Off-Topic / Re: Worst Military Commander of World War 2
« on: 30-05-2010, 20:05:45 »
Where's Hiter? His military decisions screwed up alot.

This. Good thing he was in command, almost every major battle the Germans lost was because of him.
(Splitting forces at Stalinrad, ordering big tank assault at Kursk to wait for new tanks so the Russians could dig in properly, prioritizing the wrong supplylines, etc etc)

And ofcourse declaring war to pretty much every big nation in the world at the same time.

But still, can't it be made so that you can still ajust in the settings to either use arrows, numpad or wasd for turret operating? Ie just disabling the use of a mouse for it.

I endorse this event or product.
Same for cannons and perhaps artillery.

Can't we use the numpad keys instead?

Why didn't anyone mention the Direct Control option? I just discovered it and it's really cool. If there's one thing I always wanted in an RTS game it's the ability to play as a unit yourself. The system works rather well, having some deviation and all so you're not having a very big advantage over AI controlled vehicles.

By the way, does anyone know a mod that expands the German campaign? I always prefer the Germans over Allies but their campaign is rather short. I've already found a mod that implements Faces of War campaigns into MoW, I'll check it out later today. If anyone knows more good mods I'd be happy to get linked. :)

Here's mine,

like to keep it clean. Thus I prefer to use Steam to run all programs instead of using desktop icons. :)

At least the North saves money on their electric bill... ;D

I'm not too sure they even have electrical networks. Not for the plebs anyway.
With that said, if a war starts I don't think Kim will last long. Besides neverending firepower provided by the US, he won't have any support from his people. The only question would be if they have the balls to actually revolt or just wait and see.

This thing amazes me! Now thats strong structure

You'll be amazed what an A10 can withstand. Since it's a lowflying, slow, ground attack airplane it is likely to get hit by smallarms. So they made sure in their design that it can still fly home with (parts of) the wing missing, only one of two engines, one of two tails, landing gear damaged and hydraulic systems damaged.

SOVIET BOMB DOGS!

GO MIGHTY DOGS OF DOOM! KILL THEM FACIS........NO NO OTHER WAY! OTHER WAY! DUMB DOGS

Of all hilarious Russian inventions of WWII the antitank dogs were at the top of the list. I mean, how could they really think that their dogs would suddenly attack Panzers when trained with Sovjet tanks? :D

Getting ontopic, I don't think it's possible to release an AI controlled dog, the only thing I can think of that could work with BF2's engine is making it a vehicle like the deployable mortar/MG kits. You would deploy the dog, then get in yourself as if it were a vehicle and go bite some enemy arse. Should be fun, although I don't think the devs will take any of their valuable time to spend time on something as rather 'useless' as this.

MoW - No Skirmish Mode = COH > MoW.

About that, one very big advantage of this game over CoH is that this infantry can actually use tanks for cover. One of the few major downsides of CoH has always been that there seemed to be no harmony between tanks and infantry. It's all about cover, yet infantry cant use tanks for it. Tanks also drive way faster than infantry can run. It was always more like having infantry move in front as targetpractice for the enemy so your tanks could move in unharmed and begin their rape. If there was one thing I could change it was the gameplay for infantry and tank combos which should include the above aswell as perhaps bonusses, like less damage taken for the infantry and larger sight radius for tanks.

Can't this map get a simular kit layout as Tunis has?
PdH gameplay is dominated by grenade and rifleGL spam. I'd suggest something like remove the rifle grenades altogether and only have an assault kit with rifle and a grenade, but limited.

Very well, I only read the last page starting with your post so I didn't know the context.

FW has 20mm and 13mm both much better guns than 50. cal. Fw 190 still should be the best, its just that American planes have bit too hard time against them as the ROF is so low.

There's nothing wrong with the 190's and I don't think the point of this thread is to have them reduced in power. (atleast I think they shouldn't)

It's just that the P47 en P51 are underpowered. They fly pretty slow, need half the map to make a turn (flying with mouse&keyboard), the six or eight .50cals fire way too slow and do too little damge and are hard to aim with. Those few times you actually manage it to get behind an unaware 190 almost always end up with damaging only half the health before it outturn you. Thus increasing their ROF and damage should compensate for the current unbalanced situation. Maybe make them a slight bit more manouvrable aswell.

but to label all resistance fighters as terrorists merely because they were defending their right to democracy against Nazi aggressors is ludicrous and disrespectful in the least.

You're doing exactly the same thing.

Nazis gave no concern about the human rights of those they occupied so they should expect none in return. In the fight against Facism, as far as I'm concerned, anything is justified. Anything.

I can't disagree that he indeed generalizes the resistance fighters, but you're doing the same thing with Germans. So bombing the hell out of millions of innocent Germans is okay because it's all for the greater good? Not all Germans were bloodthursty Nazis. The NSDAP never achieved more than 37% of the votes during fair elections. And of those 37%, a lot is just people under the influence of Nazi propaganda. You'' ll have to understand that they lived in an environment without Wikipedia, good ejucation or freedom of speech / news. They only knew what they were told and thought Hitler and his party would make Germany proud again. Bombing German cities should have also been convited as warcrimes. But I guess that's just the advantage of winning. Same goes for Stalin who murdered over three times as many people as Hitler did. And that is just the 'most positive' of estimates.

Bug Reporting / Re: Flak88 vs Tiger

Yes I just tested it aswell and it's pretty weird, I played Villers Bocage on hslan an hour ago and shot the tiger from behind: it didn't even start smoking and just drove away. But I tried the same setup in a local server just now and it díd die in two shots.

Sorry for the false headsup then... I guess I was just very unlucky those rounds.
Still weird that it did give the red hitindicator though, so it wasn't just bad hitreg.

Nope, with AT rounds; I always got the red ''hit''-indicator.
