Off topic but for the people who have played with the Oculus Rift & TrackIR. Is the Oculus worth it? Better than TrackIR? or not comparable?
AHAHAH what? It's not even comparable, it's like 9001x better. See, with Oculus your head is inside the game, you can look BEHIND you in the game by turning your head. If you did that with TrackIR you would be looking at your room and lose the screen. Way better, and it's in 3D too!  :)

I tried the Oculus for 5 minutes at a gameshow and my god this thing is freaking intense...its really, not comparable to any other VR stuff

Those youtube guys who overreact when playing horrorgames?
Well i can perfectly understand they are NOT overreacting when playing with the Oculus.
Then again, i do wonder what the pricetag will be.

The consumer version will be more refined as the developer one (as shown at E3). So it will most likely cost over 300 dollars

Now combine that gadget with this game. Chopping down a tree will be incredibly realistic dont you think??

TBH the mutant stuff doesnt really intrest me. The fact that you can build anything from a shack to an entire wooden fortress....thats what really got me facinating! Laying traps all over the place, simular to Predator!
-i am fairly sure that if they took porn off the internet, there would only be one website left and it would be called bring back the porn "Perry cox, Scrubs.

The DEV version is 300$, the consumer version will most likely cost less. The creators of the Rift said that if they could, they would make it free (impossible of course) because they think it should be the new way to game.

Quote
“The lower the price point, the wider the audience,” Iribe told the magazine. “We have all kinds of fantasy ideas. We’d love it to be free one day, so how do we get it as close to free as possible? Obviously it won’t be that in the beginning. We’re targeting the $300 price point right now but there’s the potential that it could get much less expensive with a few different relationships and strategies."

 My how times change.

When i was young, my friends and I would actually go into the woods, build forts & camp out by a fire.

Now days its all simulated on a PC.

The Open World game is a fairly new concept that hasnt reached its full potential....

....this game looks .......boring....

Give me a open world game set in WW2, then we will talk....

As has been said, it's not comparable. You can look behind you and tilt your head in any direction you want.
The Developer Kit still has a lot of downsides, most notably the bad resolution and the resulting Screen Door Effect, but all that is not too bad. The feeling of being in a game makes more than up for that. :)
The Rift is and will be perfect for racing and flight sims! Dogfighting with it is a treat.
I can't see it having a good stand with FPS though. The nausea you get from it is a real killer, when your body moves separately from your head by more than, let's say, 100DEG you feel it creeping up on you in under a minute. I have a tough stomach, but that got me close to vomiting. It's really bad, when you are expecting to walk straight, but your body is off centre by like 1-3DEG and your head tries to compute the different vector! ^^

Kinda off topic, but are there any games that are purely survival in extreme conditions, with no zombies or anything?

That would be "Don't Starve" then.
It is pure survival in extreme conditions and has no zombies. :)

But it does have plenty of annoying monsters :D. Of course, it doesn't change the fact it's a brilliant game.
