I really hope that dude with a mustache is Biggs Darklighter.
Your fascination with Biggs is getting frightening.

There is a reason why we don't use ww1 era guns in wars anymore....it's because they are crap compared to the weapons and technology now, the ww1 era guns are crap in real life and they will be crap in a game, dice you had better not take the enjoyment of blasting in an attack chopper away from me. Graphics and helicopters please

FH1 has maps based of Barbarossa. they're pretty awesome.

Probably won't happen anytime soon, but I agree; more early war battles are always appreciated

Played my first round of 2.5! So far only as German on a 32 layer of Seelow and British on the 16 layer of Pegasus. Apart from some server lag, both seemed awesome. 8)

I was beyond happy to come home at 9pm Eastern Standard Time in the US and still find people online. Thank you Devs
There were some nice action on seelow last night indeed. Had fun playing against you, matt

well, after 3 or 4 years (I actually believe it's as much as 4 years) I finally have a computer that can play FH2 problem free on highest graphics.

So I am downloading it right now. Kind of excited to make a comeback.

If the supression is back, then it will definitely be worth it.

I'll see you on the battlefield, CPS!

well it might be a bit more complicated than that. They know eachtother a bit as well through me, he was really drunk and when he's drunk he gets desperate.

but I guess you're right. I might not have acted in the best of ways. Though they would have slept together anyway, even if I didn't say anything (trust me, it's not like I threw them into eachothers arms).

If anything, which is good for me atm when I feel horrible, my anger and disappointment is justified as I voiced them. So I got some leverage, so to speak, there.

I suppose this is still a general feels-thread, and not just something happy-thread.

Today I got to experience the consequences of being great friends with your ex.

Last night my best friend, and her, slept together and I feel like absolute shit right now. I just want to leave town and get far away.

I guess I could live with it in some way. We haven't been together for 2 years now and are just great friends. And honestly, she has had boyfriends since then and I couldn't care less about that. Cause they have only been in my peripheral.

Then we were gang out drinking last night. And they are kind of cozy and touchy, but in the way I know they both can behave quite regularly.
He takes me out for a smoke, and says that something might happen. That he feels she is way too touchy towards him, but also that he doesn't know what to do and that he probably won't say no unless I specifically say to him to back off.

I don't. I tell him "I have no idea how I will feel if that happens. You will have to be ready for that"

I then ask her about it in private. she waves it off and says "aw thats sweet of him being concerned. But absolutely nothing is going on."
I tell her that I don't care who she sleeps with, but ask of her to please not sleep with my best friends. She says "no of course not, if that happens i will tell you first".

THEN
her last bus has went home, and she shares a cab with him to sleep over at his place. Even though its way off from her direction and she knows I always have a bed free (sex-free too. just friendly) that is way closer.

I of course understand things are awry then. And get down immidiately.

Couldn't fall asleep. Slept 3 hours.
Been feeling like shit the whole day, the worst day for me in many years. Until I decide to text her and ask. And I get the confirmation.

Only a one time thing, and something that occured due to the alcohol. A drunk-thing.
As if that is supposed to make me feel better.

Anyway. I just wanted to write. I feel so alone today and the first think I did after her confirmation was to check for apartments back at my home town. God I just want to go away.

You guys are insane.

It was amazing. Or at least that is my first impression after watching it once. Can't wait to watch it a second time. Though the impression might very well deteriorate after the initial shock and joy of actually watching a new star wars movie; with recurring characters.

So watching it in a more "sober" state might change my opinion on it. But damn, atm it was absolutely amazing.

Maybe a bit too much fan-service, considering it being an outright copy of A New Hope (Trenchrun? I mean that was a bit too much).

Han solo getting killed did actually shock me a bit. Though not surprising. 5 minutes before I had wondered if they would kill anyone off. Introducing 3 new main characters (Kylo Ren, Rey, Finn) means they would have to kill off some of the remaining cast.

So obvious that Ren was the son of Han and Leia, I mean when the old guy at the start commented on Ren's family to his face, it was so obvious.

I did believe Rey is the daughter of Luke at first. Considering her force powers, her parents missing since she was a kid (just like Luke & Leia), the fact that The Skywalker heirloom-lightsaber called to her, and how R2-D2 awoke just when Rey got close.

Perhaps R2 was there when Rey was abandoned/born? Programmed to recognize her as a skywalker?

But for some reason. I doubt it. Feels somewhat like there is a bit too much focus on family in that case. Though it would make sense for that extra bit of tension between Rey and Ren.

Dang I'm not sure what to think.

I loved it though.

Off-Topic / Re: Building a new computer, what parts?
« on: 28-11-2015, 23:11:07 »

First up is a prebuilt computer from komplett.se with these specifications:

Why did you pick a GeForce GTX 970 4GB? This is one of the best cards you can get. At 300 €uro. The 4GB of memory will soak up your 8GB RAM. Better pick a GeForce GTX 960 2GB for 200 €uro. Save 100 €uro.

Therefor you pick a proper SSD as Primary and the Seagate® Desktop HD 1TB (or any other SATA drive) as secondary.

Edit:// Forget about OC. Does Ted look to you like he'll be overclocking? Pick a solid mainboard and a mid-price videocard that you upgrade in a few years.
This. I won't bother overclocking, most likely.

This was a special black-friday offer that teh store put together themselves. I made a few alterations, the most improtant being that i DID downgrade from 970 to the 960 STRIX (having learned that Strix give you a more silent cooling system than Asus.).
Saed me 100 euroes indeed.

So I ended up paying about 938 euros. Quite happy with that price. Otherwise I got the same specifications as the one previously posted. I assume it's ready to upgrade as well, for when the time comes that Half Life 3 is released. Will recieve it in about a week.

why should you put a K-CPU on a B-mainboard? that is senseless.

if you DON'T want any oc, take this rig:

- Intel Xeon E3 1231 v3
- Asrock B85 Pro4
- 8GB Kingston memory for the beginning
- GTX960 : the modern card, less performance, lower consumption -> straightpoewr E10 400 watt
- R9380 : the more ancient card, more performance, higher consumption - straightpower E10 500 watt
- Define R5
- Samsung oder Crucial SSD

if you want oc:

- Intel Core i5 4690k
- Asrock Z97 Pro4
...
-> the 500 watt psu
- and of course a good cooler, NHD14/15, DarkRockPro, Macho ...

edit: for the future, hyperthreading probably becomes more popular so xeon improves his performance. singlethreaded performance is nearly the same.

I have no idea what OC means

awesome post, djinn. Painted a pretty good picture of the different purposes of each part and their future capabilites.

Atm it kind of stands between two different setups, both tips from a friend of mine (one which he customized himself. They both profit from black-friday-sale so ought to buy one today).

First up is a prebuilt computer from komplett.se with these specifications:

Problem with this one is likely the 500w PSU. Friend mentions that it will most definitely make quite a bit of noise as it will need to run at its maximum. However I could exchange that for a 750w I presume?

The upside with this one (all this is what he says) is that it is quite powerful indeed. AND it includes the OS.

My friends customized computer for me:

(Fri montering means free assembly. An offer on black friday).
This one is a bit weaker than the previous one. It does have a less nosiy-tower and PSU though. The noise is indeed very important to me (more so than the power in fact. Been playing games at 20fps or lower for many years).
Also, it doesn't include an OS. and I'm not too keen to "loan" an OS from online.

The price is basically the same. 20€ difference. So no idea where to go.
Monitor I will get second hand probably.

I do have my imac + a really really shitty laptop.

Talked with a friend of mine, who very strongly recommended an SSD Drive, at least of 120gb to run the OS and some basic stuff. Simply cause he felt that is the most major (noticeable) upgrade you can make.

Also, the same friend noticed that several sites have a black friday-sale. So today is the day. He even said he'd make a list of his recommendations. Might post them here to hear what you will say about it before ordering.

With luck, I'll get a computer worth 1000€, but i'll pay 850€. But that might be to hope too much.
DDR-3 Memory comes with speed up to 1866 MHz, DDR-4 Memory starts at 2133 MHz. It might be cheaper, to start with an older mainboard architecture using DDR-3 Memory.

Take a look at this:

The Chipset on your mainboard connects all your other hardware. On the outdated picture above the Chipset consists of 2 components, named as Northbridge and Southbridge. The speed of this chipset has an impact on your overall performance. In order to mount DDR-4 memory, you need a new and more expensive mainboard type.
But in essence, DDR4 and DDR3 are kind of the same, as long as they have the same amount of memory? DDR3 still works really well right?

Just found out during low season (december-january) I will not be able to work as much as I have, so I might have to cut down the budget a bit sadly. Or at least a bit lower - as long as it's easily upgradeable to increase the lifetime of the computer.

So best to get down to like 900€ or less.

There is trouble on the horizon. You're now at 970 €uro and the current build got a flaw.

This is because in the offer posted the primary 240GB 2.5” SSD cannot be deselected. All other SATA harddrives are optional. The problem with SSD is, that the storage space is very limited. There is no chance that you get along with a 240 GB SSD, without having an extra SATA harddrive. Windows 10 requires 20 GB of harddisk space, GTA V requires 60 GB harddisk space. That is 1/3 of the SSD space already. Accordingly you need space and since ever, conventional hardrives deliver, SSDs do not. SSDs are the luxury extra, SATA harddrives are mandatory.

Adding a SATA harddive increases costs by 100 €uro.
Removing the SSD (not possible in this offer) decreses costs by 100 €uro.
Upgrading to 16GB is another increase by 100 €uro.

You should consider checking an offer based on 1866 MHz front side bus frequency instead of 2133MHz front side bus frequency.
Then you might end up with something that fits better to your budget.

I'm also wondering how modern OS are being installed today. I admit that I lack knowledge on what media type they are being delivered. I think you still need a DVD drive in order to install Windows.

Would be this then:

https://www.komplett.se/k/config.aspx?ConfigSystemId=10876

Core-i5
16 GB DDR-3 1866
Radeon R7 360
optical drive
no SSD
conventional hardrive
978,-EUR / 9069,- SEK
Yeah talked to a friend of mine. I'm starting to realize that my desires are a bit over my initial budget. I might just have to go up towards 10 000 SEK (1022€).
I even configured that one you linked me, adding 750w power supply. The i5, 16GB and the Radeon R6. and in the end it ended up a bit over 1022€.  And that's excluding a monitor.

Well true, seems SSD isn't necessary, especially not as the storage on SSDs only seem to go up to 480gb, and I want more than that. So a conventional harddrive it is then.

god damn this is a jungle for me.

Also: What does this mean ?

As in, what difference does the 1866 and 2133 really have in performance? And what does it actually do?

I appreciate the help enormously, Dukat

You probaly need a more powerfull powersupply
