, thank God.

Bethesda

----------------------------------------------------------
I am still on the fence. Will buy because of pip-boy, but right now it seems like they've butchered a lot of things that makes FO so great. I hope Obsidian will be allowed to make a spin off. Meanwhile I'll be playing NV.

I so hope the BOS is a good faction tough in FO4. Or atleast neutral

4 hours into playing, i can only applaud this amazing game. short story= everything is more awesome and better

Only small downsides so far=

-When you stow away a weapon, it is no longer on your back/holster. This should return

-SPOILER AHEAD

(imo the first minute man quest shouldnt give you already a frikking powerarmor and a fight against a deathclaw)

It got some knocks already for lacking the cleverness and humour of New Vegas.  What's your take?

http://www.gamepur.com/guide/21111-fallout-4-pc-error-how-unlock-fps-add-add-219-support-change-fov-mouse.html

I figure this should be a mandatory post for this thread for us PC gamers to unlock all the console crap for the capped fps and crappy field of view.  Just a few fixes and you can play it as it is meant to be.

Also, how does one stow/holster a weapon?  For some reason, no key binding of mine seems to work- the only way I can get it to stow is by using a workbench.

Holding 'R' works for me. Just like in any other Bethesda game.

Followed the Brotherhood of Steel questline and was mightily impressed with one of the scenes. Won't spoil anything but if you want to witness something cool, go BOS.

Doing that also spawns BOS patrols across the wasteland which can be really helpful sometimes. Ran into three power armored guys with laser gatling guns and they completely annihilated a Deathclaw I led to them.

I'm planning to start playing at Christmas. Still, I already know about the major twist in the plot and the end of the game. There are a lot of people out there willing to spoil your expirience. Be aware.

Same here, the BOS quest line is amazing. Currently at the mission search the patrols. Super mutants are a major threat

And god their hounds apply tactics. i was fighting 4 super mutants and their hounds just circled me

I waited for my bonus this December, and looking forward to unleash the hell out of fun that I had when abusing my health with Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

Any comments about the base building? I mean, that's one of my ++++++ points with this new game. Base building in the FO universe wasteland? That is worth another AAA+ title I would instantly buy, I hope they don't get the idea, but FO4 is already awesome without that. This shows that game can improve with iterations, not just changing contents and updating graphics (yes that is CoD).

The workshop menu could use some tooling but building takes up hours and hours of fun

To me the base building feels more like a chore rather than something fun. Especially when the bases kind of lack meaning. I just blonked down all crafting stations and pretty much left it at that. The biggest issues is that you have to do the building from first person view. Would be a lot better if it had a top-down view when placing buildings. It feels bloody impossible to set walls next to each other.

Is it any better from 3rd person camera?

I might understand that this is the same frustration with Command & Conquer Renegade.

I don't really get why there's so many of them when you can just fast travel. What's the point of setting up several bases instead of using a single one? Perhaps for the artillery support, but I've never used that anyway.

I was just asking where he got this in the Fallout universe. Google helped me and I found myself a entire set of that X-01 power armor, I just had to kill a couple of robots. ^^

Started to play the game couple of days ago. As I will barely have any time to play, this will take a while. Spend about 15 hours on discovering the oportunities for base building and its available objects, experimenting how to compose beton, metal and wooden elements.

If possible, I'd really like to see your most immersive, most blended in base screenshots. It appears the approaches in basebuilding vary a lot.

Beton = concrete in English.

Anyway, there are limits in the number of objects you could put in a settlement, this includes the walls / roofs / floors annoyingly. Not separated from the counts are even the minisculest items such as garbage bin or a lamp.

My first base building uses enclosed walls, but after that, I started using balcony-like walls. Some allows for sloped roofs, some requires flat roof, otherwise your building will look a bit awkward.

I prefer to lay foundation to my building rather than straight building it with flat floor pieces. Foundation such as stilts or concrete could really improve the sight, and even-out the tall grasses, bushes, or other non-collision meshed objects that might protrude from the floor.

So I planned and I am creating a settlement in Fallout 4.

I got the outer walls, at least the base walls of all buildings planned, a complete power grid energizing all buildings, at least half of the buildings being ready-furnished and equiped with lighting. My biggest problem is the hospital, as there is a total lack of hospital furnite, unless I'm going to rob the medical furniture from vault 81. I occasionally dropped inventory as well, like plates, picture frames, toasters, glasses, bottles, cutlery up to dishcloth, doing trials where to put them so they don't get overturned by the settlers. I just sat up the local hotel including a bar and restrooms (even though there are no sinks available but only toilets), creating 10 single rooms and 2 double rooms. I then felt dealing the subject of acquiring some additional settlers for my settlement when I realized that the maximum of settlers available in a settlement is 20.

What am I doing now with my 14 buildings created for at least 50 settlers? Not sure where I got the number of 50, but I got it somewhere.

This is almost as disappointing as SimCity 2k13.

Please, somebody go fuck Bethesda or make them fuck themselves. :(

Have you hit the number of object limit in a settlement?

I did. I mod it out anyways. I want a safe but well-furnished settlements, not some rudimentary shacks with basic defense and routinely baseraped by mutants and raiders alike. This makes giving settlers the ultimate weapons useless, as they'll continuously die or leave the settlement to nowhere.
Title: Re: The atomic FALLOUT thread!

Yes, I hit the limit pretty fast. I simply used the exploit. I dropped items on the ground and collected them in the workshop menu. I dropped about 10 to 15 items, about 50 times. Took an hour or two.

Had no problems with settlers dying until it came to Covenant. Yes, Covenant, with the wall and the multiple gun turrets. It was attacked, and when I arrived, everybody rushed outside and ran around the wall like it is some race. Covenant got 7 settlers having specific names, which do not die, of which you cannot assign 6 to any production. Only one is producing food. Then there are only two random settlers, having a total of nine. Those two random settlers died. Now I got 1 settler producing 6 food for the remaining 7 settlers. Serves them well. I hate Covenant. They're hypocrits.

Btw. Far Harbor DLC got released today.

Edit:// spelling

Just get some mods. There are mods that remove your building limit and there are mods that give you about every texture in the game. Didn't have much time in the recent months so didn't yet get them myself, but i've heard of other people that love them.
