Well, last month I recorded The Godfather I & II. Then the lovely buggers at Film on 4 decided not to show Part III!  ::)

So anyway, I see that a film called Heat is on Channel 13 with De Niro and Pacino, so think, right I'll nip to the Playboy suite and set the recorder for this, looks ok. Forget what channel it was on by the time I'm in the suite, must have been Beyonce knitting in the corner starkers that distracted me, and click Channel 14. Do'h wrong channel but bloody hell it's only Godfather III on, and it's just started!  :D

Anyway put my smoking jacket, Fez cap and slippers on in the smoking suite and watched a bit of Heat, I guess this film must have passed me by over the years.
Bloody hell caught the Firefight, efcking Epic! 10/10 for that scene alone!  :)

Don't bother with the Sofia Coppola hating in most GF III reviews, she is simply not...that...bad. Because it failed to live up to expectations at the time critics were looking everywhere for reasons to not like the movie. It's a proper good movie, only it's the Return Of The Jedi of this trilogy: when compared to parts 1 and 2 it simply is the least of the bunch.
FH2 is the game, DarklyDreamingDexter is the name.

I think The Godfather Part III gets too much shit. Yeah, sure. Part I and II are movie history. That's hard to live up to a third time.

But still, Part III really ends everything. The chronicle of the Corleone family and its fate wraps up nicely in a grand finale.

Thanks to recent import movies taxation problems, no box offices are shown in theaters.

I ended up with some European and Asian movies here. So I watched:

Ironclad (2011)
by Jonathan English (Independent)
Starring James Purefoy, Paul Gimatti, Brian Cox, and others.

The film is about the first siege of Rochester Castle by King John of England (brother of that famous King Richard the Lionheart). I have no idea about historical accuracy besides noting that the castle is too small and the whole thing was not filmed in the real place (obviously).

It was shot in Wales so wygvrrytslfrrr xyz and I have no idea. It uses English btw. It has some bad-ass Danish Viking army, lunatic king, trebuchets, a siege tower, ass kicking Templar knight, some boobies (some left uncensored here), and lots of blood (as the poster implies) and gore. It is basically French people against British people with an unknown Templar knight (probably Briton, being the ass kicker), wreaking havoc in England's soil and some Danes and Britons get mutilated. And some real French army came to save the day.

The Brest Fortress 2010

What's in a name eh? I thought hey, that's cool, Brest. Different Brest! Great Russian movie about the opening (day)'s of Barbarossa, as the Russians are taken by surprise and try to hold back the invading Germans. Battleground is the border fortress of Brest, which is about to have a rude awakening.

Moving story of which I knew nothing about and a kickass war movie. Men with pistols on the left and shovels on the right included! 8) 8,5/10

It's right here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z11Pzsd9yJw

watched an hour yet.
good movie, i have never seen such a cool artillery barrage in any movie.
other epic scene is russians charging with a window-frame and stuff.

on the other hand i have also never seen a movie depicting the war that "black and white". we have stereotypic germans using children as cover, throwing grenades at injured people and of course the obligatory phrase "keine gefangenen/ no prisoners".

the effects are still awesome.

Awesome movie indeed. Better than ive seen in a long time. 9/10, maybe almost 10. "Black and white" ? I dont really agree. Well , yes the germans were portrayed alot worse than the russians. But i would say thats very common in alot of war movies, in alot bigger degree than this. I dont see any point they should make both the parts equally "evil". Its a detail meant to show all the terrors the "heroes" of the movie have to suffer, aswell as its usually facts. Particulary in this movie.
